Dad, what's an engine hoist for? Well son, it's to test the tensile strength on anything you didn't disconnect!
I realize it's kind of off topic but does anyone know a good website to watch new series online?
Great idea on the wire labeling. I sometimes disconnect the battery and run some current through a wire and use a tester light inside to find where different wires go. Can't always be sure when someone else has been modifying on something. O and don't feel bad on the pants fire incident cause I did that with some military pants once and they melted to the skin. I'll never do that again. Great video by the way.
Should have thrown the Comanche cab on the CJ
So Matt's a plaid boxer kinda man. I can respect that.
Scott W those were pajama pants cuz it’s cold in the shop. Gotchu player.
As for the space issue. Delete the fan, run the exhaust either up and out the hood or out the front fenders. If you can keep the York ok, but it might be better just to run a common electric compressor. Most of this you very well already thought of. These are just my first observations.
That's not a cherry picker, it's a tensile strength tester for everything you didn't unhook....
Only for the first 12 attempts.
Very awesome video. Here's a tip that might help you a little bit. On your hydraulic floor jack take the plate off, & make a new one that bolts on. Weld a tubing to the plate & have another tubing that slides into it. Make holes in it so that you can adjust for heights. It makes it a lot safer you can also make that same plate with a slide tubing on the bottom that slides out for two tubing's sets and chunk of angle iron on top and you can pick up axle that way too. I've been building crawlers and off roads 4x4's for 30 years. I've learned little tricks doing this by myself. Keep up the cool videos. Carl
The 🔥 fire is a sign from the Jeep Gods. They have been angered cease the Jeep Butchery before its too late!!! 😁
Matt, I know this is an older video, but I couldn't help noticing that it looks like you're using a pair of Harbor Freight 3-ton jack stands like mine. I read a recent recall on those today saying that the lever can disengage causing the stand to drop if the load being supported shifts. Part #'s 56371 & 61196 are the affected 3-ton models. #61197 6-ton model also recalled for the same reason. Recall says that there's a sticker on the stand's base with the model # listed. Stay safe!
*Matt-* If you hadnt already heard. There's a new show on History Channel, "Truck Night in America." It would be perfect for you to show off one of your homemade rigs like the Comancheep & get your name out there more. Check it out 😀
I'm an Xterra guy myself but I've used your how to videos especially when making a wiring harness for my light bar! Keep up the awesome work!
Np435 transmission. I've got almost the same setup. 350 5.7,np435,np231. Eventually I'll build a blown 383 stroker, put an atlas 4 speed, range torque splitter, d44, and ford 8.8.
I'm ready for the CJ to be setting on the frame outside. Warm up the tube bender next. 👍👍
Nice job, Matt. Been there many a time myself trying to get engines out and hoping the whole thing doesn't Rochambeau on me! Had a 258 do that once, luckily I didn't get hurt or break anything. Keep up the good work.
You're hilarious man! I love how honest you keep your videos.
Little by little... She takes a long time to get ready, but when she's ready... she sure is pretty... Can't wait for her to be finished. Good job Matt.
LS Swapped Comanche... That's gonna be Fun!!
Ratchet straps work well for me to keep the engine stable when I'm pulling stuff alone. Can't wait to see you stuff her!!!!
I'm thinking that if you bring on another big project like that you need to put a lift system in the ceiling of your garage it will save a lots of headaches.
for the cost of that masewell just build a small garage/polebarn with a 2 post lift
Look for added strength the way to he can do larger projects without hurting himself again smacking himself in the head with a transmission .
I done the same exact thing yesterday but with an angle grinder. Haha. First time I've ever managed to set myself ablaze.
One mod I've always meant to do is fit better wheels to my engine crane. Makes the job 10 times harder when they drag not roll. Looking forward to the next episode
I admire how you display an obvious skill and knowledge of sacred jeeps but speak with humility..you remind me of Kwai Chang Caine from Kung Fu.
He just drives the earth.
Good job Matt, can't wait to see that beast go into the new project
I think it would have gone a lot smoother if you had just cut the bumper off. Also for future reference a ratchet strap around the trans would help keep it where you want it.
Well, you know what JEEP stands for? Just Empty Every Pocket
Sharpie included.
301steady yup!
safe to say this hobby really does burn a hole in your pocket!
I hope you don't try to put those O2's on there like you indicated. The piping pointing forward will most certainly get in the way of an 02 sensor socket. I'd point it straight backwards.
Huh?
You said you were going to point the O2's forward, alongside the exhaust pipes that reach around the front. Try to fit an 02 sensor removal tool down there and make sure you can turn it before you punch any holes. It looks like you don't have clearance for that. You don't want to punch a hole, weld in a bung, and then find out when you go to put the 02 in there the tool won't fit so you have to seal up the hole and put it in the back.
Another good vid. I'm watching with great interest. Although I wish you were doing a 4BT Cummings swap. Gobbs of torque from a little engine. Can't wait to see you put those floor boards in. Aleve dude. Don't forget!!!
You have to be inventive when working alone. You've done a great job of it so far.
should have coated the underside of the comanche with beliner or something while you had it up like that.
You’re killing it Matt! Keep up the good work brother!
Your like a Bob Ross on RUclips lol love your videos
Parabéns pelo projeto, eu acompanho todos seus vídeo!
Stop being so productive, I feel like such a lazy slob when I see how quick you're progressing with this build. My 2003 TJ has been disassembled in the garage for a frame off restoration since september. I don't know how you can work so much in this cold!
Seriously though, this is great, keep it up
You’d really be surprised if you saw it in real time as it’s almost done now!
@BleepinJeep I'll bet! Mine is actually on the reassembly phase, but I guarantee I've spent over 60 hours working on it so far. It's all worth it in the end, as long as I don't roll it... Sorry, too soon? Haha!
Great work Matt...I love this project!
12:17 *woaaaahhhh!* 🤣
When moving a engine on a hoist push the hung engine not the hoist frame...it will make life easier
see if you can put the cj grill in the comancheep, then everyone is happy, its still the cj...
your video description disclaimer is one of the best I've ever seen.
Great vid, can't wait to see you wedge that engine into the comancheap.
I was welding in a plant one day and caught the bottom of my jeans on fire. I used my boot to put the fire out and my coworkers laughed and said they had never seen a man set himself on fire and then stomp himself out.
lol, thats a good one!
Another sweet video ! So really when can I come pick this thing up? Plus Matt did you ever look into doing twitch like live streams of the work you do??
Half the time I’m just looking for the 10mm socket... it would be pretty boring!
BleepinJeep aren't we all?
i boughtextra just for that reason lol
Good job Matt. Happy you didn’t burn your leg. I bet the shop smelled like burnt hair all night though. Hearing the other members of your RUclips channel talk about this you are further along than this even though they didn’t say you where just could tell by what they said but i can’t wait to see it. Might have to make it out to Moab just to take a look at it.
Ya, come on out!
Great vid! I wish I was half as meticulous as you are during the build process on these Jeeps.
Can't wait to see it in the Comancheep! :D
And again... Alexa... call the fire department
Seems like it would have been easier to just put that commanche cab on that frame with everything already there
would be cool if you could some how put the tj grill on the front of the comanche.
You should recreate catching tour leg on fire cause that would've been a site to see for sure! Lol But for real, I'm glad you're ok and didn't get hurt!
Let me know if you have any cooling issues. Buddy of mine claimed they couldn't fit a big enough radiator behind the grille in their XJ and ended up overheating their LS they swapped in.
Great vid! Keep up the good work. Enjoy these builds!!
Yes , I am crying
Cant wait to see that CJ-Comanche finished....
13:29 wish I lived closer to help ya out!
Looks like those pants are toast. Pun intended.
great work
6:30 ooohh, an Atlas!
you are flying with the comancheep project.
tuff job lol , I am surprise you didn't power was the engine first well maybe at the end .
Still thin it's going to be a bad ass rig. Love your stuff.
I forgot about the removable plate above the trans. That was an awesome idea back then!
Almost cried when you cut the engine mount, someone would have loved to get the frame, or is that being used for the project?
It’s not a factory engine mount.
Subscribed! In the process of building a TJ. Just a quick question: What headers are on the LS motor? Can you see anything on the label that is tack welded on them? Thanks!
Hmm I forget the brand but they are for a Corvette I believe.
Ok Matt... When is Big Hoss Jeremy going to have his own channel. I can't stand to watch this poor CJ come apart any further. Jeremy would never do this!
7:00 Lol yeah that was hard to watch.
Well done mate nice work just on your own
Ain't it fun working alone
Love the comancheep vids
Dang Matt, I've come to the point the 360 amc is out of my cj7 and the ls is going in and I keep reviewing this video to build exactly what you tore apart im curious if you have any parts still for sale and if fuel injection is the way to go!?
Those are normal mechanics gloves in Alaska
Hello Matt really like your job man. Your like my bodies here in Portugal we made every thing by ourselves. Keep with the good job my friend 😆
Looks like you need a few more friends!
Or at least CLOSER Friends !
would it not be easier to remove the body first to remove engine and trans.?????
I seen you were not all the way out on the boom of the cherry picker. You had one hole left. Why didn't you just extend it out further when it was getting bound up on the bumper?
Too heavy! Mucho crasho
What's going to happen to the donor cj.... Especially those front fenders that would look really nice on my yj :)
I hope you have lots of life insurance. LOL
This makes me sad. Shoulda just kept that awesome CJ
*RIP* *_those pants_* 😞👻
Bump stops are huge part of XJ / MJ builds
Was that tubing between the shock hoops built into the cooling system??
Yes it was, good eye!
Crazy is that just for more water volume? I dont imagine it had that great of flow unless they were attached on the bottoms aswell?
Yeah i noticed that as well
I've seen rock bouncers do that when the radiator is mounted in the rear, then the tube chassis runs double duty as solid radiator hoses. I rewound a couple times trying to figure why they did that on the jeep but I couldn't figure it out from the video.
Beast of a motor
Should just put the cab on the cj frame
I agree totaly. it would be saving a lot of faffing around.
😵💪😱💪😨💪😵💪😤 happy ending 😥😅😁 great video 🏆 WELL DONE 👍👍👍👍👍😎
Great job! And Nice video
Basically I’m really glad you did not burn your peas
@Matt- What kind of air compresser do you have Thanks!
campbell hausfield 60 gallon i think
Why try to build something completely custom when had a good frame as a from the donor Jeep just changed bodies?
Nice job matt.....
Nice job Matt. Speaking of motors, what replacement would you recommend for a 98 XJ. My 4.0 is approaching 250k and runs fine for now. I'm just trying to put together a plan for when the day comes. Do you have any experience with Jasper crate motors? Or ATK? This Jeep is my daily driver.
I don’t have experience with any of those sorry, last time I just bought a low miles xj in bad shape and stole the motor.
roger that, thanks sir.
Wouldn't it have been easier to just throw the comanche body on the cj? lol
I lit myself on fire in shop class with an angle grinder.
The square box plastic intake piece that flips the intake tube around from throttle body - is that a stock piece or aftermarket?
It’s custom fabricated
I have a question, i just baught a 1986 cj7 and the transfercase shifter nob is non existant and i cant figure it out. Can you help me?
Nice magic trick
oh - i get it... dent the hood= build another crawler...lol just pickin
Shwagg,,,,,,, I need some bleepin Jeep stickirs, I probably missed it but can you you you remind me how how to get some????
Go to the website!
Keep it up
Not sure where you are located. How much do you want for the Cage if you still have it?
$2,000, comes with the tub and frame, light bar, bumpers, hood, grill, fenders, etc.
yeah i just want the cage. No use for all that other. Thanks though
wait a sec, why is there a Toyota key in your pocket?
swedishrice I’m guessing you haven’t seen his daily/tow vehicle.
IIRC, it's a newer GM truck, right?
Weird
@6:23 “uh oh”
*something falls
How much for the hood and complete cj grill?
