It’s likely that they left after the death of the original hydro archon. Focalors is not one of the original seven so the Oceanids likely didn’t approve of Focalors and her way of ruling (or vice Versa) so decided to abandon their homeland in favour of perusing some form of freedom or preservation elsewhere in Teyvat.
Something that I noticed at 3:56 is that after the Traveler pulls out their weapon, they start reaching toward their head as if something is getting in their head, while Paimon flies around and seems to check to see what's wrong. Not sure if this means anything, but it's interesting to wonder what it may foreshadow!

@@Chaera0123 it might be an animation error. like how in zhonglis trailer, you can see a guy without a chair. sitting on nothing. so yeah, most likely an animation error, but there is a possiblity it might be on purpose and be a rule for the courtroom.
It's true that a lot of Fontaine is based on France, but this week I was visiting Venice and immediately reminded me of Fontaine and how the city is flooding little by little and in the future is probably going to become an underwater museum with all its beautiful architecture. Also the location of Fontaine in the map makes it feel like it's the Mediterranean Sea.
As a French, I think Fontaine is based on France, England an Italy. The melting pot of names, aesthetics and influences is quite visible. It is just like Monstadt which melt Germany and Netherland or Sumeru which melt so much country that I can't even name them all 😅.
Yeah they probably mixed in a little bit of Italy in it. Like you said the way the city is build is similar to Venice but also there are recipes like lasagne wich is more likely an Italian dish.

4:24 I'm so happy childe is finally appearing again as a main character in the plot of a nation literally missed him too much (he's in my party ever since he got released as a playable character)
3:20 the way the clockworks abruptly stop right as the sentence “Why can it deliver sentences accurately?” ends gives me a chill. Makes me feel that there’s… something *inaccurate*, about the statement. Guess we’ll see when the Archon quest becomes available. The music, the choreography of the scenes, the beat drops, the dialogues and their acting by the VAs, everything about this trailer is absolutely marvelous!
I think it's pretty clear from the whole trailer that Fontaine's story will be about the dark side of justice, how it's all a performance for the eyes of the people and nobody actually cares about truth or justice. And, since the traveler did nothing wrong but they're still being hunted by Fontaine robot guards, I would guess that false sentencing is going to be a big part of the story. Also because in the previous Fontaine trailer (the one with Alice and the melusine), Alice said something like "now that melusine wouldn't accuse an innocent of a crime they didn't commit... Or, would she?".
Because their concept of “Justice” is inherently flawed, just like the concept of “knowledge and wisdom” used to be back in Sumeru. “Judge, jurying, judgment and execution” are all at the hands of one specific person, with Focalors as an higher viewer (you know, not from the demographic). We already saw that in history books and it failed horribly, because, who knows if that person is using justice as an excuse to justify their horrible, manipulative goals
Notice that also the clock stopped working. Did something happen with the clock or did the electricity supply in Fontaine suddenly get cut due to an unforseen circumatance?

I was excited for Fontaine’s arrival, but Childe’s gonna be there too?! Now I’m even more hyped. Can’t wait to see Childe’s grand entrance in the story quest

I genuinely feel like the game just gets better and better. Characters old and new, scenery, combat, open world interaction, story, it all just keeps getting better.
I love seeing Childe in the main story. As we move on to different regions we leave most characters behind in the main story so it's nice to have some consistency- plus Childe is awesome!

Yep. I really didn't like how Inazuma progressed and ended its Archon Quest, thankfully the writers from 1.4 returned to make Sumeru and Fontaine and shaped Sumeru to be better... Inazuma deserved a better story... So many things done wrong...
I can relate. It felt different when you play each archon quest as the time they released. Especially when you really excited towards the next archon quest
If not for the game which is the Traveler's perspective, Childe would be the main character of the story. He literally makes every patch good not to mention his VA is a blessing. I'm really proud to main this archer class ginger head.
Ikr when you think about it, in terms of human race peak, Childe amongst all the revealed char is only one who has the connection to everything that is big Abyss power Delusion Vision Like storywise he can be applied everywhere and have a huge impact
@@dragjan Currently, he is the only playable character who has ties to almost every important factor in the story, a fatui harbinger, has a delusion, has been into the abyss and has seen the abyss before, and was the main driving force between the near destruction of Liyue, there is no other main playable character that isn’t the traveler currently has so many ties to so many important plots, the only other one could be Kaeya
The reason people feel Fontaine was fast is because we are now used to waiting. If you remember 1.0 waiting for Inazuma felt so long even though it was only 7 patch difference but felt so long a lot of people were complaining lack of things to do. Because of this we can wait for sumeru where there was 9 patch difference, because we can wait for sumeru we can easily wait for fontaine and now natlan
This looks absolutely phenomenal! Underwater looks so pretty and Hoyo never disappoints, they always keep increasing the levels. Childe had an amazing entrance as well lol.

I've been dying to play this region since I started playing, and by all appearances, it won't disappoint. I hope the writing team was as passionate about this region as they were the last.
Genshin's trailers have been progressively becoming more cinematic with each update, showcasing breathtaking visuals, beautiful animation, and awe-inspiring artwork. I can hardly contain my excitement to explore Fontaine and embark on the archon quests and dive into the underwater regions. Seeing Childe again is such a delight, it's been a while since he last appeared in any archon quests after Liyue, It's high time he lends a hand to his fellow comrade.
Genshin Impact once again reinvents itself visually. The storyline also seems to take exciting new turns and twists. Can't wait to explore Fontaine. Sumeru went by really quickly

The fontaine authority confiscated his vision. In the trailer, he probably was trying to get it back. 2. Childe hides his vision cuz furina could easily recognize the oddities of vision shapes.
I just hope that there will be an updats where even we are not in a story quest, we can still see playable characters performing or doing their art like Yunjin and Nilou dancing and Lyney and Lynette doing magic tricks. They can use their idle animations for this to happen because I'm sure that after the story quests and Archon quest, the opera will be a giant empty stage similar to the Sumeru Stage.
What I kind of wish for is Soemthing similar to the fallout series where you sometimes encounter random people while exploring but this random encounters are with regular character which you can help to do side quests
I have only two words: ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE!!! The music, the cinematography, the designs, the voices, CHILDE(??), I seriously can't wait to finally play it, if I can. (rip mobile users)
Hopefully this region, Hoyo will finally do versions of characters (like Dan Heng and Imbibitor Lunae), and release delusion Childe. Would be really fitting seeing he's back in the story.

I mean, I don’t think he’s a hidden antagonist. I think he’ll be the primary antagonist, at least for the first couple Acts. I feel like the court will serve a similar role as the Shogunate Army or the Akademiya. Antagonists who aren’t truly villains. In fact, Childe might actually be on our side this time around
I joined during the second half of 4.0, exploring Fontaine was extremely fun and was my first area fully explored! Im now currently AR58 with everything 100% (except the chasm above and under)
Fontaine has got to be one if not the BEST looking region in the game so far. Besides Sumeru of course. Fontaine captures that I love about some aesthetics like steampunk or fantasy. It mashed what I love about most things and turned it into something new. Something beautiful. And I adore that. The lack of Arlecchino shown here when we saw her in the last trailer puts me edge. And Childe being there brings up even more questions. Why is he there? Why is he using his delusion and not his vision? And then there’s the situation with the Wonder Trio, Lyney, Lynette and Freminette and what happened to Lynette. I think Fontaine is going to be the point of no return story wise and we are going to helplessly watch as everything crumbles to show the true horrors that lie within Genshin Impact’s story. Bringing us a step closer to its inevitable end

@@bella_daze3092 Yeah no Alex up there had a bad take, Sumeru is currently my favorite nation, explored more over Inazuma simply because of the breathtaking environment design of Sumeru, I took A LOT of pics as I did the Aranara questline; per mission I think I managed to snap atleast 10 pics , and every new portion of the map felt hand painted in terms of lighting and composition. Sumeru's rainforest felt raw and full of life which really appealed to me. The desert portion I'd understand if people didn't like, but as someone who was born in a desert; I felt right at home even when exploring its underground labyrinths.
Taking into account Genshin's parent game Honkai, it seems to be the case. Focalors as Furina in design is partly based on Sin Mal from Honkai, especially the partial sadistic side. The idea of dual personality/ego is akin to Seele/Veliona, with the sea being the important aspect of their stories.
I don't think so, it seems like Furina was only pretending to be nice to welcome us, which in the end turned out that all of this was just a trap made by Furina just so we were judged because we were Outsiders.
I wasn't too excited for Fontaine because I love my Sumeru boys and I was sad to move on from their stories but seeing Childe back in action I'm so hyped

3:20 the way the clockworks abruptly stop right as the sentence “Why can it deliver sentences accurately?” ends gives me a chill. Makes me feel that there’s… something *inaccurate*, about the statement. Guess we’ll see when the Archon quest becomes available. The music, the choreography of the scenes, the beat drops, the dialogues and their acting by the VAs, everything about this trailer is absolutely marvelous!
I think it's pretty clear from the whole trailer that Fontaine's story will be about the dark side of justice, how it's all a performance for the eyes of the people and nobody actually cares about truth or justice. And, since the traveler did nothing wrong but they're still being hunted by Fontaine robot guards, I would guess that false sentencing is going to be a big part of the story. Also because in the previous Fontaine trailer (the one with Alice and the melusine), Alice said something like "now that melusine wouldn't accuse an innocent of a crime they didn't commit... Or, would she?".

Genshin's trailers have been progressively becoming more cinematic with each update, showcasing breathtaking visuals, beautiful animation, and awe-inspiring artwork. I can hardly contain my excitement to explore Fontaine and embark on the archon quests and dive into the underwater regions.
Seeing Childe again is such a delight, it's been a while since he last appeared in any archon quests after Liyue, It's high time he lends a hand to his fellow comrade.
My exact thoughts while watching this, I love how the trailers have been improving more and more!
Genshin Impact once again reinvents itself visually. The storyline also seems to take exciting new turns and twists. Can't wait to explore Fontaine. Sumeru went by really quickly

Theories about why childe doesn’t bring his hydro vision:
1. The fontaine authority confiscated his vision. In the trailer, he probably was trying to get it back.

Fontaine has got to be one if not the BEST looking region in the game so far. Besides Sumeru of course. Fontaine captures that I love about some aesthetics like steampunk or fantasy. It mashed what I love about most things and turned it into something new. Something beautiful. And I adore that. The lack of Arlecchino shown here when we saw her in the last trailer puts me edge. And Childe being there brings up even more questions. Why is he there? Why is he using his delusion and not his vision? And then there’s the situation with the Wonder Trio, Lyney, Lynette and Freminette and what happened to Lynette. I think Fontaine is going to be the point of no return story wise and we are going to helplessly watch as everything crumbles to show the true horrors that lie within Genshin Impact’s story. Bringing us a step closer to its inevitable end
I think Childe is using electro because his water vision won't be effective in Fontaine. Just a theory.

Sumeru may not have been for everyone but it still is a pretty location and the story was enjoyable to play through. If it wasn’t for you, that’s okay. @@bella_daze3092 Yeah no Alex up there had a bad take, Sumeru is currently my favorite nation, explored more over Inazuma simply because of the breathtaking environment design of Sumeru, I took A LOT of pics as I did the Aranara questline; per mission I think I managed to snap atleast 10 pics , and every new portion of the map felt hand painted in terms of lighting and composition. Sumeru's rainforest felt raw and full of life which really appealed to me.
The desert portion I'd understand if people didn't like, but as someone who was born in a desert; I felt right at home even when exploring its underground labyrinths.

Focalors crying at the first scene makes me feel like that's her second personality.
Taking into account Genshin's parent game Honkai, it seems to be the case. Focalors as Furina in design is partly based on Sin Mal from Honkai, especially the partial sadistic side. The idea of dual personality/ego is akin to Seele/Veliona, with the sea being the important aspect of their stories.

I don't think so, it seems like Furina was only pretending to be nice to welcome us, which in the end turned out that all of this was just a trap made by Furina just so we were judged because we were Outsiders.
I wasn't too excited for Fontaine because I love my Sumeru boys and I was sad to move on from their stories but seeing Childe back in action I'm so hyped
