A few things I noted from this video: I'm thinking the "throttle response" line was just random car jargon the writers threw in but it might not be, a rotary engine doesn't make much torque on the low end so unless you're high in the rpms it won't be very responsive. In that since Sean is kinda right as a traditional American crossplane V8 tends to have a lot of low end torque and peak at much lower rpms. Outside of that generality most modern drive by wire throttle bodies lack the responsiveness of old school cables ones on stock ecu tune since the ecu is usually programmed to smooth it out, meaning you step on the throttle and instead of it opening fully that instant it's slightly delayed. Nowadays people use pedal commanders but a good tune will also solve that issue but I think they rolled the dice and got lucky with a line that was just vague enough to work. Throttle response in a rx8 would be fly by wire throttle body. So it would just be a matter of tuning it's action to come on a little sooner. It's basically what a pedal controller does these days...it intercepts the throttle signal and alters it. Back then though it would need an ecu tune through the obd2 port.
The 350z featured at 8:23 is owned by a character named “Tea Hair”. I don’t remember Tea Hair ever showing up in the movie but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was just one of DK’s henchmen that is featured in some of the scenes in the back room/ Hans garage.

The gtt question just get the 6 speed swap for the gtr. A few different parts but it pretty common and can run in rear wheel drive no worries. Gtt is only rear wheel drive but it does have 4wheel steer. Use to own one back when I was 22. Had a diff locker and about 350hp was a lot of fun. I had the 5 speed though which to be honest isn't that bad 3rd gear is very long. The 6 speed swap from the gtr they can run it in rear wheel drive only. People do the entire 4wd driveline conversions too but not as popular these days due to cost.
350z has a header on each side then catalytic converters then then join at a Y-pipe which has 2 resonators at the top of the Y, then one straight pipe to the muffler
Point 1, no civilized person downshifts without rev matching. Point 2, rotary's love to be revved high so redlining the rx7 isn't an issue. Point 3, the skyline didn't just merge, it downshifted and floored it, thus it was showing off. Point 4, the Tokyo expressway is no normal highway. If I had an rx7 and an R34 did that to me on the Tokyo expressway I would punch the throttle so hard that the car would enter another dimension.
The car that you were confused whether it was an s13 or an r32 is a Sileighty which is an 180sx with a s13 front end because of the 180sx chassis being identical to the s13 it was cheaper to put on static headlights than it was to replace pop-ups hence the Sileighty was born and then in 1998 Nissan actually released a production version of the Sileighty ( it's said like Sil "for silvia" eighty "for 180sx")
Must pay to get the R34 Getrag then. That's the only 6 speed manual in existence that has 2 output ports, with the forward facing output on the right hand side (driver's side of a jdm car) of the vehicle. As someone whos been riding motorcycles for years, that custom chopper with the duel nitrous cans would kill you straight up. As soon as you hit the button that thing would high side you into next month. The reason roll bikes that are either turbo'd or have a nitrous kit have an extended swing arm and are lowered is to keep the front wheel down from all the torque and even then sometimes the front wheel comes up. That bike has none of that
350z usually has a Ballance tube or x, the exhaust gets close together where it routes thru the trans tunnel. But the sound could be affected by many things, diameter, and type of tubing,( thick aluminized steel, stainless, titanium) all sound different
That orange car that was in the scene where they were drifting on the Touge that was in front of the R33 was a sil80. And I'm pretty sure the R33 was a GTST which would make sense as to why it's drifting so easily.

5:20 Love the AE86 but I'd have to go with the 72 Hakosuka. Even as an investment and value comparison. Even though the AE86 is expensive a Hakosuka is way more pricey.
Tbh the V8 comment Sean had about her throttle response. Most likely stems from you wouldn't need turbo's if you had a V8 to make power. Turbo's kill throttle response compared to natural aspiration. And a little 1.3 rotary needs a turbo to make any sort of decent power.
The fact not one single ae86 was in the garage scene yet they had keiichi tsuchiya and mention of a 86 Corolla (e80 series) upsets me considering the car was a legend that inspired most 90s/00s car culture in Japan. Well I think you have my answer which one I would of picked ,😂
A V8 N/A has good response, good torque.. the FD rx7 is turbo so it needs to get on boost, once on boost it's fast.. the rx8 just a 1.3 liter motor.. so it has very little torque down low.. so the statement does fit and they are good drivers cars because they are balanced and light and the high revving makes it a better experience.... Also if you check the behind the scenes videos on the filming, Dk's car has a twin turbo kit and the way they designed the kit, made it sound like that. You can hear the real audio on the behind the scenes.

That's why the accent just comes out. - The Evo 8 started as a demo car by APR but then as the show requested for it, they built another one, same spec but with the front diff delete or locked (I can't remember which). - The drift mountain car in sequence: S15 Silvia, Falken Tire's actual drift racing RX-7, RPS13 with an S15 front conversion kit, that seems to be an R33 and Neela's RX-8. - Morimoto's Z33 was done by Top Secret I believe. Fun fact: The show was actually co-produced by the legendary drift king himself, "Dori-dori" Keichii Tsuchiya and he's the bloke fishing by the pier, commentating on how rubbish Sean was doing. He too had a hand in drifting in alot of the scenes including the scenes where Sean consistently failing to drift on the mountains which, Tsuchiya himself had stated to have said that "it's easy for me to drift properly but very hard for me to purposely fail". In fact the stunt crews were all soo terrible at drifting that they had to be given a crash course by multiple drift coordinators employed on set which include Vaughn Gittin Jr., Tanner Foust, Rhys Millen, Sam Hubinette, Calvin Wan and a few other drifters. @@ileutur6863 that was the point of Veilside, to make the exterior of the cars to look exotic while having the cars themselves modified to high hp and torque amounts to match that.
Basically the cars are all show, all go, as opposed to being one or the other
@@ileutur6863 Idk personally I love the VeilSide kit for the Rx7
0:25, personally, I still prefer the Blackbird GTR over the Signal Auto GTR because the C-West bodykit just seems to fit the car better in my opinion.
Throttle response in a rx8 would be fly by wire throttle body. So it would just be a matter of tuning it's action to come on a little sooner. It's basically what a pedal controller does these days...it intercepts the throttle signal and alters it. Back then though it would need an ecu tune through the obd2 port.
Telling Sean about her past later on, I believe she does says that she and her mom moved from Australia when she was 10.
The RX8 would look much better a bit lower with better wheels 👍
her rx8 is hideous 🤢
86 Corolla. I'd love a HachiRoku.
The 350z featured at 8:23 is owned by a character named “Tea Hair”. I don’t remember Tea Hair ever showing up in the movie but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was just one of DK’s henchmen that is featured in some of the scenes in the back room/ Hans garage.
Tea Hair and someone else was chasing Han through the halls in the garage during the chase scene. They didn't make it back to their cars afterwards but showed up again downhill at the finish line during the last race with the 350z still.
4:35 if you’re talking about how high he’s reving it, from what I’ve heard you have to rev an rx7 at higher rpms when shifting
I thought the yellow car was a Saleen S7
The gtt question just get the 6 speed swap for the gtr. A few different parts but it pretty common and can run in rear wheel drive no worries. Gtt is only rear wheel drive but it does have 4wheel steer.
Use to own one back when I was 22. Had a diff locker and about 350hp was a lot of fun. I had the 5 speed though which to be honest isn't that bad 3rd gear is very long.
The 6 speed swap from the gtr they can run it in rear wheel drive only. People do the entire 4wd driveline conversions too but not as popular these days due to cost.
morimoto has a 350z with top secret body kit
Aha! I had a feeling someone would know
4:45 i think it’s just downshifting but if you know you’re about to come to a stop you could just throw it in neutral lol
350z has a header on each side then catalytic converters then then join at a Y-pipe which has 2 resonators at the top of the Y, then one straight pipe to the muffler
The mona Lisa (and in turn the mustang) despite being shown as an RB26DETT, the sound is from an RB25DET.
The actual stunt mustang had a 351W V8.
@@CamaroAmx true but the hero mustang actually had an rb26dett
Point 1, no civilized person downshifts without rev matching.
Point 2, rotary's love to be revved high so redlining the rx7 isn't an issue.
Point 3, the skyline didn't just merge, it downshifted and floored it, thus it was showing off.
Point 4, the Tokyo expressway is no normal highway. If I had an rx7 and an R34 did that to me on the Tokyo expressway I would punch the throttle so hard that the car would enter another dimension.
This comment made me smile, fair enough lol
That was the plan 😂
I remember watching this movie when I was a kid and now I'm 21 I own a Evo
The actress of Neela (Nathalie Kelley) was born in Peru and moved to Australia at the age of 3.
No awd 350z transmission. Cheap way out for you would be a R32-R33 5 speed awd transmission. Cheapest version would be found in a Stagea RS4S.
I want 6 gears though aaaagh
Must pay to get the R34 Getrag then. That's the only 6 speed manual in existence that has 2 output ports, with the forward facing output on the right hand side (driver's side of a jdm car) of the vehicle. I have looked extensively into this. Awd Subaru trans, bmw trans and Mercedes trans are all not oriented the right way.
“your the step brother has a v6” …dang
Also, A 72 Skyline is worth way more than a 86 Corolla
Hands down AE86 corolla:D
meh, AW11 MR2
Both great cars, but you’d be crazy to choose an 80s Toyota over a classic 70s skyline…
@@constructionbootgazer you have some fucking nerve calling me crazy over what car to choose and give ZERO reasons as to why
Tell you what, fuck your Hakosuka, Kenmeri and other sacred skylines
Peugeot 505 GTI
@@constructionbootgazer call me crazy then, because if I'm getting a 70's Datsun, it's gonna be a Fairlady.
Way rather have the Hachi Roku
@@constructionbootgazer well I can totally agree, I am a crazy person, but if this explains to you something: I've watched through Initial D at least 3 times, and I have a corolla as well.
7:17 and onward: i just realized that's daikoku PA where the RX8's were parked.
and in the night tandem, that FD was a formula d car driven by tony angelo at the time and that orange S13(180SX) was one of 2 signal auto demo cars. signal auto had a US branch in socal at the time so it would make sense for one of their cars to be in that kind of scene
That bike has none of that
I'm willing to bet that the 86 Corolla is basically a nod to initial d to that bad ass 86 with high rev racing engine
And yes Dustin Williams does have that exact EVO from the movie and yes it was an APR demo car they put all of their parts on! No awd in a 350Z dude!
Him: "no civilized person does that"
Me: ......."crickets"........
Heh 😂 I didn’t say I was civilised either
if I remember correctly its a throttle by wire so changing the map of the throttle specifically could help
"no civilized person does that" lol @ me everyday, terrorizing my neighborhood in my GT350
JUN Auto made a 350Z with AWD back in the day. I think they used the drivetrain from a R34.
Correct I saw the car at Tokyo Auto Salon in 2007. I have footage I can upload also.
72 skyline if it's a kpgc10 it'd be worth about 20x as much as an ae86... But recently maybe it's 10x or so. Still shitty betting odds for Han, which is brilliant writing, if the implied odds are intended - dk isn't into a wager unless the odds are in his favor. Han still plays along as he still wants his "50% of something" and play stupid games and be a good sport. If he can afford his monalisa he can easily build an AE86 himself.
That is a S13 180 on the touge w a s15 face. It's quite a famous car, at least back in the day. A Signal Auto drift s13.5, I think the driver's name is Kamoto (Drifter X) something like that.
The yellow car you wanted to know about is a Honda NSX with a Veilside bodykit when i was a kid i didnt know what it was either
It's amazing to learn about different cars in this one like that skyline. Good content
Lol in a car with an electronic throttle pedal, the signal can be turned up with a pedalcommander. Thats excluding factors like turbo lag etc
5:20 Love the AE86 but I'd have to go with the 72 Hakosuka. Even as an investment and value comparison. Even though the AE86 is expensive a Hakosuka is way more pricey.
“Your step brother has a V6, F*ck off”
Whatre you doing step bro?!
The third body kit is a top secret kit but its owned by Tea Hairs.
Tbh the V8 comment Sean had about her throttle response. Most likely stems from you wouldn't need turbo's if you had a V8 to make power. Turbo's kill throttle response compared to natural aspiration. And a little 1.3 rotary needs a turbo to make any sort of decent power.
Dk's 350z has a veilside kit, miromotos and the other have top secret kits
unequal length headers is ur answer. u can get uel headers for a civic to make it sound like a subaru
If you watch in Windows Media Player, right click, play speed should be an option to play it back in slow-mo
The yellow car with those tail lights is a Veil Side NSX
On an rx8 you would change the throttle response to change the throttle response (drive by wire). That's it.
0:43 that was a NSX Veilside Edition.
I think it’s Ferrari f50
i thought it was a Saleen S7 when i was younger
But now a days i feel like it's definitely a NSX with the Veilside kit. The lines just match that too well.
"Yeah so we need you wear the smallest clothes you own"
When the Atari Teenage Riot hits
- The yellow car's an NSX with a HEDIOUS bodykit from Veilside. It's supposed to pay homage of the NSX heritage of slaying Ferraris when it was launched... By being one. Yea just Veilside oddballness.
- And yes, that whole RX-8 was done by Veilside which, of course, comes with the wing.
- You can change throttle response with alot of things. Pedal size, throttle body alignment, ECU remap are a few ways to change the feel of the pedal.
- And again, YES! The actress playing as Neela, Nathalie Kelley, IS Aussie.
That scene on the mountains? That was done by every one of the actual drifters mentioned that did it on shot.
I thought the yellow car was a Saleen S7
The yellow car is an NSX with the Veilside body kit
I did the research about the 350z so it has an hks dual exit exaust system, hks intake, flow kinetix manifold and nismo headers
The 350z definitely sounds like a VQ just not a regular vq
You should make a video on how to make your car sound like the mona lisa s15 in real life
if i have to guess, the car at 0:45 you wanna know about, looks like a yellow Lotus Elise, the same Lotus we have in NfS Most Wanted
that rx8 is hideous
