I'm a day behind.. damn sinus infection. So far this is my favorite.Balcones. Love the taste. Enjoy the smell/nose. Also really enjoy the after taste.. not heavy or lingering too long. I can see myself drinking this weekly... who am I kidding, daily.
Loving this avant calendar. Another reason why Christmas is my favorite time of year.

absolutely love the nose, and the taste is creamy with honey flavor, for me a MUST BUY
Maple/ vanilla nose. Cookie dough center. Some citrus too. Lost the rest in what was on my palette a spicy, harsh finish. Not my favorite, but like a teacher that wasn't your favorite you still have to respect it! 5/10.
On the list sip I think I detected the apricot.

Im agreeing with the other comments here. This one is nice but the others have been quite a bit better. 6-6.5. It does have a touch in the nose that's off-putting that I have to get around and that is still there in the finish and makes it hard to appreciate the good things going on with the peach and apricot. I like it enough that I would drink more, but this would not be a goto for me.

Filet bay is my favorite so far. Love the honey and orange peel taste with vanilla notes.

Lovely notes of vanilla and light sugars (rock candy, sugar cane). Our favorite so far.

Your Filey Bay sample was significantly darker in color than mine!!!
Hi thank you for sharing your concern. This could happen due to filming and post production where we manipulate and color grade the footage.

The first 5 days matched perfectly... what was different this time.
Gonna have to catch up! Had two 2 check rides for flying, and chose to forego the 4th and 5th. Back in the saddle again, and liking the Finley Bay. Not loving it, but liking. Nice citrus scent early on, and pleasant mild taste. Loving the journey with you guys though!
While it is unfortunate to hear you've been behind, there's something good in it as well. You can enjoy more than one in a day.

Still having issues with the Flaviar Black membership. Anyone else still having issues? No response to email. Tried a new link but it didn’t work. Frustrating
They have been good at replying to my emails, but they have not get me to Flaviar Black yet, hopefully that is next .... surprised they have not replied to you. It seems they were not really set up to do this at the start of December, which is a bit concerning.
I emailed their support but received a snarky reply back and they weren't too helpful. Still no membership and waiting for them to respond back. They need to get their act together on this, pronto.
Day 6 Green Balcones Lineage. Started off really fruity, heavy sugary flavors with plum overtones, and quickly transition to a kind of a honey woody profile. Then, it evaporated quickly on the tongue with a medicinal finish. 8/10

The Finley Bay starts with citrus that transitions to an alcohol heat likely brought on by the bourbon barrel. A medicinal twang is still present on the finish which some distillers consider a desirable characteristic in scotch. I would wonder if the Flagship line might be improved by time in a second barrel. Perhaps, time in a white port cask would draw down the boozy notes and boost the finish with more tannin.

Day6-Black-Filey Bay. Very bright fruitiness and honey on both the nose and initial taste. Vanilla comes through the further into the drink you go. Has a little bit of a bite, but very pleasant. Aftertaste is creamy with a bit of zest. I think we are 6 out of 6 so far in terms of enjoyment, there's not a single one I've had so far that I would not be happy to experience again. However, similar to day three, I think this one is a little overpriced at $75 per bottle. Would be happy around the $60 price point for this one. Overall, giving a 6.5 and continue to be please with how different yet enjoyable each day has been

The nose was lacking for me. I had this right after #5, so the contrast between single malt and bourbon was profound. Lemon oil and a bit of honey on the nose, smells like a Scotch that needs more barrel aging - I can taste wood but not a secondary spirit. “Creamy” is about all it did for my palate, a touch of sweetness after the citrus faded quickly, but there is a small touch of sulfur at the end that is reminiscent of the scotch style.
Interesting strategy to go straight from one sample to the other. We like it!

Typical nose for single malt, but not very strong. Consistent with the light color. My nose also caught a bit of caramel and even a tiny bit of peat! Taste was also not very strong, but not at all unpleasant. The malty caramel gives way to some lighter flavors, maybe vanilla, as it lingers. Like, but not love. 6

I like it; however, it tastes more like a fortified wine rather than a whisky. 🥂

This one only gets 6/10 for me. Not as smooth and the taste was a little medicinal. Not sure if it has been aged long enough.

Filey Bay. Nose is light but there are interesting notes of pineapple, Meyer lemon and ripe pears. The palate has some pear, citrus and bitter notes but they are not well balanced together. Finish is very light and fades quickly. This is a very nippy whisky and as it is only aged 3-4 years it could certainly do with more time in the cask. Not bad but I certainly wouldn't purchase a bottle. 6/10.

N: vanilla. Apricot. Hints of grass
P: malty
F: honey. Transitions to cocoa nibs
Very bland single malt. Not much flavor. Not bad, just not memorable.

Filet Bay is so far my least favorite. There's a scotch taste that I'm not a fan of. 5.5/10.

Awful, undrinkable. Tasted like mildew, rubbing alcohol and shoe polish. Black box, Filey Bay is one I won't be buying
