Wacky Cake Recipe
3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
4 heaping tablespoons cocoa
2 teaspoons soda
1 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons vanilla
2 tablespoons vinegar
3/4 cup vegetable oil
2 cups  cold water
Mixed together dry ingredients. Add the liquid ingredients. Stir only until mixed.
Bake at 350° for 30-40 minutes. Or until done. 
Chocolate ganache
2 cups heavy whipping cream.
2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips.
1 teaspoon vanilla.
Heat heavy whipping cream.
Mix in the chocolate chips and melt.
Let cool.

Growing up in a conservative Mennonite home; making Wacky Cake was the first cake I learned how to make at a very young age. Great memories!

I made so many wacky cakes as a kid that I didn't even need a recipe anymore!! It was always a favorite in our house!! And yes, this cake holds many fond memories for me as well!!

This is such a simple moist cake that I also make from time to time! I first knew it a Depression Cake as my grandmother made it during the depression years. I enjoy watching your videos of your family life.
I have this same recipe in a very old cookbook, also referred to as ‘Depression Cake’. I am thinking maybe it was made during war times as no butter or eggs are in it. I so enjoy you in the kitchen Priscilla, also the girls. Please make a cookbook one day with all your favourite recipes, and be willing to send it to Australia, as many places will not post to us down under.
I made that same cake as a child. We called it Crazy Cake. It was 1/2 that recipe and we would mix it and bake it in a 9” square pan. My mom always made a brown sugar sauce that we spooned over each piece as we served it. My kids and now my grandkids learned to bake using this simple recipe. 🥰
We loved the brown sugar sauce over it as well!! It was an extra special occasion if we got the sauce with it!!

I use to make that cake when my kidlets were still at home...we called it "crazy cake." For their birthdays we would turn it into a poke cake and pour vanilla pudding on top. Moose says "Hi"! 😃💜

Loved this! Consider attaching a nice length of thick rope or webbing tow strap behind the snowmachine with a big tractor tire inner tube tied on. Great fun to ride out there on the open snow. Never near trucks or trees, of course!
