(HD 1080p) Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana, Pietro Mascagni
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 14 ноя 2013
- Opera composers sometimes wrote instrumental intermezzi as connecting pieces between acts of operas. In this sense an intermezzo is similar to the entr'acte (intermission). The most famous of this type of intermezzo is probably the intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana, by Pietro Mascagni..
Here is a video of landscape images of Tuscany, Italy set to the music of the intermezzo from this opera wriitten by Pietro Mascagni. - Видеоклипы
I'm now 74. I heard this for the first time aged 10 on the radio. I clearly remember asking my parents what it was. I said it made me feel sad but I wanted a record because it was so beautiful. The next day father bought the 78 rpm record. It was played until it was worn out.
Thank you for sharing your story. I hope you are well.

Sensational piece.
This was played at my Italian grandmother's funeral last Thursday, as it was her favourite piece of music. She was 99.

Yes I agree I want this tune with others at my funeral just love it
R.I.P
This music was featured at the end of the 3rd Godfather movie, and the imagery that was displayed during the music was so absolutely overwhelming that I can't listen to it without getting emotional EVERY single time. When I watch a marathon of the Godfather and I get to the very end, I always rewind that ending song 4 times at least before I can let it pass by, the beauty of the moment is just too much. 💜💜
YES I REMEMBER IT TOO
Do the same, my soulmate....
I'd like this played at the end of the first half of Bagi, The Return of the Monster with Ryo crying over everything which he thinks is his fault. How he fears that even after giving Bagi the shot to cure her feral state, he thinks he still killed her. He doesn't notice that the vaccine worked and saved Bagi. And with Skunk (Astro Boy) about to drop an unpinned grenade, Ryo wants to take responsibility for everything and wants to bid a tear-stained farewell to Bagi The sad last words of the first half:
Ryo:"It no longer matters... I've abandoned everything and everyone... I cut school. I couldn't save them, Bagi, or my mother... I don't wanna add another page to my dark history any longer... I don't think it's a dud... I'll never hear Bagi's voice again, but the least I can do for her is take responsibility... (doesn't realize Bagi's ears are twitching, as is her tail) *sniff tears* Bagi, my mother and I deserve an "I told you so" for everything. Wherever you are, whatever better place you've gone to with your friends from that lab... I'll never make it there... *sob* *sob* This is goodbye for good when that grenade hits the ground. (first words for Bagi by proxy) We, *sob* as I would want you and not me to say, will always be friends. (camera shows Bagi's POV racing to save Ryo before the grenade goes off) We will always be (with seconds before Skunk's unpinned grenade leaves his fingertips, Ryo doesn't realize he's being scooped up to be carried away from the blast) TOGETHER!"
It is painfully beautiful.
3rd godfather movie sucked tho
Mascagni believed this to be his masterpiece and I agree. Played to an empty stage after the drama has unfolded in a way only Italian opera can portray. Wonderful.
OH!!! Those Italians know how to create beautiful symphony's don't they...heartbreaking piece of music 🌷
I heard that he wrote it for a contest. And initially he threw the papers with notes in the garbage because he believed it is no good. But his wife picked it up and encouraged him to continue

Mascagni wrote many other pieces of music, but while other famous composers were noted for writing several well known pieces each, this intermezzo became Mascagni's only 'known' work. And everything else he wrote sank into relative obscurity. But if you're only going to be known for one piece of music, this surely has to be it.

THANK YOU, ROMI for posting....I had this played at the funeral home for my beloved husband, who passed away last October 8 2021 from acute hypoxic lung failure due to covid. He was a war hero. An honorable, yet humble, man. A recipient of a silver star, 2 bronze stars, 2 purple hearts during the Vietnam war. A member of the elite 5th Group Special Forces Airborne (green berets) who later came home, went to college and then on to medical school. My husband, Michael, was still practicing as an ER doctor and teaching resident doctors in southwest Florida, when he very tragically died. He had selflessly given his whole life, in service to his country and to others. My heart is truly broken. I shall love you always...Rest in Peace my precious, beautiful darling man, until we are together again.

I also first heard it in Rurouni Kenshin. I always tried to find it as a kid. And heard it once on the radio on the classical station but didn't get the name and today I have finally found it!!

@@PreservationEnthusiast The fantastic thing about art is its power to connect our experiences with the rest of the world. In the same way that an artwork is always, in some way, a reflection of the artist, so too our individual reactions to it are also a reflection of ourselves. Even if this piece doesn't resonate with you in the way it does for some, and I could never really know what it would mean for you, I hope you find or have found art which moves you in the way this music moves me. Everyone deserves that experience.
@@charlesmcg Sure theres plenty of music I like across classical, rock and electronic genres.
You gave your definition of art, but that's not the only one. Another take on it, would be a piece of work that provokes reactions or emotions.
It provoked a reaction in me that it was pretentious shite. I don't like the way the music continually sweeps up in pitch in a cheap attempt to stir emotion like a sound track to an old film. Rather than gushing about the music, I have analysed it and made a relevant comment. So it has provoked a reaction in me, albeit not a positive one. If everyone had the same reaction, what a boring world it would be!
Delighted to chat with you on You Tube comments.

Pure beauty, as Italy.
When I was 6 or 7 years old and would spend the night at my grandparents’ house, my grandpa’s phone alarm was the melody that starts at 1:21, and it would always go off around 6 am. I remember hearing it when I was so sleepy, and to me it was the most dreamy, heavenly, beautiful piece of music I’d heard. A few years later I tried to ask him what the song was but he couldn’t remember. More than ten years later (a couple of weeks ago) my flute studio played this piece and I finally figured out the name! Hearing it played like this by an orchestra is so nostalgic and amazing!

Maybe it's just from seeing it in the Godfather, but this piece always evokes a feeling of seeing something from a fuller perspective. Something that wasn't always clear while it was going on, that was full of heartbreak, mistakes, and also its pleasures. What wasn't so obvious until now was its incredible beauty, and the piece evokes regret or joy to the extent that we were able to appreciate that while it was going on.
