Thank you Steve... For creating this excellent backing track so we can practice Yngwie's solo... No kidding I am using it.... Steve is a great guitarrist and person but this time he forgot to do a solo and it's great!!!
@ctrockstar7168 Yngwie J Malmsteen was the Original guitarist for Alcatrazz! He was then replaced by Steve Vai! Some would say that a Phenomenal guitarist was replaced by someone even more Phenomenal! 🎸
Typical Malmsteen-fans. Vai covering Malmsteen?... Haha, talk about being corky. This song is written by Russ Ballard, the guy that wrote 'Since You Been Gone', 'I Surrender' etc. for Rainbow. This song was written for a Graham Bonnet solo album in the early 80's, that featured Cozy Powell on drums, Jon Lord on keyboards amongst others. Micky Moode from Whitesnake plays the original guitar. The song was well-recieved by the Alcratrazz-fans, so it became a concert staple during their sets.
You're a bit cocky there yourself... Night Games was written Edwin Hamilton not Russ Ballard. You're getting it mixed up with S.O.S off the same album which Ballard wrote.

As far as polished, super tight, refined progressive metal Alcatrazz is the second best band of all time, IMO. The best is Iron Maiden. Bonnet/Vai Alcatrazz is in the same league as Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Alexander the Great. Bonnet/Yngwie Alcatrazz I would compare to the faster, more fiery Maiden songs.

Just my opinion, but both Vai and Malmsteen pretty much blow Ritchie Blackmore off of the map. Vai plays with more precision and refinement than Blackmore ever did, and Yngwie breathes absolute fire into the Blackmore tunes he covers, taking them to a whole new level. Blackmore obviously inspired Yngwie, but Yngwie is like a turbocharged version of Blackmore.
David Topchiev Yngwie's playing still has that same sound after all these years, very true. However, that is why his legions of fans love his music. Very few musicians change their playing in a radical way over the years. Using the great classical composers as an example, how many of them did a total and sudden metamorphosis at some point in their composing career? Every Bach piece has that essential Bachness. Ditto for Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and so on. Same deal with rock musicians, and practically every musician out there. Listen to Blackmore's Night, than listen to a Rainbow album such as Bent Out of Shape, and tell me that both aren't instantly recognizable as Blackmore. And that is good as well as normal. Just my two cents on this issue. Have a good one.
David Topchiev Yngwie has one thing, in spades, that Val has none of. Fire!!! Listen to Alcatrazz with Yngwie, than Alcatrazz with Vai. Who cares who has more knowledge of theory. Yngwie is a blast to listen to!! Vai is about as fun as attending an 8 AM theory class.
What the fuck does yngwie have to do with a song he never played on? You know that this was a cover originally recorded with micky moody on guitar right? That means its open to interpretation
@SotaDTjg Malmsteen is overrated, deal with it. You have every right to love him. For me he is just another guitarist that dresses like, and has the same difficult personality as Ritchie Blackmore. The difference between Blackmore and Malmsteen is that Blackmore plays from his soul, while Malmsteen through his fingers, while copying Ritchie's playing, combined with the usual guitarwanker-style.
malmsteen can not be compared to steve vai. Never really liked Malm's style.... IMO Vai owns him anytime....but you guys argue with each other as much as u wanmt..i dont care. Vai 4 life.

Yeah! Great album with Jon Lord on keyboards and Cozy Powell on drums...
Graham keeping excellent company here
Steve vai fantastic blow mind non guitar solo
Comparatively speaking Yngwie was on another planet. Such speed and precision blew every guitarist away. Still holds up 40 years later
Vai can do pretty much anything. Yngwie pigeonholed himself as a one-trick pony. There is zero evolution in his playing.
