    As a self and assisted-independent book publisher, I loved listening to your interview with Pia, particularly about the why she self published. Pia is so right about marketing for herself anyway and wanting to keep control of her own book for how she envisioned it. Authors know their vision best :) This was inspiring to continue supporting and encouraging our awesome self and indie authors. Thanks for sharing!

    A word of warning - since this interview Kindle has updated its rules regarding giving out free copies of books in exchange for a review:
    _You may provide free or discounted copies of your books to readers, as long as you do not require a review in exchange or attempt to influence the review. Offering anything other than a free or discounted copy of the book-including gift cards-will invalidate a review, and the Amazon Community team will remove it._

    This interview is remarkable because Pia Silva is a positive, savvy, bright original thinker with refreshing insight in to the unchartered waters of marketing ones first book: From self-publishing vs. angent-publishing houses to cover design, and using social media and working with Natasa´s Book Editors and on to marketing with pod-casts, Book-Bub, and audibles - there is no better way to spend 35 minutes. Paul Dolan, Economic Forum Deutschland, Germany.

      Pia Silva is all those things. She covered so many things that I'd forgotten to mention audiobooks. Thank you much for listing it out, Paul, and for your comment. It's encouraging to see that you felt your time was well spent.

    Very helpful interview, especially about getting reviews.

      Agreed, Philip! That part is the key. Most authors assume the reviews will simply appear, but at the right volume, that rarely happens. I'm so grateful to Pia for being open and talking about what it actually takes to get readers to post those reviews.

      @@NYBookEditors I had a learning experience with Goodreads. They encouraged me to hold a giveaway.saying that I should get about 40% response. I got three reviews, one that trashed the book. It's hard to hold people to their promises, I find. even people who said yes, they would respond, bailed out.

    In order to review on Amazon, don't you have to be a verified purchaser? Where did you sell this and where did they write your reviews?

    Found this interview i interesting. I just wonder how the strategy would apply to fiction. Thank you.

    • @natasalekic9611
      @natasalekic9611 4 года назад

      The method she used to get book reviews applies to fiction directly. While it may not be as easy to schedule as many podcast interviews, most of that strategy applies as well. The Bookbub approach would also work for fiction.
      The main difference is how to automate reviews, since she used a workbook as a lead magnet. A tactic that novelists can use instead is in this article: nybookeditors.com/2020/01/marketing-your-first-book-proven-strategies-for-getting-hundreds-of-reviews-and-more/

      @@natasalekic9611 Thank you, Natasa. I downloaded the email and will investigate the BookBub strategy. I am a member there. I think I will employ these techniques for Murder by Bits and Bytes, and use a free copy of the first in the trilogy, A Person of Interest, as the gift. I also noticed that she is focused on only a few social media sites. I think I have spread myself too thin and have lost control. Very helpful, Natasa. Thank you again. Ardelle Holden

      @@ardelleholden7538 Good to hear you downloaded the email. There's so much Pia does well in that copy to establish the importance of the review and to reduce the time commitment from the reviewer. I'm so happy the interview was helpful to you!

    Why do you have the book on Kindle Unlimited?

    • @natasalekic9611
      @natasalekic9611 4 года назад +1

      Hi Kaye, I asked Pia your question and she said, "Good question, I don't remember!" It may be that she's experimenting to see if it will change her sales. She didn't have the book on Kindle Unlimited when she launched.
