as someone who also has a history of fainting and is a people pleaser, there's truly no experience like being embarrassed about fainting and trying to make everybody feel ok and comfortable and not freaked out about it, while you are actively passing out. the "i'm sorry, is that ok?" really hit haha.
Colleen, I’m a nurse and the craziest things will make someone pass out!! People can be covered in tattoos, gets a poke for a blood draw, passes out! 🤣 You’re not alone! Hope your leg is ok!

It's terrible a dermatologist would say that. I think their chief concern should be about making sure your skin is healthy instead of trying to upsell patients on cosmetic procedures
I have the same fainting problem, and it also happened once in a doctors office lol. It is very annoying and sucks when you know something isn’t a big deal but your brain is making it a big deal
I get that feeling during a panic attack where I feel like I’m about to faint. Can’t see or hear. Rooms goes weird. you sure you’re not having a panic attack? Doesn’t always have to be hyperventilating. It’s like the adrenaline kicks in and you feel all weird
Listen to this: i am a doctor, i watch operations and part take in them daily....and sometimes i faint when i get my blood drawn 🙃 sooo 🤷♀️😂 its okay girl

I used to donate blood, so one time, at work, I was donating blood, they barely got started and I felt like I was going to throw up and pass out, I was also sweating profusely! They had to lay me down, give me a cold rag, etc. I thought it was just a fluke, but the next 2 times it happened again. I feel like I was so worried about it happening, that I made it happen. 🤷🏼♀️

I'm a fainter too. I also tell Dr's that I'm a fainter. They appreciate it. Do not feel embarrassed.

5:36 the same thing happened to me at the dermatologist I said “umm I’m getting really hot” 😂 she ran to get me a wet cloth. The room was so quiet so the sound of the cutting and the smell of burning and feeling the stitches was too much for me 😂
Have you had an assessment for
Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS)? It honestly sounds like a lot of the symptoms you describe.

listening to you talk about being embarrassed with fainting was so confusing. i genuinely cannot understand where the embarrassment comes from? i was trying to relate (as i faint often) and i just couldn't get why it would be so embarrassing, especially in a setting where youd be around doctors! anxiety is such a strange thing and affects us all differently, it was very interesting to hear. ❤

My daughter is a fainter too. She faints getting shots at the pediatrician and when she had blood taken. She was reading a book to me to distract her and then she slowly passed out and I barely caught her in time. It makes me so nervous any time I know she’s getting shots or bloodwork done 😅

Colleen! Years ago, I took my shoes and socks off after work and a LIVE spider was balled up IN my sock at the top between the sock and my big toe!! AAAHHHHHHH!!!!!! 8HRS and it just was balled up and snuggled in! YIKES!! I'm still not over it lol
The first time I ever felt faint was when I got a tuberculosis test for the first time. I am not afraid of needles so I absolutely was not expecting it. My ears were ringing and I could barely see and I was sweating. But naturally, I didn’t tell anyone 🤪 I didn’t end up fainting. The incision was bleeding a little bit, so the nurse told me to wash it off. The cold water on my wrists brought me back.
Then a year or so after that my roommate thought she had mono (she did not). So we were all googling symptoms and when I read about swollen lymph nodes I had that same, almost faint-y reaction. Again, didn’t faint, also didn’t tell anyone. I just pretended it was fine and it went away. Then this summer my dad had Lyme disease and was describing his weird symptoms and that also almost made me faint. I have no idea what triggers it and what doesn’t cause usually I am fine with medical things. And it had literally never happened until two years ago.

I’m so sorry you fainted. But hearing that this also happens to you makes me feel better because it happens to me too. Usually when I get blood drawn but if I’m too hot or seeing one of my kids get hurt makes the feeling come on too. When I was in labor with my son they poked me so many times trying to get an IV in I fainted and lost my contractions!! It was horrible. Took hours of walking around to get them back because I was so scared of being induced. Needless to say he was my last born. All done, 3rd and final. Wish I had some advice but it still happens to me and I fear it happening every medical appt.

I'm the same way! I am a fainter with pain and pregnancy and more. I've learned to read the signs and I lay down and put my feet up!
Colleen-I fainted during my wedding dress fitting this month and it was SO EMBARRASSING I totally get what you mean by it feeling so stupid. I genuinely was so embarrassed about it. The seamstress was so nice and said it happens all the time. I just felt so dumb cuz she was chatting with my bridesmaids and mother and I was just like “um, im so sorry to interrupt…I think I’m going to pass out” 😂 one of my bridesmaids had gone to the bathroom and she said she was gone two minutes and came back to me sitting down with my head in a trash can 😂😂😂😂

Omg I also almost fainted at the doctor this week! It also happens to me sometimes after medical things, and it's so embarrassing! I'm pretty sure it's called Vasovagal syncope, and it's very common, according to the internet.
Fainting is not something to be embarrassed about it happens you shouldn’t feel that way about something you can’t control

I have vasovagal syncope (lightheaded from blood but only in specific circumstances when I also haven’t had enough to eat yet that day). And it’s gotten slowly worse as I’ve had increasingly bigger physical responses which makes me more nervous which makes me more prone to such reactions when I’m trying to do simple things like get a shot or have my blood sugar checked. I’m just glad I don’t have any conditions that would require regularly being stuck with needles because geez no thank you

Vasovagal Syncope is what I had last year do to stress. It causes fainting spells with my social anxiety. I hope you’re ok.

I was at work when my vision went black and I had to sit on the ground and have a coworker drive me home. It was scary! And I totally know what she means with the hearing and vision thing ugh it's the worst!
Same fainted when I had my stitches checked after a routine knee surgery. Feeling the doctor fiddling with it, ugh it was rough

I had to have something cut open and drained on my body a few months ago and I did surprisingly well! And I too warn medical professionals of the possibility of me fainting.
I once fainted and threw up in a new friend's BED 🙃 I felt it coming but I convinced myself I could fight it. I could not. She didnt want to hang out much after that.
The first time I fainted was on a school field trip when I was 7. Still not really sure why, maybe I was hot? Had to wear a heart monitor for a week after that.
The tugging reminds me of the tugging when I had a c section. Smelling the catherization and feeling getting pulled but not feeling it blechhhhhh

Omg u have POTS!! Get a tilt table test done that's how I finally got diagnosed after 20 yrs of being gaslit by Drs. Dysautonomia is not a joke and hard to diagnose and treat.

I faint after needles and injections. I have to tell every doctor and it’s embarrassing! It helps to lay down when I get shots. I also can’t just go to a regular cvs pharmacy in the corner to get a shot. I need a full clinic and a cot. 😂
when you are stress don't lock your knees if you can help it that can make you faint
I have to tell you because I’ve been tuning in for years and think your a super amazing person! Super mom, super crafty, super funny and artistic! You are generally all round a fantastic person! We all have forms of anxiety in this world but build up your self confidence because you’re amazing! Stay kind to yourself! 💕🙏🏼
I faint in public just so it’s a little more embarrassing. I smash my head every time. 🤕Mine is a form of Epilepsy. Once I passed out while seeing a band and the staff assumed I was drunk but ironically I was the designated driver for the night. Please look into it Colleen. ❤
I'm desperate for a dermatologist appointment. I have had a rash for over a month and been to the doctor twice trying to get help and the soonest appointment I can get is February. And the other place around here books a year out. it's insane

the way that you fainted and went ahead with the rest of your day is CRAZY to me. I'm a Medically Complex girlie with a laundry list of issues (its so long i have to keep a long note on my phone bc even tho IM the sick one, i always forget one of my ailments 😂) and I'm usually the one who's doing unhinged things while feeling sick and making everyone around me worried but the ONE thing ive never done is faint so i''m in AWE that you just,,,, drove your self home??? did mom things???? i'm so thoroughly impressed. I feel you so much on the passing out! I don’t really have a fear of needles but my body does NOT like them. I had an experience where I got my blood drawn and I had that same feeling and they had to wheel chair me into an exam room so I could lay down. Then from that day I asked every time to lay down and once the lady made it seem like I was the biggest inconvenience so I stopped asking. And was fine for a while but went to a new doctor and was also fine but still never told them I passed out in the past and ended up full on passing out getting blood drawn. It was legit like a cartoon when they show someone waking up to people staring down at them 😂 it’s funny now but was definitely scary. Now I make sure to lay down and don’t think my doctor would even let me sit up if I asked. lol
But life likes to give me 100 issues that require bloodwork. A couple weeks ago I got tested for PCOS and a few other things because my hubby and I are going on over 1.5 years of trying for a baby. And they needed 4 vials of blood and I have the worst veins. If they have to fish the needle around that’s when my body is like nope!
They had to poke me twice and by the end I was so sweaty I had an ice pack on and also in my head was like don’t pass out don’t pass out. Just a little longer it’s almost over. It worked but def not a fun time :( so i definitely understand where you are coming from!!

I fainted once during a glucose test while I was pregnant. I told the staff multiple times that I felt like I was going to pass out, but they just said it would be quick and to sit down. They got distracted talking to someone, and by the time they turned around, I had already fainted and was halfway out of the chair. When I came to, they yelled at me for not saying anything, even though I had been warning them from the moment I drank the syrup. Which at that time they had told me to go for a walk to stop from fainting.
