Absolutely brilliant in "Nope." I wondered if they partly used a real chimp he was so good.
I started practicing this in my house... My dog immediately reacted and began treating me differently. Really powerful how quickly I could drop into the graceful movement. Still awful though this master makes it look easy
Seems to be a nice, intelligent, sociable guy. He was SCARY & CRAZY in The Square. Truly an outstanding man.

Terry Notary is so incredible! I love his respect for these creatures. They are such beautiful creatures and they are either viewed as dangerous, ugly, stupid, or just not thought of as much at all. I love that Terry Notary gave this much of himself to really represent the essence of apes and how truly amazing these animals are. I think he can really see the beauty in all creatures. It just makes me so happy!

If he were acting an orangatang during the motion capture and they had the computers' map a gorilla body onto his motions instead, what percentage of people would be able to say "there is something wrong with that animation" ? I suspect it would be far from unanimous, because most humans don't pay much attention to other species, as Terry does. I suspect all simian scientists would probably pick up on the wrongness immediately and might even be able to name the species that the motions belong to, but the rest of us might not be able to figure it out.
