I used to think tailoring is just something for an expensive suit and only rich people go to the tailor for regular clothes and most of my friends thought the same way. The most they do is shortening pants or sleeves, but that's it. I have bought so any new clothes because my old ones don't fit anymore, but then I found this series and went through my old clothes, selected the pieces I really liked and took them to the tailor. For some I was told there is nothing they could do, but others now fit better than ever and it was much cheaper than buying new clothes.
You can widen the waist. Lots of martial of those jeans is available. I have done it. And you cannot see it. Shortening of the pant leg gives you material to use to widen the waist. Or use one back pocket to use and widen the waist.
I would love it if you showed how you take in the hips of jeans. My waist is larger than jean manufacturers think it should be, and the result is excess fabric in the hips if the waist fits.
Great idea; one big catch - I rarely do this alteration as it negatively impacts the pockets ( making the opening too small) and it is difficult, if not impossible, to manuever around the metal rivets that are often hammered into this section of the jeans.
