  • In today's DBZ Dokkan Battle video we are looking at the worst mechanics to ever exist in DBZ Dokkan Battle
    This could range from many things like domains, super attack nullification or even the newly introduced target skill animation
    This video is really going to harp on the point that the new mechanics are pretty much recycled and worst versions of ones we already have. Do you agree? Let me know in the comments below.

      And also add that if they could be overridden rather than having to wait out for the others domain to fade, then it would be a pretty good ability

    For me one of the worst mechanics is guarding chance characters, for example ssj bardock, you can either take 300 k damage or 31 damage depending on your luck

    Tbh I'd like it they'd introduce the mechanic of stacking domains on top of each other or even merging domains with each other after meeting a certain conditions

      With super bosses having 3 main domains, the stacking of them would finally unleash the true power of the team. And considering the power of super heroes, with UI, Gogeta, Beast, MUI, Vegeta, Evoken and so on, it may not even be as busted as it sounds, but more like a great equaliser

      Maybe the domain isn't active on the turn the character isn't on so for phy rose his would only be active on his turn, then the other could have infinite zamasu's domain

    “Cell max and Gogeta don’t need the mechanic at all..” but their kits directly have them build up either stats or crit from dodging? What about that is unnecessary. And bosses who get ghost ushered end up supering more than once at times in the next turn OR 2 AoEs. So this is a much better mechanic when the unit can actually make use of it. Regardless if they are stunned/sealed, they won’t be taking dmg in most events.

      That just isn’t true lol, Gogeta doesn’t build up any stats from it by the time you actually use it because you will be maxed out dodge. Same with Cell Max he will be built up by the time you actually pop that target skill because you aren’t popping it as soon as you get it, you wait till the end. There is no evidence that backs double supers after a delay attack or more attacks in general, if it does I’ve never seen it in game so it must be incredibly rare. The only true unit who benefits from it is Beast, he’s the only unit that so far makes sense with a target skill

      ​@@legendaryred24Once Gogeta transforms, he gains dodging and 20% crit chance for each time he dodges, which is why people are giving him a dodge build. Which is what I think this person is referring to.

      @@legendaryred24cell max is the only one your logic applies to since by the time you use his active his defense is gonna be maxed out, in Gogeta’s case, he gets 20% Crit per dodge so it helps him get more damage during that turn. Also since his redirect gives him dodge so he can’t even be sealed or stunned if he cannot even be hit so I don’t believe it’s that Redirection is bad, it’s that it needs to work with the Units Kit. Beats gets Atk per hit, Gogeta gets Crit per dodge, Cell max is also different cause sure he doesn’t build up anything but it doesn’t matter if he gets sealed or stunned because super bosses already can deal a lot of damage quickly but they can also take a lot of damage so his redirection is meant for him to be a Human Meat shield to protect the team and he’s unkillable. So going by your logic, here’s the criteria for the Redirect to actually Matter.
      1: It has to make that character unable to take damage for a team that has defense issues in harder content regardless if the Redirect causes that unit to get stunned/sealed to help score a win.
      2: the character should dodge when it activates to avoid being unable to deal damage while also still protecting the team regardless if they have the damage to handle the boss or not.
      3: the boss needs to build up certain stats like atk, defense, crit, or even help a unit build up dodge or something (just throwing out ideas).
      4: The Redirection should deal damage, Gogeta’s can deal some damage especially on a crit, same with Cell max. Granted beast is strong but his deals no damage So if he gets sealed or stunned then there’s no damage, meanwhile Gogeta & Cell max can still deal damage that turn even IF it’s a little.

      Sure but again it is the same mechanic dressed up differently. The mechanic itself doesn’t need to exist if we have one that performs the same and it is better

      @@NasNate Something like this can make target skills better. The only thing target skills do better than delay attacks is when you are fighting multiple enemies, but by turn 7 you ain’t fighting no one with multiple enemies 😭

    I got to disagree heavily with the video. The last part was very true and accurate. I think anybody who's played against a locking boss can agree. The first part I also get with having characters transformation linked to domains and getting locked of it is annoying. But I do like that it also buffs the boss. It makes you think if it's worth activating the domain to get a transformation when it would buff the boss. The entire middle part tho I disagree with. You're bug argument is that there is something better in the form of stuning/attack delaying. The thing is though why have any effect on super attack when you could just have those. You don't need defense if they can attack you so why have defensive raises on supers? Why should any mechanic to lessen damage exist when you can just attack delay them and don't have to worry about it?

      I agree but the issue is they are taking these mechanics that existed previously and then package them up as new mechanics. If it was vise versa then it wouldn’t be an issue but these mechanics are complete downgrades to existing stuff and then branded as new

    I feel like the redirect attack being here is based on the unit's kit, 1st we only have 4 characters with said ability, and 2 of them build up from attacks via dodge or hits (gogeta and beast, cell max is a niche case if your trying to get his additional super in slots 2 or 3). And 2nd, delaying attacks doesn't stop supers or change attack order so if you didn't like the pattern, you can't reroll it. And before someone says, "gogeta blue gets one turn to build up before his active and that's enough," ik everyone can say that the 70% chance sometimes fails and that one hit was enough to end runs, so it's likely to avoid too many attacks before gogeta gets to super.

    Tbh sometimes i think to myself that since there are bosses who cancel dodge maybe in the futur bosses will disable additionals or critics for a certain type
    Or .....idk maybe if you dodge an attack then the next attacking character will take more damage....
    There are so many mechanics the dev can come up with

    Unironically I firmly believe the reason they are introducing "downgrades" to already existing mechanics is to lessen power creep and keep the game fresh. If a character could attack delay on super they would be the best slot 2 in the game, and then bosses would have to start having attack delay nullification, just like what happened with stun. Although attack break is weaker it allows for it to be used when a boss is immune to stun and without it being over powered to he point where it sets a new peak on the mountain that is power creep in Dokkan.

    One thing to help redirects or at least a character to have this mechanic in the future is allow him to be immune to enemy debuffs, stuns, and seals when its activated so that way they wont get screwed by enemy effects while protecting their team.

      In most of the gogeta's teams, gogeta blue isn't the first pick to put in slot 1.
      In slot 2 and 3, there is usually not enough attacks to fully build up his crit.

    Cell Max's passive is BIG, I'll give ya that, but he does get an additional Ki +1 (up to +5) and DEF +20% (up to 100%) with each attack receive AND if one is a super, he gets an 100% additional super.
    Man quite literally needs it else he's a sitting duck post intro.
    Gohan getting hit just doesn't have an upper limit, so it absolutely works the best on him.

    realistically if they do let you activate more than one domain active skill, itll probably only use the effect of the first/last one used but still allow you to do the transformation

    The worst part is most of the time you dont even care about the Domain itself, only about what it lets you do, Teq Zamasu is the only character whose Domain is worth it because it makes him invulnerable while also giving ki and defense to all of his allies, and then we have nigh worthless Domains like Super Broly's that gives him 26% DR before attacking and makes super bosses take a small ammount of additional damage, whereas the drawback of having frailer super units and not being able to transform with Teq Zamasu or Phy Black far far outweighs the buffs, it is a mechanic purely used to nerf you

    I highly agree. This is so annoying, beast gohan is always be sealed in hard events like gogeta and beast gohan
    Also , I can not use gogeta active in cancel dodge events which is absolutely stupid 😢( well at least my goat UI goku fixs that problem tho )

    But Gogeta does get built up (crit chance) with his dodges, which means that if we use his redirect and put him slot 3, with just 5 or 6 dodges he will have 100% chance to crit, which is pretty sick

      Exactly… redirect is a weakened version of delay attack. The issue is they keep repackaging mechanics that already exist make them weaker and say hey look new broken mechanic

    I haven't watched the video fully yet cause I stopped on the redirect attack but I should bring up that Gogeta actually does benefit from his redirect since he gains critical everytime he dodges and it stays on, meaning you either count each attack or put him in last slot with redirect on dodging everything and gaining more critical and he will be stomping damage onto the enemy...though idk about Cell Max so I won't fight for him

    Honestly for domain's
    For whenever they fix the issues
    Why not make it a risk or reward?
    For example: You have a chance to use Super Sayian Rose Goku Black's Domain Or Broly
    You are allowed to transform into Full Power with broly
    But you are sacrificing that specific ability to use his domian right away?
    Then when Rose's domain is finished
    You can either save Broly's domain now or a limited amount of turns before it goes away completely?

    3:23 Gogeta does need to dodge to build up his crit chance, and Cell Max does need to get hit to build up Def and Ki (although it's possible to get his 5 hits in before turn 4)

    Disable enemy action is goated,it low-key saves runs but you just don't know it(because we don't that the action that was disabled was a super attack or not) I have had bosses not super me because of this mechanic,I like to believe that alot of my runs were saved because of it

      That’s the thing tho you just think it does something but what’s the proof it does? I mean sure it is nice to get rid of one attack but it really doesn’t do anything. Usually it just gets rid of an attack that is doing double digits anyways

    I do agree with adding new mechanics like minusing ki, but most of this list, other than disabling attacks and attack nullification, was a stretch and more of a personal rant, which is fine since its your list. I just think there are worse mechanics in the game like chance to guard without knowing if it procs, turned based transformations that force you out of good base forms, the exchange mechanic, etc.

    Also with the one turn stun like the 7 anniversary. To me it is very HELPFUL. I just place the God bros or monke bros on a slot that have the least attacks and just stun it so I would take less damage which is helpful in my runs. But yea for the gogeta taunt ability is useless right now but MUI fixes that but i can stack more faster on attack in Gogeta Blue lol

    While the domain and redirect attacks mechanics i find flawed, i disagree heavily for the disable enemy attack. Yes, it is unpredictable to see which enemy hits are super attacks, but not only is disable attack guaranteed for every fight unlike stunning, it also effects enemy actions like healing and AOE attacks. Plus with how bosses super attacks have status effects like lowering defense, raising attack and making aoe stronger, its a a good soft barrier for the weaker units in the team to function, by slowing down enemy actions. Not to mention unlike delaying enemy atttacks, which still proceed in the same order as the last turn, this helps slow the cooldown for enemy super attacks too

    Disable Enemy Action definitely has a place, solely because of the Beast Gohan fight. LR PHY Ulthan's Active Skill has this effect, and lets you disable the super most of the time. Helps him if he's locked in slot 1, prevents your own Beast Gohan from getting stunned on his Active Skill turn (meaning he'll absolutely nuke the phase as a result), protects off rotations from being supered if necessary... The mechanic can absolutely be useful, and it isn't disabled like Stun and isn't as uncommon as Delay.

      To be fair. A lot of the abilities such as dodge and nullification can be rng. Same with orbs and additional supers. The game is rng

    Redirecting Attacks can be better, you know, if units have tremendously good dodge or guard, these events are getting more stronger, save Red Zone Kid Buu

    Gogeta gets increased Crit chance with every attack evaded, and Cell max gets ki + stats from getting attacked, an additional super from getting supered, as well as his defense boost on active allows him to heal up fully with just one orb so i wouldn't call their target skills pointless

    I think a Vegito would be super good with the target mechanic. Just imagine how destructive would be if a new Vegito with counters be with the redirect attack?

    Nice vid although I quite disagree with GB. He is Anniversary unit so of course he has new skill which is Target. Every new Anniversary unit will have new Skill. INT Fat Buu is not anniversary unit. If he is Anniversary unit, he will have Target skill instead of Ghost Usher skill

    7th Anniversary unit LR TEQ Blue Duo and LR PHY SSJ4 Gogeta can destroy one of the enemy attack as their new skill
    8th Anniversary unit has Standby skill as their new skill
    9th Anniversary unit has Target Skill as their new skill
    It's bad to say that Gogeta Blue doesn't need new Skills while they always do that every single Anniversary. Not to mention he is a part 1 9th Anniversary unit
    If Gogeta doesn't have Target skill then Beast Gohan doesn't have Target Skill either

      That’s not the point being made here at all, it is not Gogeta Blue doesn’t deserve a mechanic. I understand the it is a new mechanic introduced during the anniversary so naturally they gave it to the anni units, I understand. It still doesn’t make sense in terms of the design for Gogeta Blue. By the time you get his target skill your crit is built up anyways so all you do is just dodge, just give him the delay enemy attack at that point. It is moreso a rant of if they are gonna give Gogeta that ability make it worth while and unique not literally the exact same thing as delay enemy attack packaged as a different mechanic

    well i mean cell max redirecting still builds up his defence with each attack received if i recall correctly and i THINK it builds up the f2p phy LR beerus but im not too sure
    and unlike stuff like fat buu which only affects one enemy, attack redirection can also be used against multiple enemies! well at least i think so
    now all i have to do is wait for cell max on global so i can spend seven billion stones to get shafted for him

    First and last are the ones that make the most sense to be in a video like this
    2-4 shouldn't be in a "worst mechanics to ever exist" video because that would imply there's something really wrong with the mechanic that's makes it bad. But instead they're put here because there are other mechanics that can be seen as better. For taunt mechanics, every unit who has it benefits from the effect. Gogeta dodges and builds up crit, cell max builds up stats and ki and gets an additional super if he recieves a super attack within the turn. Gohan infinitely stacks up attack bonuses. While it's possible you fully build up with Gogeta or Cell before the active, it's clear it directly correlates to their kit
    Not sure about you, but there have been many times where I break the next attack and it was a super. Or I attack break once and it saved me from thousands of damage if the unit was too weak to tank normals. The vast majority of bosses can't even be stunned in the first place, and if every new character just had an usher mechanic where would be the difficulty? Not every mechanic is supposed to be useful in every stiuation, that's why it's a strategy game to use the mechanics you're given in the best way your situation provides.
    I'd like to remind you that for 2 years super attack counters couldn't nullify dodge cancelling. Super attack nullifications (outside of just tanking it) where the only way to take nothing from those supers. Sure you're missing out on some damage, but at the end of the day you're still taking 0 damage from a super, once again shouldn't be in a "worst mechanics" video.

They are already laying out a lot of potential, all they need to do is execute upon it over time. 10th anni will probably be the best we’ve ever had considering it’s a celebration of a decade of Dokkan. I am sure we’ll start to see that creativity then. Kits have been a little more varied and unique lately so, I am holding out hope 🙏🏻

    I have to disagree with the disable enemy action mechanic. It's better than a stun most of the time because it isn't disabled by 99% of difficult bosses and I don't think it makes sense to compare it to a delay attack effect since those are always on actives while the disable enemy action can be on super attacks. They would never add the attack delay effect to a super attack because it would literally be impossible to lose with it

    First: Gogeta having target is actually good cuz he needs to dodge 5 times to build up crit, and then they can make the boss disable dodge to get rid of this ability, however we don't have bosses immune to attack delay, and MUI re-enabling dodge isn't a Gogeta problem
    For beast it's pretty much the same since he needs to get hit to build up attack and crit so his taunt is actually great for nuking with him in slot 2/3 while not worrying about your other units dying
    Second: disable action is actually a decent effect to put on super, it works on enemies who are immune to stun and at the same time isn't as busted as attack delay, many times I've used the 7th year LRs and due to their lackluster defense i put them on a slot that has only one or very few attacks, sometimes they even get lucky and disable an AOE, Super or Heal from the boss which is very valuable, however it's very lackluster on active skills like PHY LR Ultimate Gohan as it only erases the very first attack which is pretty bad

      Sure for a Super Attack effect it is fine but it is still useless to the extent of just randomly getting of one attack, just give them delay attack on their active and it would be so much better

It being on their 18ki has much more value due to literally erasing an attack from existence every turn lol

    I disagree with the attack break personally. Sure on one hand it's a nerfed stun, but stun can be canceled by bosses, attack break cannot. Also, for units that attack break on active skill(LR fraudhan), it's good for events like The Beast Gohan fight where he almost always supers slot 1.

    Basically the whole point is to say “hey free ghost ushers are broken”. Just because there’s a better mechanic out there doesn’t mean that other ones are bad though.
    The Gogeta Blue active hate is ridiculous, he gets permanent crit from his dodges and has a counter for ki based supers in case he’s getting dodge canceled. Sure, it would be better if he did just delay attacks for a turn, but again what he has is far from bad.
    The real crime here is not talking about stacking damage reduction within the turn. That mechanic has always been awful. Consider per existing enemy, stats based on team category, or unit super attacks? There’s so many worse things to choose from than the newest mechanics.

    i don´t know if you wanted to focus most on playable mechanics, because in term of boss mechanics, the hole just goes deeper, but also there are more underwhelming mechanics than super attack block and taunt like:
    morele boost/costume change as well... it´s just like an transformation with less to offer (i guess no one will complain if they just call Kuririn and Gohan dressing the Freeza´s army uniform an transformation)
    Giant form(orange Piccolo is more like an active skill since you control it): Man, this SHITTY mechanic just burns up your time by making you waste like, 2 or 3 minutes of your life locked in an rotation without links which in most of cases does an underwhelming damage, the worst part is the fact that you CANT CONTROL IT, is like put another rng debuff on your team, and vs "timer" bosses, this mechanic turns into an russian roulette(most of times it will end exactly when the enemy timer is over)
    Super bar bosses: since Beerus fury bar this mechanic is completly flawed, since most of times you´ll be locked in a boss who will not take any damage until transform(and it´s not even like you can play around this and build up), this for it just transforms into an bloodlust killer that hits like a truck and then do an regular "super boss fight"... it´s just an filler mechanic to fill the theme of the character (y´know, since this mechanic was made for work along you using an item to lower that specific boss bar)
    this one i only saw them using once, but this shows how STUPID that idea was, i´m talking about that "insta kill" mechanic that Str Genki dama Goku does on the int Mui Goku, you know, the one where you must kill him before he attacks? nowdays this may be a kind of a joke, but back the time, i can bet that most of the people who played this, specially on boss rush 7 almost felt the terror of the rng putting this goku attacking first(i know that the game wanted you to take an Baba item, but really, wast an item slot and worst, spend an ITEM in a awakening event? i still wonder who approved that concept...)

      Yeah you honestly can keep diving deeper into and Giant form to me is not too much of an issue since some units can control when you use it and it is very broken when used properly
      Morale Boost 100% completely useless and should have been mentioned bc I think only 1 unit has it lol. Same with costume change. These are so bad I forgot they existed lol
      Fury bar... yeah it is super annoying lol, but it can be avoided if you can kill the bosses quick enough. The insta kill attacks are not too much of an issue now compared to how bad they were back in the day. The Spirit Bomb insta kill was so annoying lol. If they do that again it will 100% be on the next version of this lol.

I think that the Taunt is a different way to add a mechanic for the "Ghost Usher like" actives skills and that is not bad at all, i thinks is more consistent than the Domains.

The following turn you can use his active and maximise his crit chance before attacking. And this happens more often than not. Not to mention that Gogeta won't be affected by the boss's super attack effect, unlike Beast. Gogeta is the best user of the mechanic imo

    Nah, all the mechanics are good in their own ways, the Goku UI field ignores the dodge nullification and apart from the support, the Gogeta active and the cell max can be used in events where they block and you don't want to receive damage with x or y character, For example, in the boyack red zone and you arrive with a more solid and unbeatable strategy, nullifying an enemy action may still seem useless, but it can remove an action like Kid Buu's super and save you an entire run, and so on, They are small things that, no matter how useless they may seem, make them useful in their own way.

      @@leerothana6328 Redirect is a powerful mechanic but it isn’t “new” per se. That is was being pointed out here. Redirect has the chance to be its own unique thing but outside of Beast it is kind of useless. Like if TEQ MUI Goku had a redirect instead of a domain on his transformation it would be broken. Just for now redirect is nothing different than just being a worse version of delay attack for a turn since most units can be sealed or stunned by attacks

      It is not a gripe when mechanics are just the same ones that have been repackaged. Again, it is noted in the video that they can make them goodm but redirects right now may as well be delay enemy action and super attack null is literally a straight downgrade to super attack counters.

      @@legendaryred24 the 3 redirects in game all give the unit they are attached to buffs for being hit/dodging attacks from their kit so like sure its not a ghost but imo i think its just as valuable sure its a L that they can still get sealed and stunned but like defensive perfection for a turn is fine by me. there have been countless times for me where buuhan or the other attack breaks have came in clutch just removing supers and or dumb fight gimmicks like aoes or heals so sure its not a counter but its still huge dub to just have. and lastly super attack null is good but i could agree it could just be a counter and be better but like not taking damage is always a plus so i couldn't complain about it

    I'm not a fan of this video, I feel recency bias is a big part of this, where are costume changes like with Evo Blue Vegeta and Gohan & Krillin? Where is defense lowering? Where is scouter (When it is a chance of activating). You argue stunning is better than a lot of these mechanics, and you are right in a vacuum, but hard fights don't let you stun, these mechanics can actually be used in all content unlike stunning which is always banned.

      When did I say stunning was better? Delay attack is not a stun it is a ghost usher ability which is the best ability in the game. Yes costume change sucks but it is so bad I forgot it exists 😭. Defense lowering is still good bc a lot of bosses now allow debuff. Scouter is broken chance to activate is not a mechanic that is a kit issue

      Cell Max can’t tank anything after intro and active. And the next in line is? TEQ UI? Mr. Dodge or die or SSBE Vegeta who has TO GET HIT for DR. Yeah I think ima go with the unit who can tank 8 mil supers😭 and have guaranteed crit while doing insane damage

      @@legendaryred24 The 80% is not forever. Beat after turn 5 Is a glass cannon. Cause he needs to be hit before a super to be good. And, he's literally god with his 1 turn active. But after that, there's nothing else.

      ​​@@legendaryred24Let's see Gogetas taunt isn't completely useless its his strongest ability tho its better used correctly or when it's needed. Attack breaks sure don't guarantee much but its better when the Boss can't be Stunned in any capacity. Same goes for Nullifaction its basically gambling your luck with a boss who can't be stunned or evaded. Locking sure its annoying but it doesn't need much refining its only pushing the current meta further by being worse because the fights are progressively getting harder to balance out modern units being dropped with uber busted kits. It's all about luck and strategy but really its not gonna mean much when again the Meta is continuously progressing.

      @@IVY_PRODUCTI0NS The thing that’s mentioned consistently in the video agrees with this, the mechanics themselves are not terrible. Especially redirects but the issue lies when they take mechanics that already exists and then repackage them as “new” and make them seem like these broken new things
      For example: Redirect is just delay enemy action except they hit the unit like wow what a creative mechanic. It really only works well with Beast since the other two will most likely be built up by the time you use it. Someone suggested what if a unit countered with the redirect mechanic and THAT would make redirect actually good
      Action Break/ Attack Break: I guess I said stun in the video which is unintentional here, stun is definitely not better😭, but I was referring to delay enemy action which is the ghost usher ability. To me action break is very useless RNG to hopefully break an important action which more times than not you do not and instead you get rid of an attack you are gonna take double digits from anyways
      Super attack null: Once again the mechanic is fine but we used to have null and counter, there was no just null back in the day. They literally took that mechanic and took the best part out of it and said here new mechanic 😭. Taking out the counter and saying new mechanic especially here is nasty work. The only “null” units that are excluded are the units like Android 19 & 20 who absorb the attack and heal from it.
      Locking rotations: I mean sure it is fine in its own way but I feel there should be minor turning to it. Ik the game is not programmed for you to not use items but if an enemy is sealing you need a Senzu or Dende. This is just dumb for the no item runs bc otherwise you just die due to RNG. Yes the game for the majority of it at least runs on luck, 100% agree but it doesn’t mean we have to keep building on that just to make it harder.
