Thank goodness that Jonathan Meades still makes television programmes. There is only one danger with watching such a unique mind- that of agreeing with EVERYTHING he says. Its hard to resist, especially when some of the references are beyond your current experience, but worth the effort. I'm sure Meades would want it! I challenge anyone to honestly say they are aware of every person, every artistic movement or building referenced in any Meades programme. They invite you to explore...
Thanks for putting so much of Johnathan Meades' stuff up. I saw him on telly when I was about 13, around 93 or 94 or so. Too young to get it, but I really liked his stuff. Never saw him again, as I don't watch much telly, as I assume it's mostly time wasting stuff. I think I'm right, but it means I miss out on some genuinely great stuff, such as everything he's done since. So thanks so much for putting his stuff up, you really can't beat it. If you're a certain sort of person, which I am.
@videowifie nonsense as the best path... Lewis Carroll and Mervyn Peake are the perfect examples of that in English...I love what they created more than most things...(except central heating, variety of food, electric appliances in the home, and anaesthetic pain relief) ;) and
It's by Roy Budd and is the theme to the movie "Get Carter". I was wondering what it was too and did a lot of trawling of classic British films as a result. :)
@videowifie your name suggests you have already fallen victim to ancient ownership laws aimed at repressing women and limiting the prospects of any offspring (allegedly) !!! Me, I'm just someone who thinks Meades is the most enjoyable thing on British Television at this moment. Some enjoy x factor, me..I enjoy Meades. There is nothing at all wrong with either. Though I think Meades will survive longer than any given series of X-factor! What do YOU think?
It's just a matter of people consciousness level and politics. Sarkozy was 100% pro-UIS. His presidential decrees folloowed US policies: destruction of the Education system, destruction of health care, etc. So, I would say, only morons and right wingers are pro-US. Nonetheless, in the 90s, laws were written so there is quota in US movies distributed (not taking in account DVDs) and in music on radio.

Is he really suggesting France is pro-American? Lol..
