You two are beyond impressive to me. I accidentally stumbled upon your wonderful channel, and I am blown away by your commitment. So, at the ripe old age of 70, I am going to try to join you on The Great Conversation. I’ll start with both The Iliad and The History of Herodotus to try to catch up. I’ve had the Great Books of the Western World sitting on my bookshelf for more years than I want to admit, but you have inspired me to get on with it! Thank you!

I encourage all of you to read for 3 hours daily for at least a year from the set and then to curate your own reading list based off interest. You will be astonished by how much self-growth and modern advice is found in even the most ancient books. I’m currently reading through this and the Harvard classics philosophy section while an undergrad. It will take 1-2 years but it will be worth it. Also, I’m almost finished with war and peace by Leo Tolstoy. A massive tome of a book that has made me somewhat of a pacifist. Also, make sure you get a desk and take notes as you read, there is no point in reading these books without writing. You do yourself a big injustice if you don’t take notes.

I bought the book The great ideas by Mortimer J Adler. I don’t know if you already have it, but it’s a must have for anyone reading these books.

Great Thanks for Your Videos, been following You for a while been wondering which Version of The great Books do You believe is the best to own? The older 54 Vol. Set or The Newer 60 Vol. Set. Given the Changes between the 2 sets and what was taken out from the older set and not included in the Newer set.
I have been trying to Follow along trying to read multiple books during the Week at least for two days at a time as well as The KJV (LDS) Bible and Triple and KJV Apochrypha and an NAB Catholic Bible in lieu of a Douay-Reims Bible which besides the KJV was the one recommended to Study with these Books!
Have also been reading How To Read A Book by Adler and Charles Van Doren also first!
