I had a daunting experience at a telecoms course I was taking; me being black in my 30s having been in the UK for 23 years. I often regarded my self as 'black British'. Well I began to question this notion when at this very course fellow 'black British' (born in the UK) who were classmates at the time began to ridicule my English accent to the point when one of the said I was 'trying to sound British' I laughed and thought to my self how stupid is that. It became evident to me that black British then is the syphoning out of anything that is deemed non British and the infusion of everything that is British, so in other words what the brother on the right said 'Trying to become like your oppressors. Acting like them, sounding like them etc. The oppressors they hate culture, their nature is to destroy culture weather abroad or at home. If anyone's played the game Metal Gear Solid 5 it has a great metaphor that alludes to this. The stealing of language.
