Deep sound! Thank you for uploading! I think the biggest reason of this sound comes from the material of its resin platter. Resin platters have extremely low electromagnetic induction compared to metal platters (Aluminium or Steel) to the cartridge, and moderate and slight mechanical resonance. Most hi-fi audio maker technicians don't and cannot understand the above, except for the Rega engineers and the old engineers of Audio-Technica JP who designed the cheapest models.
I have a p1 and very modest full Rega system and for all the stick that carbon cartridge gets I think it sounds very very respectable for what it is. And that's the key here' for what it is'

I am also thinking 1 or 1+, I have phono input on the denon amp, but may be better to have flexibility for later and preamp (which is decent quality it seems, but cannot be bypassed)
I’ve just upgraded a friend RP1 with Rega exact and platter Rega 3 and didn’t need to adjust the anti-skate magnet , there is too much fun one can have with this turntable
I know for a fact that you need to change pickup. Buy a Ortofon 2m Blue. The record will sound much better. How do i know..? I just did the change but on a Planar 2. Great record anyway.
I would rather guy for the Gold Note ES 78 or higher the line or a Nagaoaka M 110 or even better a 150. But a Sumiko, Hana or Goldring will sound more homogenous. With an Ortofon Red or Blue you will be getting pseudo dynamics and clarity. It is a boosting pickup without naturalness but ir has good tracking though. Or rake a AT 95 VM ML.
@@williamduarte-stereo Han is right: titles of some of your videos are misleading because "vs" means "versus" and it is often used for comparisons. I was expecting that you compared something to something, not only showing one cartridge playing.
Not only was that undynamic, It kept fluctuating in speed. Horrible. The P1 hasnt changed since I sold them back in 2015. Sad, I had been selling Rega since the early 80's. Retired now, but that was an eye opener.

Great recording. I was amazed how good the P1 is completely stock. Even better with cork mat, glass platter and moving coil like MC-1 Turbo.

The RP1 with performance pack and bias2 is better, Although the planar1 arm is better. It's strange that Rega didn't also put bias 2 to Planar1

It sounded dynamic to me. I didn't notice it fluctuating in speed.

@@grantross2609 there are apps for your phone. You place the phone on the platter and it measures fluctuation and wow.
I have the rp3 its a solid sounding machine & can imagine the rp1 would be similar in class.
