I spent the last three nights watching each segment. I was struck by the contrast between the quiet, holy lives of these men and the frequent, loud, self-absorbed RUclips ads that would interrupt this moving documentary. There is so much noise, pain, distraction, and yearning in this world to fill the hole inside ourselves, when the answer can be found in the total surrender these men have given for their faith. I sleep better at night knowing there are Carthusians in the world, praying for us all.
Moved to tears watching this. Such calmness, serenity and faith. God bless all of them and also to the family whose children are both serving the Lord. ❤🙏🙏
I truly have never seen a video like this : I think it's a breakthrough . Having watched most of the Carthusian videos on utube this Stands out. First the relationship between the monks is powerful-the contact, the talks, the walks & the supportiveness. When the young monk is reading & hesitates to avoid crying is so moving for he knows God is his everything. There is so much more variety in their life in the cell -painting, sharing with other monks, etc. I'm so impressed with the older monk, who had skin cancer. His smile brightens my Heart. I wish I could do a retreat with them. Thank you.
I have watched all 3 parts of this documentary series. Thanks to KBS to have pay huge effort and hearts to produce such true and meaningful recordings of the lives of Carthusian monastery. It's so touching. I was very calm and peaceful when I watched it. Thanks God for giving me chance to watch it. May God bless all the monks in the monastery and their families.
I don’t know these men and I’ll never meet them, but they have deeply touched my heart. I’m not religious at all but I can appreciate and admire their devotion to this way of life and to each other. Their bond with one another is beautiful and pure. They are all brothers in Christ and they all care and help one another. The older ones teaching the younger monks. This is truly beautiful!
More than half a century ago, when I was 15 years old and given a dispensation to make a 30-day silent Ignatian retreat, my confessor was a 90-year-old Jesuit. "You seem to be a very happy young man. Never forget, that joy is the surest sign of His existence in your life." And these men are living proof that that is so.
This documentary is just as beautiful as Into Great Silence. The ending is extra poignant as the German priest who gives a little wave at the end, died in a fire at the monastery only three years later. May he Rest in Christ’s love.
I am so sad in my heart for him and his community. They must have been devastated, even though they believe there is so much more than this earthly life. I pray that God surely has him now.
@@laerwensame here. I feel this man was a saint. The appearence on his face.....he was already united with God and the fire is a symbol of the fire of God wich was inside of him. Nevertheless, i feel sad to read this
wow this video really moved me.I hope and pray that in our generation we will have more vocations for religious life and more youth will turn their back to the world and offer their life to God.The family is so lucky to have two religious.Hoping this video will have more views so it can reach and move as many hearts as it can.
We live in a noisy world. These brave spiritual men live in silence detached from the din of the world. May their prayers include is equalize the noise so we could also hear God. Like Brother Moon and his Sister Sun (Monk and the Sister Nun), the balance off each other thinking of each other in the way to their perfection to their married Master. Thank you for making this beautiful documentary and may God bless us all.
Thank you for giving us a glimpse into the lives of these monks ..truly holy and inspiring...our world certainly needs their prayers!! The Korean family's visit with their son was so moving ..what a special family to have a nun and a monk giving their lives to serve God and His people!! ❤❤❤ I love your channel!!
Hno Esteban María cuidó con gran caridad a los enfermos de La Defensión . Le mando un abrazo en la Paz del Señor.Su sacrificio y oraciones son fructificas.
Thank you for sharing a moving documentary about the lives of the Carthusians in Korea. I’ve seen many times Into Great Silence about the monks in France, but it’s inspiring to see how St. Bruno’s message and love of Christ have spread to the other ends of the world.
Thank you K-Doc for this outstanding documentary. You are my absolute favorite channel. The producer and the team have done an incredible job. As someone who isn’t religious, I was initially skeptical and thought “I might be bored” but it turned out to be completely the opposite. I was so hooked that I binge-watched all three parts and couldn’t find another documentary on this subject that is as well-written and filmed. No commentary, just silence, the stunning visuals speak volumes. Truly brilliant, the most moving documentary I’ve ever seen. Even though I am not religious, this deeply resonated with me and brought me a profound sense of peace. I hold immense admiration for these monks who lead such humble lives. They are incredibly inspiring. I long to meet them one day, but unfortunately, their isolation from the outside world makes it impossible. We truly need more people like them in our chaotic world. I hope you can create a documentary about Buddhist monks. My two-day stay at 화엄사 Hwaeomsa temple in 지리산 Jirisan was the most profound experience I’ve ever had.
I ve been watching this many times. Beautifull men in there simplicity. Holy people! It makes me feel little as a christian but motivates me to give myself more and more to God
There are cloistered monasteries in the Philippines such as the Carmelites cloistered nuns or monks. My aunt was a Carmelite monk nun. Families can't see theirr faces without being covered by a veil. They accept family visits like on their birthdays.
Pope Francis will be shocked watching this and see strict observance "what have you done, you want to divide the church with that carthusian rite mass???"
Sorry but they are not the only contemplative monastery in Asia. I personally have visited the Dominic nuns in Bein Hoa Vietnam and the Carmeltie nuns in Siagon (the same moastery St Therese of Liseaux speaks about in her famous autobiography). There is a very large Cistercian (Men) monastery in South Vietnam right on the ocean, bursting at the seems with vocations.
El dulce de boniato y de higos son exclusivos de los cartujos. En la Cartuja de Sevilla se hicieron tortillas de huevo de mil maneras que fueron famosas.
There was a fire at this monastery in 2022. The German monk (Jacob) aka the bell ringer sadly died in the fire. He was found in the hall of the monastery. They believe it was a arson attack.
The Pope has to be with his people visiting the .Vatican, but he is holy and has set of times for prayers and work and the problems of the .Christian world he has to tackle.

That is a very good observation. Somewhere along the line, many had lost what is important.

Your comments were banal and ridiculous. How did these folks make you feel?

This is the best in-depth video I have ever seen into the Carthusian life. Unfortunately I am too old at 69 to enter into a monastery.
You can embrace the spirit of Carthusian life into your daily life brother.
