    Funny how much those old cars raise up when you take the motor out. Means it probably going to go way down when you drop that 455 in there! Did they use different springs for the different engines?

  • @victorrobinson7008
    @victorrobinson7008 Год назад +1

    By changing the oil pump you can eliminate that problem with the motor remove the heads inspect those get those redone and resurfaced and repaint it everything is on the engine stand send the bottom in to someone that can thoroughly clean it bring it back with new freeze plugs and repaint it I would go with a black cuz black is so lovely anyway Victor from Palmdale California is what I would do

    • @LunarOutlawsGarage
      @LunarOutlawsGarage  Год назад

      The oil pump I put on it down in Texas is a performance oil pump and that’s only reason why I had any oil pressure when I drove it home. Unfortunately, the main bearings are definitely the culprit.

  • @victorrobinson7008
    @victorrobinson7008 Год назад +1

    The problem with the motor is when you brought it from Texas things change with the altitude and climate carburetor must be adjusted per the area if the barometric pressure is different the car will act different

    • @LunarOutlawsGarage
      @LunarOutlawsGarage  Год назад

      Believe it or not, it actually drove perfectly fine without any alteration to the carburetor from Texas to Northeast big issue is oil pressure.

    The only draw back on an autopsy on a used engine is just that, it's used you have no idea how often the oil was changed, what quality was the oil or what kind of abuse the engine took. I agree with you on it's probably main/ rod bearing. Either way good luck & thnx.👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸

  • @victorrobinson7008
    @victorrobinson7008 Год назад +1

    And one more thing oil oil is crucial you must put the best oil for a vintage car that's on the market today not synthetic but a heavy duty blend with vitamins and minerals! I'm talking about Rotella diesel truck oil 5W-40 15W40 basically will do the job and it will protect your motor forever diesel truck oils last a long time because they put so many millions of miles on those vehicles I mean the semi truck so a better oil in a car it will last forever

    • @LunarOutlawsGarage

      it’s a pretty easy task, but make sure that you’re using replacement OM gaskets otherwise you’ll end up breaking the distributor tang. It’s not the most fun to do without a lift, but definitely doable.

    a big block in a lil car is like that movie Tommy Boy saying a Fat guy in a little coat. Also am a lil close to doing my engine swamp I got all the v6 undone on the truck and now got to get started on the v8 from the car clean it up and paint it and install the v8 in the v6 truck w/o having the transmission all have to do is remove all 6 bolts from the bell housing and remove 4 bolts on the torque convt. and lift the engine. just leave the trans stay w/o lifting the engine. also change the speed sensor so the engine can read the speedometer correctly and I am going to change the p/s to a manual steering I saw a video of how to keep the p/s rack and make it into a manual and delete the complete a/c unit on my Dakota.

      I think he may have been talking about the tachometer. I know before I did the supercharger upgrade in the Supra, and put the heltech system in I had to convert the 1uz tachometer signal to a six cylinder tachometer signal. Otherwise, the tach would’ve read incorrectly.

      It should be a pretty straightforward swap. I’m going to go through replace the fuel lines with larger lines, replace the fuel tanks, and a few other things like the rear axle so that it doesn’t just come apart the first burn out I do. Otherwise, it’s just a matter of getting it back together for the spring.
