I was told sticky stabilizer was bad for your machine because it drives adhesive into your embroidery machine. Have you ever heard that? I was also told to use non-stick needles..those darker embroidery needles. Thoughts??? I know everyone has opinions 😂
Well you are not wrong about how everyone has opinions but I literally wrote the Pocket Guide to Stabilizers and go into detail about all the stabilizers and in there I discuss more about Sticky stabilizers. But, in a bit she’ll the way I think about Sticky stabilizer is that it’s more as a way to hold your fabric down Va really providing any “stabilization”. It is not bad for your machine at least according to the many manufacturers who produce it with the backing and approval of top machine manufacturers, ie BERNINA, Babylock, Brother etc. these manufacturers all have stabilizers they promote and each brand has a “sticky” option. Now the needles, I don’t often use a Non-stick needle but that is more because I’ve found the needles for machine embroidery that work well for my machine and I tend to stick with them but if you find they help, then awesome!! Lastly on your question about humming up the machine, I think you’re accurate and that is one of the reasons it’s so important to keep our machines well maintained. It is recommended to clean the bobbin case area out removing lint, dust, and any other foreign objects after each use or 6-8 hours. Same goes for your needle, changing them every 6-8 hours of use and discarding them. Thanks for your comments, good questions!
My sticky stabilizer does not come off easily. Actually once I carefully remove the luggage tag any sticky left does not come off at all. Do you have any advice on this? I would really like to not have any showing but I don’t know if this is possible.
Hmmm I wonder if it’s gone bad?! The paper is only a cover to the sticky so if it is not peeling perhaps yours is thicker ?! I’m not sure but keep at it. Maybe roll Put a foot or so and see if it’s deeper into the roll that it’s good.
For this project, faux leather, unused Embroidery 75/11 amzn.to/34eBnVp For actual leather, I’d have to test a few out before I said with all certainty but bc I’d say try Embroidery 90/14 or Top Stitch 80/12
