The Splendor in Myriads exhibition (in Chengdu Museum at Tianfu Square) showed many luxurious items made in the last century. As I understood, it was all brought to Chengdu from one of the Museums in Hong Kong. Many jewelry were made by Cartier. However, a good half was crafted in the Eastern way. Hence, the narrative of "East meets West". And I wasn't very interested at first until I realised how well-made these things actually were. There was something about the fact that they were all functional, kind of daily items, just inappropriately perfect ones. But not a single sign of who they belonged to and why they no longer do. I'd pay to hear those stories if I could...
