This collaboration that Angelina & Toby co-wrote, is a real "Banger." If this doesn't get her some promotion, recognition & a Grammy Nomination for Best New Artist, then the music industry is hopeless.
Correct, but basically the music industry is pretty hopeless, has been for a very long time....I know you know what they are assaulting our ears with Keith...MHO...have no respect for them at all. Can only hope she wins the "popularity" contest they now promote, likely not given her CLASS, Eloquence AND Talent... Angelina said in a joint interview with Toby that she got contacted for the collab by her publishing company. Toby later answered a fan questions, that he got to know her from GotTalent, and wanted to work with her. So apparently he reached out to her. BTW, he aso commented with "One of a kind! Amazing" in late 2022 on one of her TikToks , and she answered with "Living legend himself 🙏" as she recognized him. I assume that was prior to the official contact.
It's my understanding, that record labels primarily deal with song recordings, while publishing companies handle the intellectal properties of songwriting. So in regards to songwriting, she can probably do what she wants.
Angelina also sang for Toby for his project Piano Diaries, which he publishes under his own indy label. There a line in the video credit said that she appeared curtesey of Republic.
I would assume, that Bad Valentine woudl be published by Republic.

Toby Gad Grammy winner x3. Republic has been arranging for Angelina to meet Grammy winner after Grammy winner. In a musical match making process to teach her how to turn her great 100 songs in her notebooks into hots. Some worked well and have resulted in prolonged friendship like Rob Christie. They are investing in Angelina. They see her as a future hit maker and because of her youth for a very long time. I checked and listened to NOW IM THE FOOL again... this feels like the companion piece to that .... the other person side of the story.

This, was Toby's concert, not Angelinas. She sang two songs that night, 'If I Were A Boy' and 'Bad Valentine'. Toby is an exceptionally smart and intuitive businessman where it touches the music world. This night was a rough draft of his soon to be released album, "Piano Diaries" a re-imagining of his hits. Like 'All Of Me' the song John Legend turned into a hit which Toby produced as well as wrote. Also, 'Big Girls, Don't Cry' for Fergie and others including the song that really made Beyonce' a star. Toby was so taken with Angelina's talent for music way beyond singing, he immediately wants to write music with her, and this is the first of many songs to come from this pair.

Thank you for a class reaction! This performance was complete dynamite. I am yet to see any reactor that wasn't blown away, right from the opening phrase, which hits you like a freight train. By the way, I know a number of fans seem to get upset when Angelina's influence by the greats is mentioned, from the past like Billie right up to the present, like Adele. However, Angelina herself has always acknowledged their influence on her growth. She has repeatedly expressed her admiration for them, how much she looks up to them and how honoured she feels to be compared to them. Her own genius is evident in her ability to use the best of those influences to mould herself into the unique, wondrous and incomparable artist that she is, completely and unequivocably Angelina Jordan, who can never be mistaken for ANYONE else.

I really like this original song, Angelina's performance is fantastically raw and aggressive with her unique voice, raspy and deep, while she performs fantastic and beautiful tonal scales, which completely captivates you. With her I continue, even after many years of listening, to have goosebumps every time, in particular with every new wonderful vocal experiment that she creates. Angelina's musical eclecticism transcends the ordinary and she always manages to give a unique and passionate vision of her songs, whatever genre they are. The words on the screen were a little off. They go “ I thought I told you I would mess up your heart “ This was her only song as this was not her concert. She stopped by as she is working with Toby . One of the best song writers of all time . Some of his credits are the likes of John Legend, Beyoncé, Adele and many more number one hits. He said he has sought out Angelina since Bohemian Rhapsody. But as we all know her family was not letting her sign with agents or the like until she finished school. It is so good they have protected her . She did sign with a limited capacity with Republican Records at 14 . But not sure of the whole story
