As someone who loved Dire Straits and saw them in Brighton in approximately 1983. My busy life meant I'd never heard much of his solo stuff, everyone backed by fine musicians. Lockdown and youtube changed all that and I'm loving catching up with this outstanding musician and songwriter.

I don't care what other people say -- there is NOTHING like the sound of a vinyl LP, cared for with lots of TLC. There is an ambiance with vinyl that a CD just cannot capture (and I do like CD's), and which is completely destroyed by compressed digital audio. Thank you for sharing! 😊

One of my favourite Dire Straits tracks. So haunting and atmospheric. Despite the RUclips compression, your Thorens/SME/AT440MLB combination sounds terrific. Pity about the miss track about a 1 min 33 secs in.
This song was originally recorded in digital, like the whole album. But after the transfer to vinyl, re-digitizing that vinyl and then RUclips's digital compression it still sounds amazing. It proves once again it's the master that counts and how you handle it.
Dire Straits playing on a good turntable and off a good cartridge is just amazing, this is an excellent example. The detail that the 440mlb puts out is incredible, especially in the guitar and the vocals. Btw I can see your reflection off the platter walking around lol!

People hate the crackle of vinyl but for me it is a familiar, comforting sound. Not the eerie, sterile silence of CD. And of course the instrument and vocal separation of vinyl is great.

This is the first song I played with the original cd when I ended my car audio build, was a personal satisfaction, and still gets me goosebumps.
