That POV style where you’re talking behind the camera is awesome. It’s great to be able to follow along with what you’re seeing and hear you talk through it in real time.
What a coincidence, I just found the channel and this video in particular.. with my first bag of Blackout TTTF already on the way. Can't wait for the weekend! 😂
Really good info. Would love to learn how you are dealing with the drought conditions. Northern IL has been highs in upper 80s every day with no rain. Seeds went down last week and am seeing germination but nervous about yet another week with these conditions. Cheers!
Dude same here and I'm having so much trouble getting good germination even with alot of water.....I'm by O'Hare and it's dry as hell!!! If nothing works I'll be redoing new lawn Reno next week September 23 with ryanknorr elite perineal ryegrass
A few years ago, I had a skunk problem. They were tearing up my yard. I started doing a Grubex application in the spring. I feel like I've seen far fewer ant hills as a result. I think next year I am going to try over seeding with that TTTF. That color looks amazing.
I'm in Central WI I just did a dethatch and overseed on my front lawn. I used kbg because I'm hoping it'll spread and help thicken up the lawn. Tried pre germinating for a week but I'm already second guessing myself because I know it'll take forever to establish. I have my fingers crossed but it looks rough right now lol
I've had luck using Borax, and honey. The ants are drawn to the honey, mixed with Borax. About one teaspoon of each, placed near the mound. When they ingest it, they take it back to the queen, and young ants. A friend of mine had hundreds of them on the side of his garage. After 4 days, they were nearly non-existent.
Out of curiosity, I have the same sq footage on my side lot. How come you don’t use the rotary spreader? I could NEVER use that hand spreader (I have the same one) for 4k sq ft… 😬
I picked up yard dog traps at Menards. Got one mole Friday and one today (Sunday). The hardest part is finding the active tunnel. Thinking about trying Mole Scram.
I’ve had luck with using food grade DE (diatomaceous earth). The only caveat is that it needs to remain dry for a it to be effective. I applied it on dry sunny days after turning off my sprinklers and it worked like a charm.
Damn Jesse that yard looks great and u are using the earthworks fert or the Petersons also u said nitrogen which urea are u using thanks so I can buy some this week
Termidor for the ants. However, as I write this my memory tells me the label may be quite restrictive and you may not be able to legally use it in the middle of your yard. So look up the label and read before ordering. Another good option is Cy-kick or any generic with cyfluthrin as the active ingredient. Neither are contact killers. They spread through the colony like a disease.
Easyset Mole Eliminator Trap best mole traps hands down!!!! compared to the ones you used. Also 90% kill rate and less of a hassle to set. I have got 41 moles in 2.5/3 seasons. NO MOLE damage so far this year. FINGERS CROSSED. I also use Impocade insecticide and milky spore. The person that told me about the milky spore said the moles literally stopped at the line that he applied them. I noticed the same thing weather it's just a coincidence I don't know for sure but he said an old time farmer told him about the milky spore.
Damn Jesse looks beautiful also ill be buying your blackout tttf for a small reno on the front main lawn im in the transition zone lubbock, Texas do you think it would be wise to mix your fireball and hat trick with the tttf together or will i be wasting money and not just use the tttf im going to cut my lawn on the lowest level on mower then thatch the whole main 2-3 times then i was going to spray some round up to kill whats left then throw your seeds with some slow organic fert like Milorganite what ever u recommend one or both what ever u think is best then ill throw seed and then ill roll it or step on it and add very little peat moss over the seeds just to be sure my birds dont eat them andafter that water 3-4 times a day for 20 min or so the first 2 weeks do that sound about right brother thanks alot cant wait
Great video! So much good info. That ammonium sulfate gives a great green up and it’s so quick! What height of cut are you doing on the TTTF? I’m about to do my first cut in two weeks (3 weeks after germination) and am wondering how low I should go.
Try triple threat Nematodes for your ant problem. It will most likely help with the moles too, getting rid of their food source in your lawn. Better hurry though, needs to be applied in warm soil to survive.
Hey bro. Level.up.lawn here, just wanted to add to the amazing content that AMS has a 2 x salt index then urea meaning it takes half the amount to "burn" your lawn. Extra water with the AMS is needed. AMS so gets a better colour response because of the sulphur is bound too. Keep up the good work my dude. Still waiting on my tshirt you were going to send me last year 😂😂😅😅😅 All good my dude, crushing to vlogs
Wow that color is insane! Question for ya. I failed to put down any grub control and I’ve got some pretty significant damage. Is my best course of action to remove the turf and reseed the area? Thanks in advance!
well if i remember right, the best mow last time, you were cutting it at 1.25", so more than double what you usually cut. maybe its better to be higher cut. then if its higher, wouldnt using the granular ammonia sulfate be better??
MOLES are so annoying! I have them in my back yard right now also. I'm not brave enough to try those traps, I use those sound repellant probes, and I just got some granular mole/vermin repellant to try as well.
Most modern scissor traps are safe. Blades go into the ground then you step on the trap to arm it. Use a stick or dowel to set off trap if you need to move trap. Safe for pets as long as they don't try to dig it up. You could put a five gallon bucket or something else on top of it to keep pets away.
I had really good luck killing my two red ant mounds with water dawn dish soap and orange oil. There are RUclips videos on the mixture. Let me know if that works for you.?
That's really bizarre that the Niban didn't work.. it didn't wash out did it? Niban doesn't work on fire ants per the label, are they fire ants? Red ants in MN sounds like they may well be.. Blackout is looking gorgeous!
Hey Jesse.. 1 lb N per K is not going to burn this time of year…. You should drop the AMS at that same rate to avoid the green splotches…. Drywall knife is the best for cutting out poa IMO..
Wtf are you digging up your lawn to put low hit rate mole traps? Get a few scissor traps and call it a day. Come on, they only leave about x2 inch slits in lawn
@fahmi2a298 Dang I was hoping you wouldn't say that. I really don't like tall fescue in my KBG yard because it's just a tough grass. Doesn't look or feel right. There has to be some new cultivars out there that mix better.
Imagine living in a neighborhood so nice you don't even need fences
This man is living the dream

I sprinkle cayenne pepper around mole holes. They don’t come back.
It truly works.
Great video like always! That back yard is coming in strong!

You need to start spraying AMS. even coverage baby! 🔥🔥🔥
Good video, I like how you address the blitz with an overseed.

Bifentherin for ants and any bugs in your yard. They make a granular and a concentrate version
Optiguard ant gel, its a bit tedious, but lay some of that gel on top of each any hill and Poof, in a day or two they’re done

Dissolve the AMS and spray the front. It dissolves very easy.
If I'm dissolving ams at 0.25 lbs for 1000sqft what ratio of ams lbs to gallon of water should I do?
Out of curiosity, I have the same sq footage on my side lot. How come you don’t use the rotary spreader? I could NEVER use that hand spreader (I have the same one) for 4k sq ft… 😬

Just got my seeds delivered! Im ready!! Hoping its not too late into the season.
How long it take to come

For Ants. Syngenta 66718 Advion Granule Insect Bait, 1lb. saw a big difference after 2 days and in a week no more. They take the bait to the community
I've had the best luck with the grub gummies... work wonders

Looks great dude. I overseeded with the same grass and hoping for the best
We need a blackout seed distributor in Canada. A lot of people would love it. If you are in, let’s chat.
Is Blackout ttttf better than black beauty original? If so, why? Thanks for the video.
Dayum, Jesse. You’re a savage. Gonna start calling you Bill Murray.

Yep, scissor traps are the way to go

Impressive looking with black out.
AND THATS how you get ants! Enjoy your vids. Been a long time lurker!
What's up bro the grass looks awesome i wanted to ask What is the deadline to overseed

Which brand you like better far as the seed you use

You going to spray the rust with a fungicide? I have some rust too and just applied some propiconazle
Bifenthrin is the ingredient you need. 7.9% should work but if you want to be the only living thing walking on your grass go with Bifen XTS 25.1%
Try Diatomaceous Earth for your ant problem
Isn’t 0.5 lbs of N what you do for the nitrogen blitz? I thought 0.25 lbs of N was better for new grass
well if i remember right, the best mow last time, you were cutting it at 1.25", so more than double what you usually cut. maybe its better to be higher cut. then if its higher, wouldnt using the granular ammonia sulfate be better??
Bifen I/T and Permerthrin in a sprayer kills all bugs/ants/grubs (that the moles are after) etc
What’s the HOC on the back yard?
For the nitrogen blitz, couldn’t you just use Deft, and save even more dollars?
I used triacide granules and I think it works good for ants
Talstar p. For the ants I do Pest control For a living. Liquid form use a cheap box store sprayer
double down on that
Great on yellow jackets to in the ground
Crosscheck will get it done.
Don't really have to worry about fertilization burn with Earthworks.
Whete can you purchase this grass seed blackout? Thanks
Is your front lawn Blackout Elite KY Bluegrass and Rye?
I want to use the grass seed you used.
Are you able to cut tttf short and keep it dark green? How do you reset the height?

I'm dealing with squirrels tearing up my freshly seeded lawn that is trying to mature. So annoying

Cayenne pepper works very well on the mole,,, they will leave and want come back
Using a fork to get poa out is something I learnt of Daniel Hilbert Lawn Expert on RUclips and I've tried it myself and it works very good
A regular dinner fork?
I watch his channel, but I haven't seen the video. I'll check it out if I can find it. Thanks👍🏾
Missing the pop and dominating at the same time 😂
I use BifenIT - very effective
Hi mate why not try sugar mixed with baking soda and pour it in the hole. Or spray ant killer. RAID.
It’s funny how dog owners say their dog went to the bathroom on the lawn, but there actually is not a bathroom.
Even the vegetation got darker green 😂
Use Ortho Fire Ant Killer. This kill in minutes .
How can I buy this seed in Canada?
No response. Not worth anyone’s time trying to learn anything
Demand CS for ants
Dude I’m a pest technician. Buy Extinguish. It’s for fire ants. It’s a bait. Don’t use a lot it only takes a little.
Hey Jesse.. 1 lb N per K is not going to burn this time of year…. You should drop the AMS at that same rate to avoid the green splotches…. Drywall knife is the best for cutting out poa IMO..
You need to sharpen those blades on your mower!!.............brown, rigid at the top of them!!
Bifen/IT
Fire ants?
Cats are an easier solution to moles.
Wtf are you digging up your lawn to put low hit rate mole traps? Get a few scissor traps and call it a day. Come on, they only leave about x2 inch slits in lawn
Will your TTTF grow wide blade when mature?
Yes definitely unless you 3” and keep there
