They have to protect the finn from getting spawn trapped since without big deal they lose basically every time

That's the only way light side can be competitive. They get destroyed in open areas so they have to stay inside.

Lightside strat involves staying together and mostly defending whereas dark side will attack together and overwhelm quickly
