What an incredible man. Despite what happened and despite the fact that he could have easily won the gold, he kept running and still got an olympic medal. God bless him. :)
Don't want to stand for the prick at all, but this notion is getting very popular lately. Whoever was watching the race knows he wouldn't have won. He was more than 5 seconds slower per km than the guys following, who were 26 seconds behind. He was also clearly running out of steam and getting slower. They would have just overtaken him a couple of hundred meters later. Still, He deserves respect for getting an olympic medal after what the moron did to him.
Exactly. Hadn' t the incident occured he would have been caught at the 40 km (instead of the 38,5 km) by both Baldini and Keflizighi. As strange as it seems the only one who benefited from the incident was Vanderlei de Lima. He took the bronze medal he deserved, he received the rarely awarded Pierre de Coupertin medal, he lighted the olympic cauldron in Rio, and he is remembered for this race much more than the actual winner.@@efstathioszavvos4878
