I remember hearing about it like it was yesterday. The internet wasn't what it is today so we got all our news from MTV news. I remember them breaking the story & we were all in shock.
I had just dropped my son off to Respite and was on my way home in a taxi. The driver gave me the horrible news. At first I didn't get what he was saying bc you know you're not expecting to hear something like that. I'm like, what, Aaliyah who? Then I was like no way, and he was saying, "Its true, its true, just heard it on the radio." Immediately my mind went to my niece who at the time was a great fan of Aaliyah. As soon as I got home I call her Mom to give her the bad news but for some reason my niece didn't get the message til she read it in a newspaper or something. She took it so hard, poor thing. I was livid at her Mom for not getting the news to her in time. I didn't want her to find out from a paper. Anyways, miss you Babygirl. Rip💝
Alethea Ferrell Aww that smile. Did you see that smile? I swear AALIYAH and the late SELENA could light up the darkest dungeon with those smiles of theirs. Such sweet angels that left us too soon right along with Left Eye and all the rest. So many I couldn't list them all. Rip babygirl💝
"And...I am truly blessed. And I thank God for his blessings every single chance I get." That's important to do...see how Aaliyah is teaching us something? And what did she say we must do when facing disappointments or if we don't succeed? She said to "Try Again." And in the song "I Care 4 U" (beautiful song btw) what did she urge us all to do? "Press on, for me." And lastly, how did she tell us to move on the dance floor? In the words of Killer Mike on the Outkast track, "back, back, forth, forth." P.S. I'm always amazed at Aaliyah's brother. He shows such poise, grace, and a calm strength just like his sista. R.I.P Baby Girl you will never be forgotten...

I was 17 and it was my senior year in High School when I got the devastating news that my favorite singer EVER was gone! From that day until this one I don’t think I’ve ever hurt so much in my life! It felt like the wind was knocked out of me and a piece of me went with her! I miss her so much! My heart continues to go out to her beautiful family, true friends, and fans like us! I’m getting teary eyed now, I gotta go ✌🏾

i was only a toddler when she died but my mom helped me gain much knowledge of Aaliyah. it’s insane how soon she died. imagine what she could have done with her talent up until now.....
I remember that day, riding in the car with my parents, skimming through the local newspaper seeing the headline Aaliyah dies in plane crash. My heart sank, when I got home it was all over the news. One of the saddest day ever. Then 9/11 happened two weeks later. 😢
I never realized how much her brother looks like her until now … I miss her presence in this life and I hate that it was suddenly gone but I still listen to her albums to this day ! ❤
I am still haunted by what happened to her. I pray she didn't suffer in her last moments. She was a class act. NOBODY can ever match her unique talent.
She didn't wanna get on the plane, so she stayed behind in the vehicle they arrived in! Someone then came to check on her, gave her a sleeping pill, and then carried a sedated Aaliyah onto the plane! She had NO CLUE she was gonna meet the end
RIP Aaliyah she passed away 20 days after my grandmother passed away on my mom side. Then 9/11 happened weeks later. 2001 wasn't a good year for me. Then my grandfather passed away on my dad side in December that year
I'm remember when I first found out... I was recording the music on the radio stopped for an important message to say there was a plane crash. R& B Princess Aaliyah is dead. I looked up to this woman... I have been rocking the swoop bangs since I first seen her. I loved everything about her growing up and as adult. Thanking God I was alive in the last of the greatest eras to witness life in its moments.... I'm not crying you are.... I need a time machine!!
I miss Aaliyah a lot. Still have trouble accepting that the crash happened. I'm now 27 and she died when she was 22...crazy. Such a short time really. Supposedly she had premonitions of her death too. "It is dark in my favorite dream. Someone is following me. I don't know why. I'm scared. Then suddenly I lift off. Far away. How do I feel? As if I am swimming in the air. Free. Weightless. Nobody can reach me. Nobody can touch me. It's a wonderful feeling." She was having a recurring dream...maybe even an out of body experience. I used to have some recurring dreams that were pretty catastrophic...but they stopped. Later on I got in a car crash...looked bad, but I came out with only a broken foot. Makes me wonder if my dream had anything to do with it.
I loved her but I think of her passing more because I was sitting there holding my infant son when the word of the crash came across the news. I held my son and remembered saying to myself that I was hurt for her mother. I couldn’t imagine her pain. Soon after that, my infant son Bryan Keyshaun Golden passed away. He was 2 months old on the day he left me. I then understood what it felt like to lose your world in a day. If not for God and my daughter who was 3 at the time, I would have been forever lost. I miss my son but I know he’s in a great place and so is “ baby girl”. Rest Peacefully to my son and to Aaliyah.
Her passing was just such a tragedy. I'm 21 years old, & I can't even imagine what it would be like if next year I died. That's just way too young.. :(
I remember running to my grandparents room (they don’t speak English but they knew she was my favorite) & I went in there crying & turned on MTV news & BET... 😞 my grandmother was like “Wow she sung beautifully (in Spanish)”.. I mourned Aaliyah bad.. it was so sad. I love music so when she was gone, I felt the music industry so sad.. rip baby girl

She loved her family and friends , and her career💯❤️ . She was a inspiration to everyone. Gone But Not Forgotten 💯❤️❤️. We love you and Miss you Babygirl ❤️❤️❤️💯👑
I still remember the day i found out she passed away. I was in middle school on the couch at home watching 106 & Park with my twin sister and they announced her passing there on the show. We cried so hard that it upset my mother. She was leaving out the front door for work and told us to stop crying because we don't know that lady in real life. I loved Aaliyah so much she was the reason i wanted to sing. Forever in our hearts 💝
Miss you all forever baby girl Aaliyah and Lisa " left eye " Lopes may y'all rest in peace eternally with our Heavenly Father. Your music and movies will forever a legend.
I first knew of Aaliyah when i was a young girl, i remember i was at a Walmart parking lot and i found a random cassette with no case, i put it in my pocket went home and listened to it, fell in love with the song, it was At your best, you are love, and it had the remix too, since then i became an Aaliyah fan
I remember listening to the radio when they announced Aaliyah had passed and they played At your best I remember crying because we were the same age I can't believe how time flies after all these years.
I will never forget this day. I was booming the doctor Dolittle soundtrack as usual, then coming home from school hearing the news. I was in denial, every time I heard her name on the news, I would walk out of the living room, go to my room, and put on Are You That Somebody. I couldn’t watch Queen of the Damned or listen to her music from her 3rd album. Even as an 11 year old, it was too painful 😔

Kieran Pugh they were going to work together but They couldn't due to Scheduling conflicts of performances & Interview and They were supposed to Do "Nasty Remix 2000" also.
Wasn't to be. Now she sings for God.💝
@@thenameisali1567 maybe there is a demo or something that got recorded separately at least when we got a title
I was 15 years old when I heard the news of her passing in 2001; I wish she was still alive.
August 25 2001 😪😪😪
I had just turned 11 my mom told and I just burst out crying
I remember hearing about it like it was yesterday. The internet wasn't what it is today so we got all our news from MTV news. I remember them breaking the story & we were all in shock.
that or the Radio, it truly hit those of that era hard including me it was a sad day....
Till this day I can’t believe it & it’s been 16 years...
Rip💝
It was so unreal! I really was trying to not make it real but the more it was shown the more it became real! Still unreal!!
Every time I watch videos , listen to hear , see her my heart breaks! Her time wasn’t up!🙏🏽 I Miss You Aaliyah
Damn it, I cried AGAIN!! Still hurts 17 years later.
There will never be another talent like Aaliyah. She is irreplaceable. Love you always doll. You are missed. xoxo
They look so broken hearted...
They is broken hearted
I always said when I grow up I wanna be just like her. I use to wait for every video, song, commercial, movie, show whatever she was on I was glued to the TV. ... When she died I had just seen her giving away that Escalade on 106&park I cried so hard like I really knew her and said Damn music ain't gone be the same no more longliveAaliyah
Shes just absolutely so beautiful.. one in a billion
A Zillion Billion
I'm sure being up there and paying tribute to Aaliyah days after her passing was the most difficult thing Rashad, Missy, Timbaland and Ginuwine ever had to do. Janet is also a class act.
G White janet loved that girl... They were friends..they met through Missy.... Im sure it was hard on her as well..
Lmao 😂 right Janet was a mess knowing damn well ...
@@torturingsouls9635 What is this supposed to mean?

her death had a big impact on everybody i can remember the mood change it felt like a good spirit had left this earth. It was very emotional still is till this day. We love you baby girl
Yes it did.
This really true! I'm French and i i just felt that
This was such a beautiful tribute to her. Aaliyah would have loved it so much. RIP Aaliyah
I remember being so devastated when she died, I was probably 15 and to this day she's still my favorite. She changed rnb for the better.
01 has some of the best music and the most tragedy in this country. That year was one of the darkest. We miss you Aaliyah.
When she smiled at the end, that's what did it for me!! 😭😭😞😩
I’m getting teary eyed now, I gotta go ✌🏾
I was on a family camping trip I almost drowned in the lake so I told my aunt I wanted to go home we was listening to the wiz an I heard that Aaliyah had passed in a crash my heart was crashed Aaliyah was my role model an my inspiration I still repeat her music specially one in a million
i hope shes singing again right now in heaven
Still hurts 💔
🕊Aaliyah blessed us with her music so we continue to listen #icareforyou
Thank you babygirl 💗
just hearing the pain in all their voices is heartbreaking and she is so missed
i was only a toddler when she died but my mom helped me gain much knowledge of Aaliyah. it’s insane how soon she died. imagine what she could have done with her talent up until now.....
rip Aaliyah from one of your biggest fans who still plays your music everyday
I remember that day, riding in the car with my parents, skimming through the local newspaper seeing the headline Aaliyah dies in plane crash. My heart sank, when I got home it was all over the news. One of the saddest day ever. Then 9/11 happened two weeks later. 😢
Week? I believe it was a little more that just 2
I never realized how much her brother looks like her until now … I miss her presence in this life and I hate that it was suddenly gone but I still listen to her albums to this day !
Destiny had a terrible set of cards for her. So devastating the way she passed and so young.

He wasn't "buried on top of her" he was placed above her crypt!
Jada Cole Oh my word. I didn’t know that. Ugh, I can only imagine what her mother is going through.
Rest in Peace Michael Haughton and Aaliyah.

RIP AALIYAH 💜! The undisputed Princess of R&B👑
RIP Aaliyah she passed away 20 days after my grandmother passed away on my mom side. Then 9/11 happened weeks later. 2001 wasn't a good year for me. Then my grandfather passed away on my dad side in December that year
🙏🏽
Hope you're doing better 🙏🤗❤️
I'm remember when I first found out... I was recording the music on the radio stopped for an important message to say there was a plane crash. R& B Princess Aaliyah is dead. I looked up to this woman... I have been rocking the swoop bangs since I first seen her. I loved everything about her growing up and as adult. Thanking God I was alive in the last of the greatest eras to witness life in its moments.... I'm not crying you are.... I need a time machine!!
I keep saying the same thing. We need a fucking time machine!!!!
I wish I could’ve took her to 2002 :(
I miss Aaliyah a lot.
She meant everything she said from the heart i can see it in her face.

Oh my God! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 May the soul of your beloved son Rest In Peace 🙏.

Her passing was just such a tragedy. I'm 21 years old, & I can't even imagine what it would be like if next year I died. That's just way too young.. :(
Uhmm... anyone in 2024? I swear RUclips always recommends these vids at the right time
Also RIP aliyah 😢
I remember running to my grandparents room (they don’t speak English but they knew she was my favorite) & I went in there crying & turned on MTV news & BET... 😞 my grandmother was like “Wow she sung beautifully (in Spanish)”.. I mourned Aaliyah bad.. it was so sad. I love music so when she was gone, I felt the music industry so sad.. rip baby girl

“We haven’t lost anyone, we gained an angel” it’s been almost 20 years sense you’ve been gone . long live babygirl ♾💕
I'm sorry ... If it was me talking on the stage I would have broken down.
Her brother is a strong person
Kads Brezi he didn't HAVE to do anything though
I can hear the pain in his voice and see it on his face
Kinqmar same I wouldn’t be able to speak
I would’ve lost it
I remember listening to the radio when they announced Aaliyah had passed and they played At your best I remember crying because we were the same age I can't believe how time flies after all these years.
DAMN! Janet was looking beautiful here
I will never forget this day.
I will never forget when I heard that she passed .. she was my favorite singer ..such a beautiful person!
Watching this in 2019 still getting choked up like it happened yesterday smh. Rip queen. #FreeAaliyahMusic
My aunt was a huge aaliyah fan. She died 4 months later. A week before chrimsas at 11.
