When you see the DBT's...you'll notice Patterson does most of the talking and singing, but you'll also notice the crowd get way louder when Cooley steps up to the microphone. He doesn't sustain the show, but he takes it to its highest moments. This song, "Sounds Better In the Song", "Women Without Whiskey", take the shows to a much higher level than they could go without him. This is the best sideman in rock music. Period.
