I took my late wife to a Manon just before she heard she had three months to live. I am typing with tears tears in my eye.

Thank you, aldo. This posting is so powerful. James Levine has created music here that I believe reveals the very soul of Puccini.

In the last part of their lives the great conductors find a special freedom. They no longer have to prove their skill to anyone, they have no economic problems, they are more wise than in youth, they can finally try to really say what they want.

By far the best execution, you may listen the maestro touch! The dynamics are fantastics, the flow is coherent, timing is amazing: it's 1 pieces unique from start to the end, changing the mood with right volume, and accent. Just the best one.

The fact is I love her! My passion is so strong that I regard myself the most miserable creature alive. In order to obtain her release, what did I not attempt in Paris! I begged aid of the mighty! I knocked and pleaded at every door! Even to force did I resort! All to no avail. There is only one way left; to follow her! And I shall follow her! Wherever she may go! Be it the top of the world !
