- A brilliant afternoons session spent at Stratford International on High Speed One where we see plenty of services from Southeastern Highspeed and Eurostar.
The station was built in 2006 but for the first 3 years remained closed to the public, it only officially opened in 2009 when Southeastern started using the station for their services operating on High Speed One.
Even though the station is named Stratford International there have been no International trains serving the station, the original plan was for regional Eurostar's to call there for when they travelled further into Britain, but that never happened. At present Eurostar have no plans to call at the station as they see no need as they are 7 minutes outside of St Pancras International, where was hope that other international operators were going to use the station. In 2010 it was hoped that DB would be running trains from Germany into London but these plans were unfortunately abandoned. Time will tell as to whether or not international trains will ever call at this station.
My next station is Mill Hill Broadway on the Midland Mainline.

Nice to catch 373s in action at Stratford International and I do like them they sound amazing when they go pass 👍😃😃
I always go onto HS1 with the aim of catching atleast one 373
Brilliant video, those 373s were amazing, especially that one from temple mills. Was amazing meeting you there too!
Thanks very much bud, was great meeting up with you too! Hope you had a safe journey back home
I could listen to 373's all day, every day! Good to see them back on HS1 again even if there are no white sets around any more! 373999 is the Eurostar spare power car.
They are some of the best sounding units currently running for sure!
A very good Sunday evening buddy from Alan in Lowestoft keep up the good work buddy
Thank you kindly Alan
Superb video. Glad you got to see some 373's in action. 😀
Thanks very much!
Another great video and do love the livery on the Eurostars
I really love these vlogs so interesting and your commentary is the best keep up
The great work you are doing
Thanks very much, that's greatly appreciated
In my opinion, the class 373 is the best unit on Eurostar. Excellent catches. 🤗♥️
amazing video jarred
Thanks very much!
What an enigma "Stratford International" is! I remember getting embroiled in a massive argument in Manchester with "Two Jags", Ove Arup (now Arup) Representatives (Company based in Stratford at the time) and other notable Government Representatives about what a "White Elephant" Stratford HS1 would become. This meeting was called when the route to the "Chunnel" was being agreed and I accused Arup of "self interest". Since then, Stratford has become the focal point of so many things and Arup have made £billions out of schemes such as SI station itself, the Shopping Centre, the Olympic Games, Crossrail and plenty of other things in the area. They are, of course, involved with HS2. Yes, it's nice to hear the 373s, but it would be nicer to see them call at an "International" station too!
Stratford International has always been one those strange stations in that it has never once seen an international service call there and quite possibly never will!
Nice to see you back on the HS1 line it has been a very long while since you last came to the HS1 line
It's a line I would like to do more of, unfortunately it gets boring quite quickly because of the lack of variety in rolling stock currently using the line
Always nice to see a 373!
Especially when they are going at a good speed!
Hi Tornado922. Great film at Stratford International. Extra information for you: at 9:13, it was 395016 on the rear of the Ramsgate train. Looking forward to the next film at Mill Hill Broadway. Kind regards, Chris.
Thanks very much for the info Chris
No problem, mate.
That’s a good catch, 373999 is the spare power car.
I was quite surprised to see it!
Amazing Class 373 sounds
They have such an iconic sound when travelling at high speed
@@Tornado922 Indeed
Even at a mere 230km/h (the max speed in that section) those Eurostars look impressively fast, I know they can hit 300km/h a bit further south even before crossing the channel
I've been on a 373 when the 373s was used by GNER as there white rose series from Leeds to London King's Cross
I wished I had been on those services when they were in use
Great railway video mate
Thank you kindly
Great video at Stratford international
Thanks very much!
Cracking!
Thank you kindly
How times have changed considering a large portion of the 373’s are now faded away (whether scrapped or working abroad or even stored for that matter) but yknow there legacy won’t be forgotten anyway from Special liveries to record breaking run of 208mph.
They are amazing trains and it is good to see some of them still running around at full tilt
I'm going there next saturday
Another great vlog but its a shame about that wind
I wasn't expecting the wind to be that bad when I was there!
@@Tornado922 Just 1 of them things
@Tornado922 did you spotted an Eurostar service from Amsterdam Centraal to London St Pancras International?
No I didn't, all the services I filmed were either going to Paris or Brussels or coming from Paris or Brussels
That 373 going past at 10:00 sounds great 😃
They are one of the best sounding trains when travelling at high speed
Nice vid as normal buddy😊
Thanks very much
Come and stand on the footbridge over the railway line just outside Ashford Intl and watch the various trains that use HS1 as well as local services
I didn't know there was a footbridge outside the station, I'll be sure to give that a look when I'm next there
@@Tornado922 Walk along Elwick Road, the footbridge is between the Picturehouse Travelodge
The last 373 had a James Bond theme. 007
Very good
@@Tornado922. Actually, it is fantastic.
Seems a rather windy station😂 this a station I always wanted to go to
The southern end was ludicrously windy!
Never been to Stratford International, is it easy to get onto the platforms
Yeah all you need is a ticket to get through the barriers and then it's easy to get down to the platforms
@@Tornado922 thanks

why the Hell is Stratford International does not have any international trains stopping here although it's named as
*"International?"*
Did you have a ticket to get on the platforms or just ask the barrier staff?
Love the videos 🔥
I had a ticket that I could use that would allow me to get through the barriers
Can't hear what you are waffling about for the wind noise. It's playing havoc with my speakers, never mind my ears!
Unfortunately I wasn't expecting the wind to that be that bad at that end of the station!
HS1 almost makes you fall over
Especially with that wind!
'Oooooo, stop. I'm having a crisis with the class 373's.' It makes us wonder why an earth they were scrapped? Such epic units even at speed. Once featured on Top Gear against an Aston Martin to Monte Carlo and also had a short life with GNER between:
London Kings Cross to York/Leeds
Mega footage you got there Tornado922 :-)
They are units that could have very easily fitted anywhere on the network, especially as GNER ran several North of London Sets on the ECML
Yo what up Tornado
Very well thanks, yourself?
@@Tornado922 I'm good thank you
3:30 nice but slow
Oooo Stratford International havnt been there in axwhile
It's a good station to go to, although I wouldn't say you would need so spend too much time there in order to catch everything
DO CARLISLE!
I keep on telling you that Carlisle will be seen to at some stage this year, i'm getting rather tired of repeating myself to you in regards this matter

It will be a sad day when the 373's retire for good, will miss that iconic noise of them speeding by.
Fortunately they will be with us for a little while yet!

That must have been the most boring day ever... It s the most boring youtube video ive seen... just 2 types of train... I would rather have stayed home and watched paint dry
