Thanks Bob. As a Canadian from Saskatchewan who used to drive semi trucks over the road, projects like this are very interesting to me. Great footage and narration 👍
Hi Bob. Thank you for the kind words. I enjoy seeing the changes, and sharing them with everybody. It is a big deal for the area and it will be nice to have it recorded for the future. I appreciate your comment and support. 🎄🎁👍
Thanks can't wait to actually see this bridge in person I gave the money for this and book tower and still haven't been to see it and ari was doing wicked so its supposed to be after and she took off to spend some time with her Nonna so hopefully I will get to see her too soon
I drove by this bridge a couple of weeks ago,it looks like there's so much work to do, hopefully it will be open by September 2025 but I'm a little bit skeptical 🤔
Hi Dedato. Hard to say, but they are moving toward the finish at a decent pace. A mild winter would help I think. I'd like that personally. Snow, snow go away . . . and don't come back . . . except for on Christmas Day . . . then go away . . . please. Lol. 🎄🎁😎👍
Hey Bob,for many years citizens on both sides would hesitate going to events or shopping and I believe our border will be the fastest in NA …. economic boom in trade…Windsor and Detroit are so underrated
Hi Guy. I certainly agree with everything you say. Detroit is coming back strong and Windsor's time for economical growth is on the horizon and growing clearer every day. 🎄🎁😎👍
This is certainly a huge project, just the planning and engineering to try and think of everything to add to the bridge. I wonder what the toll charges will be to cross as they try to recoup some of the budget it took to build.
Hi Jon. Yeah, quite the logistic feat. We'll have to wait for the confirmed toll rates, but whatever they are Canada will keep it all until; the cost of the bridge is recouped. Decades maybe. 🎄🎁😎👍
There seems to be one thing that is missing in this project, especially considering how far along the actual bridge is at this point. That missing thing would be the barrier that separates the north and southbound traffic lanes from each other. Perhaps they can't install that until after they complete the expansion joints? I can't imagine that there will be no barrier, unless of course the speed limit is set very low, like 35 miles an hour.... Here where I live in the US there is an old bridge that can run opposite directions of traffic on one span (the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Maryland). The lack of traffic separation on that bridge adds to its reputation as scary and dangerous. Hard to figure a modern bridge like the GH would be lacking such an important safety feature.... even if the speed limit is set low, not everyone will heed it.
Hi Leeriffee. Good question, so I did a quick search and this is what came back. The bridge will have multiple safety features, including: Concrete barriers between traffic directions A dedicated 3.6-meter wide multi-use path for pedestrians and cyclists Separate from vehicle traffic by concrete barrier Sounds like they are going to install a barrier. They are likely waiting until they don't need access to both sides of the bridge to complete construction. Great post! Thanks for the question. 🎄🎁😎👍
Hi Marty. Our temp hasn't been too bad actually. A little below freezing. Essex County misses a lot of the bad weather because of our location on the Great Lakes. Wind chill is not really any different than the actual temperature, it just feels colder. Good question. Thanks for asking.🎄🎁👍
It is NOT fully connected as you state. They cannot do that until final paving and mass items have been installed, to allow final adjustment of the stays, and only then, can they complete the connection at both ends.
@@bobjonesrealtor7756 And thank you for filling a void on the Canadian side, as well as a number of details associated with the planning related to the final configuration.
There will be no duty free stores on any side of the boarder at the time of opening. However the bridge authority has stated that future opportunities may arise to build duty free stores. There will be undeveloped land left for future expansion.
Yes. Canada is paying for the bridge. The USA is carrying the cost of restructuring the interstate and overpasses to connect. The bridge and plazas are on Canada. Canada will receive all tolls from the US and Canada until the cost to build the bridge is recouped. 🎄🎁😎👍
If Canada is contributing to the cost of this bridge, perhaps now is the time to order a stop payment on all future work on this bridge. Another bridge to and from the US looks like it will not be needed by Canada. US citizens, of course, will also be welcome friends in Canada.
Hi Alexander. I appreciate your point of view, other subscribers are like minded over the issue. Personally I don't think that will change anything for the good. It will leave the bridge workers unemployed, extend the construction time to complete, delay the opening and inconvenience the commercial traffic anxiously awaiting to use it to save money. There are other ways to counter Trumps tariffs effectively. The US gets oil for their refineries from Canada. We also provide electricity to the Eastern Seaboard. Lumber, and minerals the States need to build and produce. The trade between our countries is immense. Retaliatory tariffs from Canada will push gas, construction and other industries to raise prices in the States. It's no win for either country. I might be wrong, I often am, but I think it will be worked out. 🎄🎁😎👍 Thanks for sharing!! Americans and Canadians are like close cousins.
Hi Asmelov. Thanks for your comment. Your right, however Verrazano is a suspension bridge. The Gordie Howe is a cable stay bridge. The longest cable stayed bridge in North America! Good point to make. Thanks again. 🎄🎁😎👍
Different types of construction. GHB is the longest cable stayed bridge in North America. I am just qualifying my statement in the video. Thanks for the comment!
I hate to be a sour voice on a great project but putting the finishing touches on this bridge should be put on hold until Trump recinds his tarrif threat. After all Canada is paying for it and we need a way to get a message to him that Canada has some backbone. A great project but what do you think?
Hi Rod. No sour voice there. Concerned, as we all should be, but remember trade works both ways. Canada and the US are intertwined in ways it will hurt both countries. Trump is a negotiator, he set the stage. Too bad we have such an incompetent weak PM to face this. In the long run maybe we will even be better off. Let's see what happens. JMPO. They should finish it as soon as possible I think. Why put another barrier between doing trade. 🎄🎁😎👍
thanks canada for building this most needed infrastructure it most needed
Thanks. You bet! It will be a huge benefit to everyone. 🎄🎁😎👍
Hi. I lived in Windsor for 12 years. Thank you for these videos, I appreciate how my former home is progressing. Thom Green, Haltfax.

Video is well done Bob.

Hey Bob! Another great video. Your videos have been the best at keeping us informed of everything going on.

Hi Zachh. Thanks for sharing. Life has a way of getting in the way, and a way of helping things happen. Keep you eye on the prize! 🎄🎁👍👀
Thanks for the updates Bob . Can’t wait to cross this modern piece of engineering
Hi dodgetech. Thanks. I'm glad you like the updates! It's a cool project. 🎄🎁😎👍
Merry Christmas to all
MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and yours, Robert! 🎄🎁😎👍
Thanks, Bob! Another great video.
Hi, Uncle Pete! I appreciate your comment! Get your Xmas shopping done yet?:) Ho Ho Ho🎄🎁😎👍

Thanks for sharing !!
Thanks for watching! 🎄🎁😎👍
Thank you for your videos Bob. I think both sides are excited for the bridge to open later on next year.
Hi Aleisele .Thanks for the comment! It's a big deal for the area for sure. 🎄🎁👍

it will vary , depending on the actual air temp.

Hi Happyhome. I understand. I should have defined the bridge decks are fully connected. Thanks for the heads up on that. 🎄🎁👍
He's talking about the connection in the middle of the bridge, the two other gaps, one on either side are expansion joints 😊
