If the jets were allowed to keep all their players from the WHA going to the NHL they wouldve won a cup that year hands down.
Unfortunately it wasn't the owner's decision, he'd foolishly deferred that. He was a business man, not a hockey guy, but his hockey guy, GM Rudy Pilous, was old school and said Wayne was "too skinny".
The cruel joke is that Pilous didn't last long with the team after that to see just how that decision would come back to haunt them.
Fkn eh, the NHL were terrified of the WHA, and if the Jets were able to keep their full roster, they would have run a muck and show how much the Jets were that good, but no, the NHL made sure the WHA would not come in and run the show...Oilers put that cry baby to bed and avenge the Jets and the WHA, thank you Gretzky bc you recognized the run n gun play of the Winnipeg Jets.
I wish the moose kept their original colors. Their jerseys used to be so nice
An artist named Paul Butler did a print called “Winnipeg without the Jets”, which used the original Jets logo but removed the Jet and the team wordmark, leaving just the word “Winnipeg” and an empty red disc hovering like a harvest moon over an empty horizon. It’s brilliant, and if I’m correct he did a very small run of sweaters in the last year or two. Would be an amazing add if you could ever track one down. Winnipeg Jets jerseys are better than the Atlanta Thrashers jerseys. For Atlanta Thrashers original away looks like something that's Galaga inspired.

Winnipeg is my favorite team in the western conference and my favorite Canadian team, at first it was honestly just cuz their jerseys and logos were always really clean. And then I ended up really liking their players, and now along with islanders games i watch every jets game every season.

The team's character is just as impressive as their skills. I give a lot of credit to Jets management/ownership who consider a player's fit with the rest of the team before signing them. Very proud of the guys we have regardless how far they go in the playoffs. Thanks for your support! Hope the Islanders do well too!

Im a jets fan since Atlanta. I knew they were doomed since 07 I'm glad they moved to Winnipeg. It's better than them folding or moving to Kansas City or Vegas. R.I.P. Atlanta NHL hockey I'm happy for you Winnipeg. I still havent been to Winnipeg yet to see the jets play.

I miss seeing the Thrashers uniforms. I thought both Atlanta sleave Jerseys where great. I know it's unpopular, but I love the Red Thrashers jersey.
Winnipeg 2.0 has a great look. Their white jersey is beautiful. I never liked the Jets 1.0 original logo until it was brought back as a throwback.
If they put "Winnipeg" in the swoosh that is under Jets, that would make the aviator jersey better. In fact, they have that on their t-shirts which have that logo.
The Jets 1974/75 Bobby Hull's #9 WHA jersey was the first jersey I ever had many moons ago. The Golden Jet will always be my favourite player for nostalgic reasons. Currently I have a 2016/17 Wheeler #26 and will be getting a '20/21 Hellebuyck #37 when they come out.
Atlanta's never had a bad looking jersey (the one stripe jersey is beautiful, IDGAF what anyone else says) and Winnipeg (even though I don't like the Jets) have always had good looking jerseys.

The red and the dark blue one? It looks like Seasame Street threw up all over it, but I like the alternate logo. It's okay. I like it more than the white jerseys.
The red one with the name Thrashers in yellow is actually kinda cool. Looks very streamlined.
Even tho i love winnipeg jets sweaters and crests of old the best, i must say i like the new crest tho!
The Moose should have kept the green and black jerseys
John Ferguson changed the Rangers jersey when he was GM in 76-77 which was hated by the fans. After he was fired from the Rangers he became GM of the Jets and brought over the jersey design to the WHA Jets..
I will forever defend the Jets current powder blue 3rd. Yes, it would be better with a logo instead of a script, but they still pop so well on television.

So happy you put on the Moose jersey. I agree that would have made a great NHL jersey. But ya it had to be the Jets. I think the city would have had a Vacouver level of riot if it wasn't! I guess I'm one of the few who like the third jersey. My wife hates it but I like the fact that they win often when they do wear it! I think it looks sharp.

The Aviator (light blue) is highly underrated and the heritage one are killer.

There is not one bad jersey in Jets history. Also they should not have left for Phoenix in the first place.

The Canadian dollar had nothing to do with the move. The main issue was the terrible deal the jets had with winnipeg enterprises Corp.

Winnipeg, Atlanta, & Winnipeg: all pretty dang nice. Four teams joined from the WHA. Edmonton who has some decent jerseys and a lot of ok ones (copper > orange). Quebec who died that my Avs might rise from their ashes (do not like Nordique jerseys). Hartford who has a classic look but who also died that my second team the Canes might rise from that smoldering whale corpse. And Winnipeg who just looks sharp from start to finish. I would totally be fine with saying Arizona was an expansion team and Winnipeg went to Atlanta before coming back home (cough Charlotte Hornets cough Cleveland Browns cough eventual SuperSonics cough). Awesome awesome awesome jerseys. Easily my favorite Canadian team for sure.

I became a MUCH bigger fan of the Jets third when I learned it was based on the Johnstown Jets from the 50s.

Jets 90's Jerseys always loved them and the all the Thrashers Jerseys . Thrashers word mark Jersey looks like a long selve football Jersey to me . when Winnipeg is back in the city for 15 to 20 seasons you see them finally changing to their old WHA uniforms full time Shannon .
Only ever had two Jets jerseys in my life.I'm just scared they will get dirty lol. Had a 1977 one when I was 5 had #4 with Sjoberg on it. And my signed Hull ccm replica WHA from the night they retired his # in 1989. They were selling 40 of them that night at the Arena for $40 a pop. Still have it.

that's EXACTLY what I've been thinking for the past few years!! ATLANTA is an IMPRESSIVELY good market for creating CANADIAN hockey teams!!! PLEASE next expansion, think about us in QC and get a new team in ATLANTA!!!! They could even call them the "Sudistes" and move 'em back here and call 'em the "Nordiques"! Wouldn't even be a big brand change :D (except for the temperature that is...)
For some reason, known only to God, I have the Jets 3rd jersey (Laine), and yes, I did notice the jet crossing the "T" immediately.

@@campbellorvis Glad to have him. He seems to have a good attitude, so I believe he will work out. I feel bad for Winnipeg fans though, Like Laine, DuBois wanted out of Columbus for no good reason, so I understand how Winnipeg fans feel about seeing Laine leave.
I remember game highlights in 1983 where Winnipeg would lose 5-4 and Hawerchuk would have 3 goals and an assist …..he was all they had and he was almost enough….that’s how good he was….I loved the original look and the one after.
The original Jets NHL 1979 jerseys were chosen by their GM John Ferguson, who actually helped design the former NYR jerseys of the 70's while he was the GM of the Rangers. When the Rangers went back to more traditional jerseys the Jets were able to take that design as their own. Selanne was traded after the Jets were sold, while the team finished the last season in Winnipeg. I think the Winnipeg Jets heritage jerseys are amazing. The Moose also had a RCAF 3rd jersey before the Jets returned to Winnipeg, which was based off of the RCAF Flyers team, which was also partially the inspiration of the current Jets jerseys.
cool collection, my dad roots for the canucks as do I he was born in Winnipeg so he roots for them in the playoffs hopefully this year will be different were so close yet so far from the playoffs GO CANUCKS GO!
If you notice….the thrashers jerseys ….the home one has the bird nesting (at home) and the away one has the bird traveling (away)
Looking back at this video, Reebok Black Ice jersey seems to be inspiration for Winnipegs Reverse Retro
A lot of them are very nice. The jets wordmark is not my cup of tea, but I like that they tried something different.
Thrashers jerseys were cool. I can’t stand the Jets current logo, colors. I want the originals or the jersey they had before they went to Phoenix.

The Thrashers jersey was one of the worst jerseys ever. The Jets 2.0 jersey is great and would be even better without the stripes.

Oh man, this is my favourite Hockey Guy video of all time. I hit like before listening to word one. You see, the Winnipeg Jets have held a tight grip on my heart ever since the fluffy pin-up boy referee Terry Collins (?) awarded a goal to Paul Coffee on a shot that clearly bounced off the post. This was during a playoff series in the 80's when a well-stacked Jets roster went up against the juggernaught Oilers and gave them a hard time. These were glorious days for an 11-year old growing up in small town Manitoba. I swear that I remember crying my eyes out when playboy Collins said the shot that clearly went off the post was a goal. I was livid! Anyway, where were we? Oh yeah, the jerseys. I have to say that although I was delighted to see the team back in the fold, I was truly saddened to see the Jets 2.0 jerseys. Every time I look at them I have visions of jet fighters flying over the stadium at the Super Bowl. A bit over the top military-wise in my opinion. Sports are all about fun, not bombs falling from a jet fighter! That aside, the colour combo is way off. Winters in Winnipeg are very dark and cold. Last thing a fan wants to experience is watching a team dressed up like a living equivalent to Seasonal Affective Disorder. Too dark. Too bleak. I have yet to watch this video, but I hope Hockey Guy agrees that the Jets should have gone retro and adopted the jerseys from the WHA days. Sure, the primary colour was dark blue, but that was offset by the glorious red pants. It was enough to put a bounce in your step. So yeah, we're all quarantined and clearly I have a lot of time on my hands, but I won't bother anyone further after saying this: Get rid of both the primary and hideous second jersey and go back to your Avco Cup winning days. Thomas Steen et al would approve. The end. P.S. I am only two minutes into this video and I already have an issue. The jersey you show when the Jets entered the NHL is very different from the Bobby Hull days. Go back and take a look. They barely resembled the ones you're showing. P.P.S. I have my popcorn and am ten minutes into this epic edition of Hockey Guy. Hockey Guy, I owe you an apology. You actually introduced a late 70's early 80's version of the glorious Jets jerseys. Still not the same, but close. P.P.P.s. I'm with you on the Thrashers jerseys. They were great.

Seeing the Moose jersey, it reminds me that I hate AHL teams that wear exactly the same uniform as their NHL affiliate, with just a different logo forcibly slapped onto the chest.
In my eyes, this somewhat degrades the otherwise great hockey league.
And on the other hand, I totally love and greatly respect franchises, such as Rochester Americans or Hershey Bears, that have created and KEPT their own identity.
Old jets are now coyotes and Atlanta thrashers are now new jets.

I believe they're not releasing the name because of work and supply shortages due to the virus. If they release the name, the market would be flooded with knock off merchandise. Not to mention they want to be able to meet demand initially as well, which at the moment is not feasible.
You should get the Manitoba Moose WASAC Jersey. The jets have one too. But I think they did a better with the moose.
The first 2 of the Jets jerseys previous to the move are my favs. I own the the 90s road blue jersey. Jets should bring them back.

I live in Atlanta and got into hockey in 2016. I hate that we had 2 nhl teams here and I never got to see either of them.

I honestly think you should've combined the Original Jets with Arizona because they dont have the same history.
Including the old jets with this franchise means you should combine the Wild and Northstars. The old jets still exist there just in Arizona. If they folded it would be a different story.
