    Love it chaps. It’s karma. Nobody is responsible for our situation in life but ourselves. When we externalise responsibility for that, we also give away our power to change it. Only our own self effort can change that and when we do, grace comes along too to help us. 🙏🙏🙏

    Hi Ryan
    I am really enjoying the podcasts.
    I started my lawn journey over 30 years ago so have seen the benefits of lean in many environments .
    I have recently started a lean project in a warehouse.
    I am 8 weeks into this new adventure and enjoying every minute.
    Just like to run something past you. Total Ownership fully understand the concept, however would like to address the owners absence from the gemba.
    As we are all focused on eliminating waste I think it maybe better to have deputy fully trained to carry out the tasks of ownership. This would be a totally seamless switch of ownership and the process reversed on the main owners return.
    The members would be informed of the deputy standing in at the morning meeting and also by reading a One Point Lesson. This displays the any changes that will have an impact on the team members.
    One Point Lesson
    Before Improvment Total Ownership member Richard of Health & Safety will be on holiday until 29/8/24
    After Improvment. Total ownership is now appointed to Martin until his return to the gemba
    I use this tool to also display any updates to S.O.Ps
    I will try the proposed system and let you know what the results
    Keep up the good work
    Kind Regards to you and your team
    Richard

    So true Ryan , ownership and responsibility is critical, I love the card concept, back in my fabrication days ( 30 years ago)this was the mentality of the operatives, they cleaned, oiled the machines. They owned it

    It’s also a stretching experience for the owner/manager to give total ownership over into an coworker’s hands, conveying trust and a sense of purpose for being there every morning.

    I believe in ultra-extreme ownership. That is much more extreme and means we are responsible for ALL which happens. Not only money, and relations but also health, genetics, family.

    One thing is still unclear… What if you have more things to take ownership of than you have employees? How do you delegate this responsibility for a small team to have ownership over a large warehouse or factory? Does each employee take ownership of ten things? When are they expected to check on and improve these areas when they have routine work to do?

    • @leanmadesimple
      @leanmadesimple  7 месяцев назад

      Yes, lots of people have a few Total Ownership Areas, some of our team have created weekly and bi-weekly schedules to help manage during allocated Improvement Time

    That’s great but how do the employees get paid for their responsibilities? They have their regular jobs but then they have their ownership duties on top of that. Are they allotted time to take care of the ownership?

    • @leanmadesimple
      @leanmadesimple  7 месяцев назад

      Yes, Total Ownership Areas are looked after during allocated daily Improvement Time

    "Dual ownership is no ownership" That's why government doesn't work and will always be inefficient.

    • @fzx_37
      @fzx_37 7 месяцев назад

      Inefficient, yes, but government by a committee is intentional because tyranny is the other option.
