Just FYI, I believe the black circular looking thing you were looking at, at 3:10 is actually the Air Accumulator. The Air Compressor is actually further behind the driver's side rear wheel behind a plastic guard. The reason I know this is because I removed mine today.
Bought my gx and ordered my lift immediately waiting on it to come in so I can do this also have wheels and tires on the way appreciate the walk through

This is the video I've been wanting to see. You show in detail what all to expect when doing a coil conversion on my GX470. Question: Is there any risk or concern with overextending the brake lines when angling the axel while installing the springs?
Great content! I’ve managed to get my OME kit installed myself using the bottle jack method as well. Def a lil sketchy but it worked. Any way to enter the contest without a Facebook?
Hey there, great video. do you know where I could find the procedure to remove the air compressor? looking for bold positions and the correct sequence.
Just a question? I need to set my hand brake, I know you can do it trough small holes on the brake disc, just was wondering should I first pull the hand brake in position 3-4 and then set or should I do it with released hand brake?
I usually set them in the released position. You can turn the star wheel in the drum to tighten. Sometimes the actual cable needs tightened which you’d do under the cup holder/console area
Ride is very comparable to me, you do lose the adjustable features obviously, but I like them. Still smooth. As long as you disable the system all the lights go off the dash
If you don't want to go with a lift, can you recommend a quality rear spring for this conversion? Getting ready to do my wife's GX and having trouble finding a good one. Preferably USA made. I have a 4runner and lifted it and she hates the rear springs in it. Too heavy duty. (I think they were labeled wrong). Just worried it is going to be too stiff of a ride. Thanks for any help.
So you’re wanting to do rear springs but maintain stock height? Should be able to find a set of springs from a 4Runner. You’ll still need the conversion kit but those stock springs should be perfect
could the air compressor be left in its original place and converted into a compressor to air up tires (long air hose stored inside and connect to compressor when needed) ? thanks for any opinion on this.
I’m a dealer for Dobinson’s I can direct ship the kits and cut the cost of shipping off. Here is a link to the conversion kit itself, the springs will depend on the height you want to go if not keeping stock height www.dobinsonsdirect.com/products/dobinsons-rear-airbag-to-coil-conversion-kit-for-prado-120-and-150-lexus-gx470-and-gx460?rq=mk_lexus~md_gx470~yr_2002-2009
Air ride went out of my 97 Lincoln Town Car so I cut a couch pillow in half and duct taped two round balls Jack it up and stuck in between the frame in the swing arm to the rear end she was a lowrider and I drove it around that way for a long time and you should have seen the chicks and the people come up to me when I would park on the side of the road to use my phone down and Arkansas wear my cowboy hat I couldn't believe it they thought I was a pimp because my car was such a lowrider with those with the air ride suspension out my dual exhaust was just about rubbing on the ground and I drove it that way for about a year but then I stuck a sport a coil spring replacement kit in there and all it was was the springs and that's all it was easy to change out
Today, after driving in a lot of rain and big pools of water in nashville last night, I noticed a hard bounce in my GX and thought it was a flat tire. There are no lights on the dash but the rear end is definitely sagging lower. 🤦🏽♂️😞 This couldnt happen at a worse $ time as im about to move. Is there any temp fix until I can convert to coil? If I stay off the highway and drive slower does it matter or is this still dangerous? Thanks in advance
No sir, you’d have to install the spring upside down for that to work. Now the small puck is actually recommended to be installed with the not on the bottom side instead of the top the way I showed, but it’s extremely aggravating to get it to ever start that way. The lower puck won’t take a ton of shear force so either way will work.
Wow, great idea for the give-away! Love the Wheel/tire preview, as well. They look awesome.
Thank you!
Thanks for the video! About to be a GX owner and this is very helpful!

I did call the accumulator/reservoir the compressor and the actual compressor the reservoir... 😬

No the brake lines come in at the center of the axle. They split off and they’re giving you all the flex that you need
Nicely done sir.
Thank you!
Put the spring on before the isolator on the bottom. Then slide the isolater in between the spring and tighten.
That works too 👍🏼

I’m looking to do the coil conversion with a mild lift (1.5 “) what configurations do I need for front and back suspension to make it level?
typically you'll need about 2.5" to level that. If you go any higher you're likely to need new upper control arms to accommodate the alignment
Will taking all this air suspension off trigger any lights or error codes on the dash? How does the ride compare after job is done? Great vid, thanks.
Ride is very comparable to me, you do lose the adjustable features obviously, but I like them. Still smooth. As long as you disable the system all the lights go off the dash
