When your engine makes more torque at 1,800rpm than most engines do at 4,500rpm, you can cruise down the highway at almost idle. And the less rpm your engine is turning, the better your mpg will be. This is precisely why some big, powerful V8 engines can get very similar mpg to microscopic turbocharged engines. That big V8 doesn't have to work nearly as hard or turn nearly as fast as a little 4 banger, to so the same amount of work. Edit: for a 6,000+ lb truck to be getting supercar mpg, while making MORE POWER than most supercars.... that's impressive in and of itself!
Anyone else notice the color of the Nozzle. Not sure about Colorado, but here in Montana if you have a nozzle with Green plastic and not Yellow and you put that Green nozzle in your gasser you just got yourself a HUGE repair bill if not a blown engine due to putting diesel in your tank.
And not run in all wheel drive or auto four wheel drive too! Driving all four wheels takes power, which takes gas burnt to generate said power. Not all rig will let you shift out of all wheel drive though.

When I try to get good gas mileage typically I don’t floor it going up the off ramp. Better results would be gained by avoiding hard acceleration
His speed was 82. It seems to me the ratings are best when you are actually going 60-65. There is a happy # for the best MPG and I can honestly say, 75-82 MPH is not it. lol
@@WW-wf8tu 👏👏👌👌
@@WW-wf8tu and those are actually real world speeds which is far more accurate than when they do their other mpg tests at 65 in a 75 zone on the highway. Very few people are doing 10 under on the highway. At least this is realistic.
If you avoid hard acceleration with the TRX than maybe a Nissan Frontier might be the better choice.
@@michaelreed1380 Very few people are doing 10 over the speed limit as well. Most highway's I've seen had a 70 mph speed limit.

Don't trash-it-out Roman. That #1 TRX to the public may be worth lot of money someday.
Remember fuel economy in any vehicle that drives in the winter when temperatures are cold ,will go down .cold air means dense(heavier) and requires more fuel to compensate the burn. In the summer is the opposite. I’m pretty sure all the economy fuel test are done in the warmer climate and controlled wind tunnels. Drive from Chicago to Leadville for the past 6 years w/my 5.7 Ram 1500 (14 mpg/avg) and the trip out via the Nebraska route always costs me about $40 more in fuel than the return trip! Seems like there is always a strong headwind the entire length of the state. This year made the trip out with the JT LE -- Not a great increase at only 19 MPG but I did spend about $50 less this trip!
Yeah I’ve always had the same results in my 2001 Tundra. From Chicago to the mountains of
Colorado about 14 or less on the return trip 17 or so.
Roman,
I'm sure the winds in Nebraska aren't helping with the fuel mileage.
My daughter just went FCA before Christmas when she bought a Fiat 500 S. Wait till she sees the TRX. Hey 10.8 mpg is not bad Roman cos you have the Displacement, the Huge Supercharger and it doesn't really follow Colin Chapman's instruction to remove weight wherever possible.

broke in several RAM's in my life. They get really crappy fuel economy until you hit 5k in miles, then you get just bad gas mileage.
@@TheAdventureKean 🤣 ain’t that the truth!
@@jrive075 Probably not. 10 mpg going 82 mph in a 702 hp supercharged 6.2 v8 awd lifted pickup truck on 35 inch all-terrains is pretty good. I've owned a 4.7 magnum Ram, a 5.9 magnum Ram, a 5.9 Cummins Ram, a 6.7 Cummins Ram, and a 5.7 hemi Ram. The only one that got good fuel economy was the 6.7, which I would expect from a modern diesel. Chrysler v8's aren't exactly known for getting good gas mileage, neither were the old 5.9 Cummins diesel straight sixes. All of them got around 15 mpg. The 6.7 got around 25 mpg. I never experienced the thing that you described with getting better gas mileage after breaking in.

Why is your fuel nozzle green for gas and black for diesel? That is really messing with me. Haha
There is no industry standard! It actually comes down to whatever the particular station decides to use. Hopefully as time goes on, they will generally standardize that to prevent confusion.
Depends on what state your in
Here in Ohio some places use green for diesel and places like UDF use yellow. It throws me off because some places yellow is used for E85.
Because BP lol
Diesel nozzle won't fit into modern gasoline fill neck.

When you pick up the truck from the factory, do you have to pay destination fee?
🤣
Yes. I don't think you can do that unless you're a journalist like these guys.
@@tlr-nut7275 Jeep will let you pick up your Wrangler at the factory in Toledo. GM will will let you pick up your corvette at the factory in Bowling Green. I have no idea about the destination fee but factory pickups are certainly a thing the average consumer can do. Not sure if you can do it if you want to pickup a general economy car, but if you factory order what the brand considers to be their halo vehicle they like to show off the factories to the owner. It is a way of building brand loyalty.
Yep, destination fees are equal whether the car is shipped 10 miles or a thousand (or more) within the dealer network. I believe it is actually a destination/prep fee; no getting around it.

They test trucks as they come from the factory. The supercharged Tundra is not available from the factory...
@@richfarfugnuven6308 in 2015 they were but maybe a dealer ship would still have one. Idk

Price variance on the gas is due to Non Ethanol fuel on your Nebraska stop. Usually seems to make about 30 - 40 cents per gallon difference.
You obviously didn’t fill up in Chicago if that was the highest you paid for premium. 😂
Or anywhere in California!
Or New York City.
Try an mpg run at 50 mph.... there will be your 14, IMO.
And not run in all wheel drive or auto four wheel drive too! Driving all four wheels takes power, which takes gas burnt to generate said power. Not all rig will let you shift out of all wheel drive though.
@@ShadowOppsRC You can't drop into 2WD in the TRX, so the 14mpg EPA estimate should already be taking that into account.
