All the plays shown expect for the every first one is what every single END is supposed to make. These are plays EXPECTED from him not him being special.
Which is what you want from him. This is a low standard to have if we are thinking of Young.

That first play he showed was horrible. Yes there are pursuit angles that every level knows how to take but it’s clear that the effort wasn’t 110% there either.
Being a current coach at the the college and was watching this EXACT same play with two other coaches it’s very clear that there wasn’t maximum effort.

They NEED this startling front to terrorize Mahommes and that OL.
The plays shown in this video are what is expected from your starting END in the NFL. Why San Fran got this Young was to be SPECIAL and just to be the basic standard of BOXING and SPILLING on run fits and getting “some pressures”.

I've learn that there are people that post complete crap to mess with the 49ers and the fans. Especially the part about "there will be a change in the lineup! Young is taking too many plays off" BS.
I just saw another post somewhere that said "how a team feels about a player is reflected in how they are paid, so Purdy's salary is a reflection on how management really feels about Purdy! ... in other words ... crap ...
These people are something else. It's the Fantasy Football Players. They are the source of grief regarding the 49ers, Jimmy G, and now Brock. Using any and every stat to put down the team esp our QBs.And the talking heads aren't helping. To use Jimmy G's success as an argument to say "See? Anyone can take this team to the Super Bowl!" ... which is hilarious b/c during that time, those same people said that b/c of the defense and running game, the 49ers won in spite of Jimmy G, not b/c of him .... these are truly strange times as a 49er fan ...

Nick wright “analysts” are a plague.
      They’re not analysts, they’re journalists
and loudmouth pundits Skip bayless, Stephen A, Greeny, all these heads talk loud about the game and numbers all day but can’t analyze the tape cuz they have never played.
Not to mention that absolute BUM of a human Colin cowherd when Tyreek asked him what sport he played, he faltered and couldn’t answer 😂😂.
It’s had an impact on the Irvins, the Sharpes, the Orlovskys, the Sherman’s guys who’ve played pro ball but have to talk down to the masses so they can’t talk X and O. And people regurgitate what they say because the pundits are the ones driving the narratives, and not everyone will take the time and learn what actually happened on plays.
I want the niners to win this game so I’ve been checking out some of their content creators and see what they have to offer on RUclips for film review. Safe to say that Kreug guy has never shown any film on his channel, while a lot of others have.
I ignore everything they have to say and instead go to YT to watch people analyze film and specific plays, not the media narrative (why did the Seahawks not run the ball? Is a perfect example)

Not sure who Krueg Dude is but, speaking to this video and being someone who played at a very high level and now coaches and scouts there was a lot I disagreed with.
The first play I was watching it with 2 other coaches and we all said the same thing about lack of effort. There wasn’t lack of effort the whole game but on some plays you can tell that he “takes it off” and others he doesn’t.
Also, most of the plays shown in this video are what is EXPECTED from any starting and backup END to make. He didn’t get signed to BOX and SPILL vs run fits, this is expected of him. He got signed to be a OC and OL nightmare. Him and Bosa to anchor that starting front 4 and to have the ball come out super quick and getting to the QB, hitting the QB, sacking the QB, moving him off his spot and forcing him to make poor decisions.
Having the OC to bring in multiple guys to help and chip.
This game will show just how good he is and San Fran asking him to be SPECIAL!!!!

Young is not bad and it's not the problem. The problem is the 49ers defensive scheme where they always rushing 4 man wide 9. You only run wide 9 if you're in long coverage. It is not intend to stop the run. That is the problem. Not only are you rushing 4 man but doing wide 9 makes it even worst. So, if the team intend to run the ball in the middle with two TEs, you're toast because you're basically eliminate the two edge rushers because they're too far away....and so you can just rush in the middle with more guys to help block for the runners. You're basically looking at two man up front, not 4 on the 49ers side. This is why Lions RB getting huge cushion of space before they even got the ball handed to them. It's a pathetic defense.

solid video. My qualm though has been Armstead and his vegan diet making regress as a pass rusher and less strength spills over to his ability as a run stopper too. He's still solid, sure no argument here. But you can't tell me he's gotten better since the 2019 season. Watch him coast till it's contract year again.

  • @LacSlyer
    @LacSlyer 9 месяцев назад

I think some of his performance has been over blown, but I do think there are notable concerns they should have. One thing to recognize is that with most of the plays where he made an impact you should take note of who is blocking him, as those plays he had a TE or WR on him instead of a lineman. He made a great play on the goal line stand, but then the draw play the RB runs right into him instead of behind his LT to at least get positive yards. So not all of these are truly good examples of his performance either.
As far as measuring pressure, I agree that it can be subjective, but the examples you give aren't great because he's not really getting significant pressure and it was more of Goff being Goff and showing why the Rams got rid of him.

He seems to show up a lot better on run plays at times more than Bosa. His power moves to Bosa's finesse moves can be a huge asset if they move them both around. You see it when they run games too Especially since Armstead has the length to set the edge. It almost seems like Armstead and Young should be on the same side always and Hargrave and Bosa on the same. Everyone talking about the outside mismatch. We need to rush to contain and not to sack. Hargrave/Armstead vs their all pro interior is gonna go a long way in deciding game

I noticed Chase Young doing a decent to great job in all these videos with the notable exception of the Gibbs TD run. The dude I noticed out of position on almost every play is Greenlaw. I don't recall his name being mentioned much in this game except that one time when he put that nice hit on LaPorta and he got the stinger. Hopefully, that was the reason for his sub par game and he'll be back on Sunday to put a few Ronnie Lott hits on Pacheco and send a message. Niners not strong in the middle of the D line and Bosa is too often out of position---Greenlaw and Warner are going to have to play lights out in this Super Bowl to bring the Lombardi back to the Bay! #Hufanga missed much but no excuses--Bring it home Niners!!!

Yeah I saw everyone on Twitter getting pissed off at young for this play but like I don’t really know this game so I’d rather have an expert, a coach or player break it down before I say anything
But it did seem like he pulled up
And sure enough the players have responsibilities that normal fans who’ve never played before don’t know and aren’t aware of

I feel like when we traded for young, people were expecting Bosa like numbers. But that's not who he is. I think he's doing a good job. Especially since he's only getting paid a few million.

I did not understand what Wilks/Def was doing on that 3rd and 12. The D line was shifted heavy over to the strong side and far hash, leaving the other side of field exposed and open. I remember saying before that ball was snapped, I hope they don’t go to the other side of the field here, and sure enough they did. I don’t know if they audibled into that run play, on a 3rd and 12 of all things, but it was the right call at the right time for sure. Gained a first down. Smh

Yeah I can’t believe everyone was mad at young like the niners had liken 3 guys on the weak of the field the lions had the numbers going that direction it’s on the pre snap alignment not a single player

I think that the whole team was responsible for getting behind and they was responsible for coming back I think there was too much discussed about the defense after the game the only thing that is needed is to come out with the proper focus and effort and not wait until your back is against the wall to show up that is it the Chase Young scapegoating is incredible sure he hasn't been what we want but there are other guys that missed assignments and had some effort issues

  • @ligance

Eh...some of these are just him going against a tight end or just normally doing an average job. But you'd hope a player with his talent and attributes deliver a real impact. He isn't some random 5th round pick

Before you even started it the beginning of your I don’t know podcast whatever you wanna call I don’t know if these things are I just know listen listening before you get into the video and get deep into details. I’m at the very beginning and I want to see that I thought what Young did that second half even a little bit in the first. I thought he was doing phenomenal by him, playing pressure being disruptive and everything else going to play I thought he made some big plays that were very beneficial.

He was doing good things but it’s play he could have made but didn’t look like he was putting in enough effort, he played good but in the Super Bowl good isn’t good enough you have to play great, it’s a couple plays he couldn’t get to the QB but was close enough to at lease jump as swat the ball out the air, that’s the only lack I see on the field when we can’t get to the QB fast enough we are always in reach to jump and swat the ball at lease attempt to and I haven’t seen it on one play in this video, put all pressure on the QB make him have second and third thoughts on throwing and who to throw to

Dude I watched the WHOLE GAME…you’re cherry picking and as a niners fan I saw it immediately. Young was certainly not playing at full speed the whole first half. His teammates even pointed it out (without mentioning him specifically but we know who they were talking about) …not to mention there have been past games where he did the same crap. The guy wants off the team or to retire, some guys are happy either way 30 mil in the bank and don’t want to live in a wheelchair as multimillionaires

I was saying this the entire time watching the game. Show Bosa and compare. Bosa ran past the run play way too many times.
