You need to raise the fuel tank, if you go up a slight incline the carb won't get any fuel. The other option is add a vacume pulse fuel pump but with a pump you'll need to change the fuel Inlet needle and seat.
Mikuni's really need an air filter to work properly. Mikuni carbs work awesome when properly tuned but you need to understand fully on how they work. I think that the vast majority of people should stick with the Tillotson carb, they are much easier to tune. When properly tuned that engine should have instantaneous throttle response with no lag at all. I used to have a mini-bike just like that when I was a young boy, I wish I still had it. When we were living in ND it was my only way of getting around, I put so many miles on it. It had an aluminum brake shoe that rubbed against the rear tire, I wore that out in no time, dad fabricated a metal sleave over it, it worked but not as well. Good times. 👍🤙👍
Expansion chamber is very much needed, that exhaust is not suitable. I would restore the tillitson carb as it is much better suited in all ways really. Let it warm up before you ride as it is simply impossible to tune it cold. Cool build!
Completely optimize the intake duct, including the ports and the manifold. Possibly also the carb, but that is absolutely not mandatory. Twenty years ago I started by replacing a 50 cc with an 80 cc Malossi, on a Derbi Senda, max 14,000 rpm. Standard carb of diameter 17. Too big makes you have to rev up the engine.
Super cool! My crazy uncle wanted to put a McCullough 2 stroke chainsaw engine on our mini bike but my mom put the breaks on that 🤣 same uncle who wanted me to be named William Robert so he could call me Billy Bob 🤔
Love that you guys are using the Original music for the vids.Daniel's Uncle must have been a Hoot. The bike sure is.I like what you did with the forks and handlebars. It still looks 'vintage'but will be allot better to ride.I'd suggest the tank be moved to the reserve spot, and vice-versa.I had a 2-stroke cart and when it got to 1/2 tank it quit because the weight of the fuel didn't push for flow.
Great videos as always. We should do one together. I am from the soap box team "come on Barbie, lets go party" I will be rebuilding the jeep over the summer.
I think that Tilly rebuilt would have done it more justice. I had a Chrysler power bee that I sold while in a bind and I'm kicking myself in the ass cuz I wanted to build a Schwinn chopper powered by the power bee that's clutched with a 3d powersports clutch. That's a idea for your mini bike clutch that beast with a 3d powersports clutch and replace the tillotson for crying out loud
better raise that gas tank to gravity feed that float carb, you have it so low that you might stave the motor, lean it and stick it. and/or add a mikuni fuel pump. FYI - under the fugly add on parts.. that engine looks like a West Bend 820 .. a desirable vintage kart racing engine (i.e. could be worth some bucks!!!)
Nice build but earlier on he said the engine was pretty insane.. 11hp, 8k Rpm lol Why was the minibike so slow and stopping by foot with 2 brakes on it lol.. Need todo the hi stall mod to the clutch for 1.. That US 820 .. ive seen em go wayy faster on vintage karts, but for some reason, not quite as fast as Mcculochs with much less cc's. I had a fresh US820 but never got to complete the gokart build back then (cashed out for double what i paid for it tho i wish i did get to run it. Id love to see u guys dial it in tho.. I love 2 strokes and would love to see it whoop some 4 strokers lol. Thanks for the video tho.. Love watchin u guys. Peace
i have almost the same bike but mine is a keystone { i think its a 1968 } its got front shocks and a spring seat.. i had it since i was 6 and i still have it and im 48 now,, its got a 200cc 4stroke motor in it now from a honda generator... i call it the pucker up lol
Love the video guys. My sons and I started our own channel featuring kinda of the same stuff. First video is coming soon!!! Keep up the great work though guys💪🏽
I like the younger Adam Savage guy. Need more of him.
Appreciate it!
You should rebuild the tillotson carb. Great carbs.
Agreed
It actually didn't run bad with the tillotson carb, but it starts much easier with the new carb.

I like that front rim you put on it can't beat a 2 piece wheel so much better when installing a tire...
You can hear that band break on the clutch just singing 🎶👌

Unless the ports on 2 strokes are setup for a expansion chamber they dont really do much
@@mat6179 Still will do a lot more than that 4 stroke tractor like exhaust
@@mat6179 expansion chamber is really important
That thing is pretty cool.
yes put a bigger carb and restrict it with a smaller intake manifold

you should set the port timings on it, raise the exhaust port and build an expansion chamber for this thing

Early mini bikes had little 2 strokes on em that would of been cool 😎 iv also herd of old Clinton 4 stroke chain saws
The foot-brake is rad
The canteen gas tank! Love it! ❤️

you need to get a frount fender for the wheel otherwise you will fill up the air filter underneith it with crap ,,great viedo hope to see more

now put a properly tuned pipe with a torque converter for a whole lot of power and speed.

Still sounds lean
Not much smoke
I’d go up one more jet

Ooof that chain. Id replace it. I feel like its robbing some power.
i just realized that the gas tank on top is a Vietnam canteen
Where can i find this engine??
NOw for a Muffler/silencer, so he can Stealth it.
LS swap it.
