It’s so good to see you, Hannah. That was a great story about you father. He sounds like a wonderful man. I still need to read A Gentleman in Moscow - thank you for putting it back on my radar. Sending you and your son prayers for comfort and peace. 💗
There is such a dissonance in the image of reading Light In August in a New England snowstorm, I can see why it was a memorable reading experience. Take care Hannah.
It's so good to see you, Hannah. Loved your video with Steve and glad you got away for a bit. Looking forward to your review of the The Marriage Question.
Oh, I hope you will give Faulkner a try! Light in August is a great one to start with. But if you have that Faulkner fan in the house to support you through the first chapter, The Sound and the Fury might work!
It’s so good to see you and I’m happy for you that you got away for a bit! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts as you continue A Gentleman in Moscow.
Hello Hannah, what interesting conversations about books. Thank you for your video. You take care too. ❤ Popping back to say how much I enjoyed your video with Steve. I smiled all the way through it. And I was especially happy to hear Swallows and Amazons mentioned. That is a series of books my whole family loves. My husband now keeps his sailing boat right next door to Arthur Ransomes old house
I don't think you won't be waiting long at all for your sea legs to return 😊Your comments on Faulkner and Absalom, Absalom! were really helpful - I was very confused at the beginning of that book! But I think it's beginning to make a little more sense now.
I was traveling when you posted this. Delighted to come across it as I play a bit of BookTube catch-up. To be honest, "catch-up" involves deleting plenty of videos that I just don't have (or won't make) the time for. Rest assured that will never happen with one of yours, Hannah! It is wonderful to see you and I continue to wish you well. xo
Grace, grace. 🤗 “Gentleman” is a favorite of mine also. I love the slow, quiet, intentionality. It’s beautiful. Happy to hear you are dipping your toes back into writing and reading and enjoying the process of both. Blessings
What a lovely sounding list. Maybe I should read a Faulkner book. I don't read a lot of novels. When I do they're normally fantasy. In the last two weeks I've read a book about the little ice age, India under British rule, Ireland, and Africa.
It's so good to see you getting back into a reading and writing rhythm. I also read Absolom, Absolom! !many many years ago--when I was in grad school in Boston. Your discussion of it makes me want to revisit it. It'll be interesting to hear your take on this second read. Your reviewing projects sound so interesting. Here's hoping your writing commitments end up being productive and enlightening; there's a certain therapy in any concerted industriousness, so take what you can from it. XOXO.
It's good to see you, Hannah. I definitely need to read Faulkner - think that can be a goal of mine for next year. . Ti Amo sounds a difficult read but sometimes those are the best ones, I hope so for this one
Do you remember the last paragraphs of Conrad’s short story “Youth”? That’s how you just made me feel: Ah, freshman year in college! When we were young! Discovering new books, and talking about them with friends! (Enough rhapsodizing, I’m glad your “sea legs” are coming back. 👍)
I'd forgotten to start this book, I will tomorrow. Thanks for the reminder and the introduction. I loved the stories about your university days, and if your father, surely a courageous man. It's not easy to break from your family. I know I grew up with fundamentalist mother, and I broke away in my late teens. I like the sound of the book about George Eliot.
Love Willa Cather!
Always good to hear from you, Hannah. ❤️
Thank you. I’m struggling to get back again because of some family health issues, but I hope to be here again soon.
Always happy to hear from you, Hannah.
♥️
I loved A Gentleman in Moscow. It is a gentle easy read and the Count is a delightful character.
♥️
So happy to see you Hannah 😊 sending hugs ❤

Go well Hannah.
Oh- I’m glad you found catharsis in a book. And what a deep subject.

Yes indeed. Thank you so much, Tilly.

This is very inspirational. I've yet to read Faulkner. He's my husband's favourite author, but I've yet to try him. I must!

Good to see you Hannah! One day I would like to read more Faulkner and Willa Cather.

It must have been such a reset to visit Boston. I'm so glad you had that chance. And getting back to reviewing is a good plan.
Wonderful to see you Hannah ❤

Thank you for your thoughtful insight, I'm so inspired by you.
Your comments about Faulkner make me want to read one of his books (I've never read one yet). So sorry about David.

You got this! ❤
I’m excited to read the book you and your husband wrote together 😊
Glad you are reading AA with us.
