Yes it is a shame when the weather doesn't play nice. We were very lucky to get some nice days when we were at Lucky Bay, but are happy to be heading north now and leaving most of the rain behind!!!
Hey guys we were at the same caravan park as you in Hopetoun last week. I wanted to say hi but didn’t want to intrude, told hubby we will drive past if you were out we would say hi. You wasn’t so had to do a 3 point turn to get out it was dark and I reversed our 200 series into an overhanging tree. We now need a new back spoiler 😂😂😂😂. Hopefully the weather improves for you. And Green to match the tree lol
Oh my goodness, we’re so sorry to hear you hit the tree 🌲😱 Those trees were low in that park as we had to be carful with the van as well. I hope insurance has you covered for the repair. We were in the van most of the stay there hiding out from the horrible weather and getting some work done, so would have been more than happy to have a quick chat. @@LBWAdventures we will. All good we bought a spoiler from someone who had theirs chopped just have to get it sprayed our colour. All up $350 cheaper than our excess. It was a nice park but a bit all over the place and yes lots of low hanging trees 😫

Omni-directional aerial when moving and a directional when stationary (an app will tell you which way to point the directional) ... should dramatically improve reception, and height is King... if you can slide that pole up another meter or two.. Grey if the comp is still open (dont want it confused with a Golf practice mat)... Great to se the trans cooler is in.. and making a difference - probably back to prescribed service intervals again... but keep us informed. And.. loving your journey.
Hi Christian, thank you for the advice, yes we did hear about the directional aerials after we had made our makeshift pool pole but are yet to really understand the amount of difference it makes when we are in remote locations. We might have to look at extending our pool pole even higher if height is king, so thanks for the advice. The transcooler is making a great difference which is a relief and gives us more courage to travel further distances in one go. Thanks for watching and taking the time to share your advice 😁
@@LBWAdventures The pool pole as an awesome DIY solution. Directional antennas give you a focused beam between the tower and your receiver thus a higher dB gain. Then some receivers (nighthawke?) will allow multi channel communication thus 4 poor connections mean that more data can streamed... - but I'm not a comm's person... and some of the information from another video went over my head... Loving your videos... while wondering how the van life will be over winter..

Hahah… we used x4 3M sticky broom holders stuck to the back of the van. Obviously we take it down to travel, but it keeps it up in most conditions although we have had it come down once in super strong winds. Albany's weather at this time of year has always been hit and miss. We have been complaining about the heat and lack of rain since last October 😂🤣 so we have been enjoying the rain and cooler temperatures lately. Fingers crossed that Esperance puts on perfect weather for you.
Thanks for your video. If you use a yagi (directional antenna) , you will pull in signal up to 3 times better than an omni antenna (what you have). I worked for a telco, and used to install these for friends and take one on holidays.

Great job putting a cooler in. I'm about to do the same to our ranger. What is the product you are using to get the temps on your phone? Does it plug into your obd reader? "Green" is a great colour. Great bush mechanics ! "Swarf" is a real word and usually refers to cuttings produced from drilling and can be hot and sharp if they land on you.....and green for the green shirt, and to me green means life and energy !!! PS also watch the tiny antenna connections on the 4G modem, they're fragile and often don't connect properly (whoever designed those needs to go back to design school !)

Had I known you were walking everywhere in Albany, I would have reached out and been your taxi for the day! However, I guess being held up in Albany area for three weeks, you would have seen most spots like Boiler Beach, Gull Rock, Nanarup, Waychinocup, Cheynes, Cape Riche, etc. Another item for the fact-file, Little Beach was voted as Australia’s 4th Whitest Beach (Lucky Bay is the whitest, but it is controversial because NSW reckon they have the whites beach in Hyams Beach / Shoal Haven. Ps. Would lobe to know more about the engine monitoring setup you are using. And if now enroute to Esperance, check out Hopetoun, Mason Bay, Stokes Inlet and when in Esperance make sure you get to the Duke of Orleans Bay. Great comp - but happy for another to collect.
That’s ok, we def needed the exercise as it has been wet and we’d been in the caravan for too long 😱😂 thank you for the kind offer though. Hey Rob. The scan gauge we purchased is OBD2 Australia. When you receive your scan tool it gives you the name of the app to download as it is specific to their particular device allowing you to pick the readouts you want to see on your phone. We have ours mounted to the window so it’s easy to keep an eye on. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 👍

The scan gauge 2 was a lot dearer and also uses its own readout screen where as I liked being able to use my phone as the screen… one less thing sitting on the dash. It also does everything I need, so didn’t need to spend the extra money. Hope that helps with your decision.

Hi, sorry for the delay in answering your question. We are not always in areas that have service. The app is called Carscanner pro (think it was around $5 to download). You also need the OBD2 scanner that plugs into the car as well which was about $50 from memory. It has been a really good tool and helps look after the car while towing.

We have just got back from 3 days in Esperance, 9 days at Lucky Bay and 9 days ins Bremer Bay and yes it was cold and wet. Too cold.
Yes it is a shame when the weather doesn't play nice. We were very lucky to get some nice days when we were at Lucky Bay, but are happy to be heading north now and leaving most of the rain behind!!!
Hey guys we were at the same caravan park as you in Hopetoun last week. I wanted to say hi but didn’t want to intrude, told hubby we will drive past if you were out we would say hi. You wasn’t so had to do a 3 point turn to get out it was dark and I reversed our 200 series into an overhanging tree. We now need a new back spoiler 😂😂😂😂. Hopefully the weather improves for you. And Green to match the tree lol
Oh my goodness, we’re so sorry to hear you hit the tree 🌲😱 Those trees were low in that park as we had to be carful with the van as well. I hope insurance has you covered for the repair. We were in the van most of the stay there hiding out from the horrible weather and getting some work done, so would have been more than happy to have a quick chat. @@LBWAdventures we will. All good we bought a spoiler from someone who had theirs chopped just have to get it sprayed our colour. All up $350 cheaper than our excess. It was a nice park but a bit all over the place and yes lots of low hanging trees 😫

Omni-directional aerial when moving and a directional when stationary (an app will tell you which way to point the directional) ... should dramatically improve reception, and height is King... if you can slide that pole up another meter or two.. Grey if the comp is still open (dont want it confused with a Golf practice mat)... Great to se the trans cooler is in.. and making a difference - probably back to prescribed service intervals again... but keep us informed. And.. loving your journey.
Hi Christian, thank you for the advice, yes we did hear about the directional aerials after we had made our makeshift pool pole but are yet to really understand the amount of difference it makes when we are in remote locations. We might have to look at extending our pool pole even higher if height is king, so thanks for the advice. The transcooler is making a great difference which is a relief and gives us more courage to travel further distances in one go. Thanks for watching and taking the time to share your advice 😁
@@LBWAdventures The pool pole as an awesome DIY solution. Directional antennas give you a focused beam between the tower and your receiver thus a higher dB gain. Then some receivers (nighthawke?) will allow multi channel communication thus 4 poor connections mean that more data can streamed... - but I'm not a comm's person... and some of the information from another video went over my head... Loving your videos... while wondering how the van life will be over winter..

Hahah… we used x4 3M sticky broom holders stuck to the back of the van. Obviously we take it down to travel, but it keeps it up in most conditions although we have had it come down once in super strong winds. Albany's weather at this time of year has always been hit and miss. We have been complaining about the heat and lack of rain since last October 😂🤣 so we have been enjoying the rain and cooler temperatures lately. Fingers crossed that Esperance puts on perfect weather for you.
Thanks for your video. If you use a yagi (directional antenna) , you will pull in signal up to 3 times better than an omni antenna (what you have). I worked for a telco, and used to install these for friends and take one on holidays.
Oh no hahah we needed that advice before our Macgivering 😂 thank you though, that’s the kind of thing that def helps as even with what we have done there are still some locations where we need more signal than we are getting so we will look into that. Thanks for watching our video 😃

Thanks Tom 😁 The app we use to check the temp came with the OBD2 Australia scanner we purchased. When you purchase the scanner it gives you the app to download as it's specific to that device. Hope that helps, and have fun with your new ranger when you get it and thanks for watching out video 🙌
High Guys, Happy travels, we have to wait another month for our Van, Is the Everest a Bi-Turbo? and if so what scan app are you running? Grey is our colour.
Hi Annette, one more month to go… you are almost there so some exciting times ahead!!! No our Everest is the 3.2L not the Bi-turbo. "Green" is a great colour.
But "grey" is a better colour for a muk mat.

Thank you, yes it has given us a lot more peace of mind now the temp sits consistent rather than spiking like it was. The app is part of the OBD2 Australia scan tool we brought. Great bush mechanics ! "Swarf" is a real word and usually refers to cuttings produced from drilling and can be hot and sharp if they land on you.....and green for the green shirt, and to me green means life and energy !!!
PS also watch the tiny antenna connections on the 4G modem, they're fragile and often don't connect properly (whoever designed those needs to go back to design school !)

Had I known you were walking everywhere in Albany, I would have reached out and been your taxi for the day! However, I guess being held up in Albany area for three weeks, you would have seen most spots like Boiler Beach, Gull Rock, Nanarup, Waychinocup, Cheynes, Cape Riche, etc. Another item for the fact-file, Little Beach was voted as Australia’s 4th Whitest Beach (Lucky Bay is the whitest, but it is controversial because NSW reckon they have the whites beach in Hyams Beach / Shoal Haven. Ps. Would lobe to know more about the engine monitoring setup you are using. And if now enroute to Esperance, check out Hopetoun, Mason Bay, Stokes Inlet and when in Esperance make sure you get to the Duke of Orleans Bay. Great comp - but happy for another to collect.
That’s ok, we def needed the exercise as it has been wet and we’d been in the caravan for too long 😱😂 thank you for the kind offer though. We ticked some of those off the list but will have to come back again to visit a couple there you mentioned that we didn’t get to. Hi, yes sure not a problem. The app is called ‘suns path’ which was a free download. It helps us know which way to park to get the best solar based on our panel layout. Hope this helps and thanks for watching our video 🙌

Sorry just had a look at the app and it has a shorter name on the phone than the App Store. The full app name is ‘sun position and path’ the icon is a blue square with a big yellow sun. Hope that helps

Thanks, yes we are happy to finally have that done so we have a little more piece of mind when towing. So far we have found it has levelled the temp out and sits pretty consistent no matter whether we are climbing a hill or just cruising along. Hey Rob. The scan gauge we purchased is OBD2 Australia. When you receive your scan tool it gives you the name of the app to download as it is specific to their particular device allowing you to pick the readouts you want to see on your phone. We have ours mounted to the window so it’s easy to keep an eye on. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 👍

Hey Rob, great to hear you’re enjoying the videos. The scan gauge 2 was a lot dearer and also uses its own readout screen where as I liked being able to use my phone as the screen… one less thing sitting on the dash. It also does everything I need, so didn’t need to spend the extra money. Hope that helps with your decision.

Hi, sorry for the delay in answering your question. We are not always in areas that have service. The app is called Carscanner pro (think it was around $5 to download). You also need the OBD2 scanner that plugs into the car as well which was about $50 from memory. It has been a really good tool and helps look after the car while towing.
