Incase some of ya'll didn't get the reference, the It's Rigged is in reference to rigging up gear and lights. I guess some folks felt it was super click baity or something...
I think most of us who are filmmakers got the pun with the word play but also the industry can be very rigged. I just experienced this first hand when I pitched a project to some executives who literally were not even paying attention to my pitch because they already had the person selected before the pitch session started who they wanted to work with.
Hi Heather, I think you need to update your spot mount link: I’m trying buy the godox one with all asseoreies and support your channel. Also do prefer 26 degree or 36 degree?
This is exactly what I need… Whew!!! Glad I found this! Now I can concentrate on getting another piece of cool gear that enables me to justify why I am not making any content. That was a close call. I was almost about to have to actually create something…. Crisis averted! 😂 Thanks!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed! Oh, totally forgot to put that in the description, it is now. I use Impact Varipoles. But other brands make them too. Here's a link that'll show you a bunch: geni.us/CrOzwq
I thought I found the perfect solution for the droop when the camera goes to the end of the slider. And I did, but the cost is $129! Okay, I'm gonna buy some cheap monopods to do the supporting. xD
iFootage stands unique. Couldn't find alternative for it. Like Aputure has GVM (America) & Godox (rest of the world), Vanguard/sirui/manfrotto has Ulanzi, but no alternative so far for the ifootage 😟
Hey Heather! 😍 How are you? This gear is really useful. I liked the 1:05 camera movement. Could see a lot of work and effort throughout the video. Is the lake nearby? cuz taking all the gear with you would definitely be quite difficult... Why did the video end so fast? As always love to watch your videos. Waiting for the new video...💜
Hey! doing well, thanks! :D Taking the gear wasn't so bad, it mostly fits into a camera bag. And I ended it quickly because I didn't want to drag out the ending. And so folks could move onto more of my videos if they wanted to :D
Looks like we are using the same late 2011 Macbook Pro. ;) I don't edit on mine, it's my general use computer. I don't think anyone has a Windows computer so old. With the kind of videos you make you must be the iFootage grippy-clampy-swivel-pivot-thingy Master by now.
@@jamesburton1050 - I found an article where PCmag did a review on that laptop in 2013, and that is close enough. That's rare. My Windows laptops seem to fall apart after 3 or 4 years. My daughter had to have a Macbook Pro when she started college in 2005. We had no experience with Mac at that time. 5 years later, with zero maintenance or "cleaning out," that Macbook Pro worked as good as the day it was bought. That got my attention. A number of years later my wife got a used one (this one). Then I had a laptop with Windows 7. I had used Windows for 20 years, starting with Windows 95. I had built our tower computers (4 of them) and knew my way around computers. However, Windows 7 was the end for me. They made sure it was as inconvenient to use or get around in as possible, and I was done. In 20 years Apple could not sway me to their product, but Microsoft swayed me to Apple. When my wife bought another used Macbook Pro I took her old Macbook Pro. It took a little getting used to but man am I glad I switched. I also edit on a 27" iMac now. My employer still uses Windows and I cannot tell you how many millions of dollars they lose in productivity every year as employees sit around and wait for the computer to finish loading their account when they log in, and then waiting for company webpages and email to load as the computer constantly freezes up. Same thing with opening and using programs like Excel or AutoCAD. So much time is killed. I sit there and say "This is why I switched to Mac. This is my experience anyway. I know a lot of people are happy with Windows. In my opinion/experience, Windows XP was the most stable and best version of the operating system. I still have a tower computer with XP on it. I keep it alive due to some film projects having been edited on it. Did I say I am wordy? LOL.
@@northcoaststudios interesting! I think it helps too that Precision is their workstation model. And I have an SSD, HDD, and 16 GB ram in there. Doesn't do well for video editing, but great on pictures and general use. Also can't say I've ever had trouble with my work machine, but then they're on a 3 year rotation, so not sure that counts, lol! (And most of my work is browser based.)
@@jamesburton1050 - The company I work for gets new computers every 4 or 5 years, but they also get computers with specs a little below what they actually need in order to save money, which they easily lose, and more, in lost productivity. I don't have a business degree so that may be why I don't understand this is the best thing to do. 😜
@@FellowFilmmaker I’ve got incredibly cramped working conditions, would you be able to offer advise on saving space? Essentially I’m doing product videos and photos on top of a cabinet in a corner. I’ve looked at varipoles and other rigging options, but the choices are quite overwhelming. Currently I’m using lighting stands and tripods, which makes photographing top down shots pretty hard. I was considering a wall mount support, but I’m not entirely sure if that would solve the problem.

Thanks for the heads up! I just fixed it. And I recommend the 19 or 26. I have the 26 and like it alot.
Thanks for letting me be a part of this! I fully support using the support rod 👍
Glad to have you Tom! :D
It's good to have support!

nice one there James

Lots of good ideas. And I really like how creative you are. Tom rocks.
Thank you very much!
Haha, yes he does :D
I'm taking the plunge and watching the whole playlist, thank you for getting this information out!
Hope you enjoyed
Cool use cases, thanks Heather!
Glad you like them!
This super short video is jam packed with awesome tips. Thank you! I definitely need some varipoles in my life.
Love to hear that! :D Yes, Varipoles are quite handy
Thank you for your helpful videos !
I've just finished my youtube studio "V2" and most good advices came from here :)
Cheers !
Great to hear! Thanks for watching as well
Love iFootage gear...solid as always!!!!
Agreed! Some of the best
iFootage makes solid stuff. I use their crab arms often.
For sure :D I like how well thought out everything is. Especially love the retractable 1/4 20 mount
very interesting and to the point. thanks.
Very welcome
Incredible video! Love all the uses for this tool. What is the wall spreader you used towards the end of the video to hang it from the ceiling?

I use one of their crab arms for hanging my video monitor from the ceiling (I do mostly top down shots). Need one or two more for my microphone next.
That's a cool use case! :D So many things you can do with things like this
I need this in my life
glad you enjoyed the video
I love this thing! Also got a spider crab
Awesome :D they are great
It is amazing. I lterally have one and only just got it out to review it. 2 days ago and blimey its amazing at what it can hold.

sometimes you just gotta find what works. Cheap light stands can also do the trick
manfrotto Magic Arm is my favourite !
Good to know! :D

Heather you should check out DSLR Shooter’s video on using a TV for a background or base for effects. It is a great solution for product videos
@G why is DSLR video shooter so much bigger then?
@G got curious. DSLR video shooter is also a much older channel. Curious for more info
I've seen that idea used around a bit in the filmmaking world. Have tried it myself actually, got a video on the channel about it (Reddiwip ad)
@G oh, ok. And no, I'm not high, I just haven't watched anything on DSLR video shooter in several months. Will try to look up between other projects

For best results, no lower than 80cm
