They don't believe we can handle it. It's not aliens not monsters not demons what it is is a force that can create these things to boggle us. Maybe the Cosmic Brain likes how our brains work to solve these things. The manifestations are home grown or maybe from a dimension next door not that it really matters the effects are the same on us. The "triangles" are just a convenient shape regardless of the lozenge shape of the over all phenomena from disappearances to ghosts and monstrous cryptids.
