I've come across one of your videos a few days ago and got fascinated by your work - and that of people scoring films, videos or games. I used to think than finding the right track and slapping it onto a sequence was enough but not anymore. I'll never be a composer but this will certainely broaden my skills. Thanks for sharing all this.
I absolutely love these video you do. Please keep them coming! We are all hungry for more. Even though I use Reaper it's great to see how your workflow works etc.
Watching a bunch of these today, that Tom at ThinkSpace has given me! They're fantastic! Bravo Guy - I think you missed a remarkable career as an actor. You'd make a great Q in a Bond film, for example !!! :-))
So glad I discovered your channel. These vids are very inspiring and entertaining which is a brilliant spur to learning. Thanks for taking the time to post! Big grin on my face watching this one.
this one of the only where you actually show us the video you are writing against. I would very much like to see more like this, but not for wildlife, but for movies, cartoons, videos, advertisements, news, themes, games etc, using your various plug ins. it also seemed very slow going, to write 40 or 50 seconds of material in half an hour. does it take that kind of time when working on a paying project when you are not on camera? I enjoy your videos both as an educational experience and for the entertainment value. Thanks for sharing .
In fact, it's a pretty boring subject for a not so musical persons but the thing is you can explain teach in a way not missing a second for the listeners that's the great thing your way of presenting! Thanks a lot for the whole thing, as I've done when one song with 20 players, a out of timing singer and me recorded in a four track studio! It took us half day to finish it 40 years ago, ha.
the CS strings you use is it Cinematic strings or CineStrings from Cinesamples? :) Love your tutorials, will be looking into your educational programs too :) Might go with the Orchestration for Film and TV. :)
When you're writing string and horn parts, do you use VSTis that has has the whole string/horn section on your keyword at once or do you have all the instruments on separate MIDI tracks? The former is much easier, but I'm not sure if the parts I'm writing would suitable for a "real orchestra."
Hi Guy.... I dont know what you are doing there? you have a sequence where you have 4 characters! 1 The lanscaoe 2 Her Majesty TheElephant 3 Exited young dwarf with kamera in Bunker 4 And this Beautiful Camera Girl Why are you writing so simple appregiated Music for this? Do the Filmmakers want to have it like this example? best regards
Star Wars managed on three themes - the good guys the baddies and the love theme. I try to talk film makers out of having too many ideas. Keeping it simple is in my view more effective but its a big world and there's room for lots of different approaches.
***** Thank you Sean. Heh I know I gotta invest hehe. Right now I am on a 3.5 GHz processor and 8 Gb RAM so I thought I was ok. However, my processor hits the roof pretty fast, with about 20-30 instruments loaded (gets worse and worse the more notes I record). Not sure what processor one need a to have to load 100s of instruments, a freaking super computer haha. Thanks for answer though :)
Elias Nilsson | Composer He uses Vienna Ensemble Pro. It's a program that allows you to stream vst plugging from another computer (Slave pc or Mac) I have it myself and i use a mac as my main computer with DAW and the pc as slave plugging processor.
for your info, the balance of your voice on the mic compared to your music is far too high. Your music should be roughly twice as loud as it can hardly be heard. I know it sounds loud in your headphones cause you keep lowering it. however, the detail of your part writting gets buried.
Nice video, if you want to join a Facebook group dedicated to making Cinematic Music feel free to join facebook.com/groups/cinematicmusicproducers/ you can post your videos there if you like, thanks.
bro he means slave computers 😂 he uses several computers connected together so that he can run all the vst/plugins. in that sense the main computer is called master and the others are slaves. think of it as rewire in some DAWs
0:12 ''all the slaves'' lol , im glad that I know what he's reffering to.
Bro you don't know how much I laughed when I saw this XD
That killed me.
ahahahaha
This is the kind of content internet was created for. Please keep this up! More wildlife documentaries scoring please!

Scoring my first documentary right now and this is very helpful... would love to see a "how to score for documentaries" course!
Am watching this after five years but enjoying and learning :)
I absolutely love these video you do. Please keep them coming!

would love to hear the actual output of the audio!
Thanks for the video Guy...I love these composing videos that you do. I've missed them.
Who else thinks he should've recorded himself whistling along?
Brilliant Guy! I really enjoyed this. So much fun.

Hello! Thank you for the videos! What headset do you use?
Thank you!
Welk that's a real tutorial. A practical interesting way ;)
Great stuff! Thanks for doing these.
how is this project going? it seems like it will be an awesome documentary and I'd love to watch it when it comes out
Great stuff as always :)
Great video! Is that the Rode NT2A? What mic stand is Guy using?
the CS strings you use is it Cinematic strings or CineStrings from Cinesamples? :) Love your tutorials, will be looking into your educational programs too :) Might go with the Orchestration for Film and TV. :)
Great video. It was worth hauling all your gear out to the savanna as it really helped conjure the composition's feel.
Your videos are so inspiring! Thanksss!!!
Is there a preferred key that you would write the music/score in, I see that you are playing mainly white notes?
I was going to say flute was needed, or just apt. You have that covered!..lol
I like this guy, i would learn a lot if he was my mentor
Yes it's a rode. I normally use a U87 but a hippo ate it. The rode is 85% as good as the U87 but the last 15% is quite important.
nice ambient... but The Elephant is an Majestic creature ;-)

good video with DP, thanks.
You are awesome, Sir!!
Please, do more of these videos :)
Nice green screen effect ;)
Sadly, I can hear your keyboard louder than the music...
Does anyone know what the short coloured blocks at the start of the project template window are for? maybe some of you long-time subscribers will know
Key switches, I think.
Hahahahhahaha, I've learnt a lot too so thank you!: )
+Mikołaj Trybulec thank you for your comment. We will keep the videos coming!
Yes ! Keep the videos coming !
Inspiring!
I’m impressed those chimps stay so quiet during overdubs, not to mention their keeping the headphones so clean! LOL Wonderful video!
06:50 hahahahahaha!!
hahaha ohh man, i love these videos
Out of curiosity, would you mind sharing which headphones you use?

How does one find projects like these?

You lovely musician of God :-) Great !
100 films in my time? WHAT I WANNA SEE THEM ALL
3:27 disaster! hahaha
What software are you using?? And what kind of keyboard is that?

English sense of humor brought me here.
How can you have so many instruments loaded? My computer would basically crash if I had even 1/10 of those loaded :p I am jelous!
