- I went creek fishing for TROUT with a lure that NEVER fails! It was a bright sunny day with no clouds in the sky. The water levels were low and the water was crystal clear. Very tough trout fishing conditions but my go to trout lure was able to fool some trout! I ended up catching a decent amount of fish and a few quality trout as well. It was a great day of trout fishing!

Love the videos Hawk, thanks. Could you possibly do a video on the finer points of casting? You seem to do a lot of "underhand" and "backhand" casting. You're often in somewhat tight spaces, surrounded by trees and brush; I suspect I speak for many fans when I say... We'd love some tutorials from our favorite guide!

I switched from roostertails to joes flies about 10 years ago. The black woolybuger with a gold blade and a red tip is unbelievable.
I caught an 8 pound largemouth a couple days ago on one.
Roostertail is still a great lure though.
I love Joe's Flies. The black one you are talking about has caught many trout for me. Great lures. That's insane you caught an 8 lber on a Joe's Flies. Awesome!
Hey FishHawk. Another great vid. FYI - regarding stupid GoPro batteries always dying at the wrong time, I chest mount a GP 7 Black and added a small 10000mAh power bank with peel n stick Velcro and Velcro cable wraps underneath. (I also run it through the ext. audio GP adaptor as I use a lav mic). I can shoot for almost 2 whole days now. Total life saver! Now I just have to remember to carry extra sd cards. And also remember when the camera is already recording so when I hook up I don’t turn it off by accident! Hate that! Cheers.
that's a great idea for the chest mount, but it wouldn't work for underwater shots unfortunately.
Fish Hawk ah, very true. I’ve yet to try doing any underwater shots and those are kinda money shots. The short battery life just drove me crazy.

I've been fishing for a long time and get never had fish like that and maybe fish like that doesn't exist in my country
All my best trout were caught on either a rooster tail or trout magnet. The 1/8 oz. w/ black feathers, gold spoon and single hook is my absolute favorite ❤ if only they made em' with salt water hooks too, rooster tails are irresistible to all species of fish.

My go to for most species is a panther Martin. Haven't been skunked with that lure more than ten times in twenty years. I primarily fish trout, what a Slayer!
I believe it. Panther Martin is definitely one of the best. I've caught my fair share of trout on a Panther Martin :)
Another good vid FH. I use a larger Rooster Tail, in white, when chasing Smallies. I don't use them for Trout much. Maybe I should, but I find that I stick to Mepps and Blue Fox. Occasionally a Panther Martin.

The small "fry" were out en mass today, eh? My dark grey/black Yakima/Worden only does well in the shade (as one would expect - the dark color fish/etc come out more when it's dark out so that they're harder to spot). For me the light brown/gold tends to play best, but green and black (just like the Trout Magnet) is tops for me.

Those are actually quite big browns considering small creeks like that can't support big fish. So you were catching some near full grown ones✊
Actually, streams 1/10th or 1/20th of that size can support seriously large brown trout, but whether any particular stream will, depends on many factors. And when I compare sizes, I mean, of course, in terms of average discharge.

I spent about 20 minutes trying to entice a nice Golden out from under a submerged log, to no avail. Without waders, I just couldn’t get in a good enough position for a good attack angle.

Question. Do you ever actually see them before they hit? I've recently been fishing in creeks (thanks to some inspiration watching your videos, lol) and I've had some luck (no trout yet, fingers crossed) but I almost never actually see the fish regardless of the conditions before the hit. The odd time I'll see a shimmer of light reflect off them, but otherwise never. These creatures have adapted so well to their environments.
Sometimes, if they hit the lure close to me. But most of the time I just see a “flash” or nothing at all.

to clarify less than 10% of stocked fish are brown trout here so they do get big but they're also not common
