NS Pittsburgh Line: Day 1, Heavy Freights & Heritage, Railfanning, Cassandra - Altoona, PA 4/2/22

Last weekend I ventured out to the Altoona area to meet up with a group of friends to hang out and buff trains for a few days. Saturday April 2nd marked day 1 of the trip, hitting up spots along the scenic East Slope such as Horseshoe Curve, Cresson, Downtown Altoona, Gallitzin, as well as the popular Cassandra Railroad Overlook on the West Slope. A lot of color made its way through on the area on this day in the form of NS 8025 and 8100, multiple BNSF units, and a freshly painted UP SD70M, and the Loram Railgrinder as an added bonus. The footage from this trip will be released as a 3 part series, so stay tuned for more!

@@drewjl0 You have to walk up the side of the mountain above the road tunnel on the side that's outside Horseshoe Curve. There's a small trail that takes you up and over the tunnel, but it is very steep.

SD70ACU.. What is the meaning of "ACU"? - SD means "SpecialDuty", I assume.

They are AC traction and U stands for Upgraded.
