- By the end of the 1970’s the battle between the NHL and WHA came to a close. Though the WHA dissolved after this, four teams from the former league would join the NHL. One was one was based in Manitoba and took its name from a local junior team; the Winnipeg Jets.

restore the wha 4. bring back the whalers and Quebec
What's sad is that Edmonton is the only one of the four to keep their original team, and even they had rumblings of moving in the past.
Dave Christian was the 1980 team USA defence man? He was a Center.
he did pay every position but goalie that first year in winnipeg
And in 1995, 96 and 97 they took away 3 of the 4. 😡
Go jets go, go jets go
RIP Dale Hawerchuk
You can see me in the crowd 6:36
No way
keep these up they are great videos I'm learning so much from them, thanks for making them!
This wasn’t a merger. It was a brokered peace agreement between two leagues. The NHL absorbed four teams holding their noses.
Christian was not a D man, maybe you are thinking Dave Babych drafted 2nd overall in 1980 and he was an allstar defensemen , Christian was drafted 40th overall in 1979, Hawerchuk was drafted 1rst overall in 1981, Serge Savard came out of retirement at the request of his buddy GM John Ferguson to help mentor the young Babych who went straight into the lineup after being drafted .
The biggest money drain on the NHL for the last 25 years.
