This is incredibly helpful when you have absolutely no idea where to start with putting music to animation. Finding out which beat the hit point falls on, and how many beats you have leading up to it, adjusting the tempo, and then working towards the hit point sounds like a good place to start! I was about to give up-but maybe I won't! Thanks Guy!
sorry to be so off topic but does someone know a trick to get back into an instagram account? I was stupid lost the account password. I appreciate any tips you can give me
@Darius Princeton Thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and im in the hacking process atm. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Oh my god, you are amazing! I can't believe it - you are spreading such an incredibly good mood! I am planning to become a composer for TV, film and musical theatre music myself and you were another great inspiration and motivation - thankyou so much! :)
I personally make music for video games with a more serious tone but I have had so many requests from people asking me to make music for their animated projects, usually in a more comedic tone, that I decided it was about time I try to learn. This was the first video I found. Kicking off my journey with an amazing opener. :) Thank you for the amazing video.
Thank you for your positive comments, so glad you like the video! If you want to be kept in the 'ThinkSpace loop' follow the link below to be directed to our mailing list, you will be the first to know when more video content is released: www.thinkspaceeducation.com/blog Happy composing all!
Really terrific intro to doing this. I usually use input quantize instead of step record but I might switch now because it makes it impossible to get it on the wrong 16th note, for example. Back to scoring 90 minutes for four live players and two days away from the session with 30 min or more left to do. Record piano improv in DP, dump to Finale and edit, add other instruments, dump back to DP, adjust tempos, export audio of click for engineer. And I will be on Zoom in Connecticut running the session in South Carolina. Fingers crossed. When it’s over I’ll watch more of your videos!
Love these videos, great entertainment and educational value too. And it's great to see videos of people using DP on RUclips, there aren't many at all!! Keep up the great work!!
You are just amazing and hilarious and INSPIRING!!! I feel brave and inspired after each of your RUclips episode! I love your tips and lessons each time!
Hi there Guy. Love watching your videos since almost 8 years ago! I was wondering what happened to the Jungle Book example you made. I learned a great deal from that one!
Hi! After scoring a dozen short home videos, I would like to score something more interesting. I did follow the course MFTM 2 and some others which included nice clips to score to. Seeing you add music to animations looks very fun and I would love to give this a try. Where can I find free videos to use?
Hi +Dennis Taylor thank you for your comment. Funnily enough this guy is needed called Guy! He is a media composer and is also the director of ThinkSpace Education :-)
Awesome video. I just recently got into using MOTU and I am really enjoying it so far, especially that it makes things feel easier to write jazz-type electronic music. It feels like a pro DAW and I really like how things flow, it just makes sense.
Hello! Thanks for the videos! they help me a lot! What are the regions on the first measure of each channel? and how do you organize your plug-ins with each MIDI channel? DP Rocks! ^_^ Cheers!
+NeoXe5 Glad you enjoyed it, be sure to check out other videos on our channel. If you're interested in scoring for animation, I would suggest ruclips.net/video/5AyswacaFd0/видео.html :-)
Hi Guy. I loved your video, which was incredibly insightful. I've been composing for a while, but want to get into film composing but am unsure of the technical setup that is required. In the past I have composed with Sibelius and, with the somewhat limited playback, have created audios by importing and editing them in Audacity. But I'm now limited when it comes to film composition in terms of equipment. Does Digital Performer allow you to score music in the same way as Sibelius does, or is it all done via live playing from the keyboard into the software? I have a PC, so what is the keyboard you are using in this video? I would really appreciate your help! Thanks. Guy Shepherd
love your videos. Im new and learnt so much from your videos. Do you know any other software that can do this kind of job ? Because Dp9 is too expensive for me
There are lots of DAWs out there for you to choose from. Cubase is a good all round DAW, but you could consider other options like Reaper, Logic and FL studio. It all depends on what exactly you want to do
I have seen that cpu thing across the menu bar a few times in different videos from people, how do i get that on my comp. I have a mac pro that it would be great to see its 16 virtual cores while working.
@@ThinkSpaceEducation I believe Ron is asking if it's necessary to be a proficient keyboardist to become a successful composer for TV. I'd be interested in your response too.
If you work in Disney World company and film production company, Disney animation music director and film production company music director are boss of composer.
Hmmm ... The part where the music goes up needs to be longer, it needs to have more of a buildup to the final "crash". Maybe a trilling flute that builds up in volume and when they hit, play a nice concert piano octave hit. (BAM) and maybe a super low note. But I wouldn't have done it any better in only 14 minutes ... Hats off!

Erwin Vásquez the first bar is all the volume / expression / keyswitch / modwheel default settings so my template is balanced. That's how you do it!
so cool! thanks!
+'Bout beats Glad you enjoyed the video :-)
Loved it!
Hi guy. Can you please explain what you mean by "putting in a bar of 2/4?" (at the 3:22 mark of this video)

How long does it take for that Template to load up?
Memet Sucu I wondered the same. It looks like 200+ vst loaded into that thing?
What is the load up time and also - how much RAM is he running?
Memet Sucu It runs on 4 PC slaves with between 32 and 64Gbs of ram on each. Loading the whole lot first thing in the morning takes around 10 minutes.
Thanks great to know!
Memet Sucu
"Honey, I got to get more RAM!"
"What?! More RAM?"
"Yeah, lots, lots more."
hahah :D
Ojala hubiera este tipo de educación en México. Tendré que ahorrar.

Do you need to be a professional keyboard player to make small clips for games or movies.?
Thanks for the offer Ron, though we are lucky enough to have a professional keyboard player in house :)

Does anybody know what keyboard he is using?
***** Hi - it's an M-audio weighted 88 keyboard - the newer version is here :)

Film production company director was boss of film score composer.
not the same composition was used but kind of fun to see the final: ruclips.net/video/DsGMiF9H1Ms/видео.html
