I know a lot of people are freaking out about the meteor moon block. It's a good trick! But the insane part of this was the perfect poise carry over. After stance breaking Radahn in phase 1, they specifically didn't riposte. That deals too much damage, and would send him into phase 2 with full stance. Instead, they cast Glintstone blades and stacked just enough poise damage that Carian Grandeur would stance break him, in order to dodge the holy nova with crit s. That is a beautiful set up. Chef's kiss.
@@paigelove2666 Thank you for acknowledging my efforts in such a nice way! It took a lot of time to figure out what works and what doesn't. I wanted to give you a bit more insight on this fight. In the end, the result was that one Greatblade Phalanx, one guard counter and one Piercing Fang in any order were what's needed to build just enough stagger that could carry over and tip him off in second phase. Add only one R1 into that mix in first phase and he gets prematurely staggered. Miss one of the 3 attacks or substitute it for 2 R1s and he wouldn't stagger. This means you HAVE TO send him into second phase on your third attack hence why I include one R1 while he's staggered in first phase before casting Greatblade Phalanx. If I hadn't, he might not have transitioned in time. Additionally sometimes he'd do his meteor attack in first phase which prompted me to send a moon at him that deals a ton of damage and debuffs him to magic attacks, absolutely throwing me off. Once all this is choreographed, you have to PRAY he starts off with Light of Miquella in second phase and not with literally any move (I had to figure out when and how many weapons to swap before it's too late, and where exactly to stand because if you get too close to him the odds that he starts off with Light of Miquella become impossible). Once all that is out of the way I have to finish the fight without getting chipped by any of his attacks, like for example his clones would barely hit me on their way down as I'm running after casting Rennala's Full Moon, or Blind Spot would sometimes collide with the ridges of the floor and stop me in place, and on top of that I had to be on the constant lookout for the double cross attack. Luckily he only did it once in this fight, and at the end of it too, and I still panicked and pressed circle at the same time as L2 as you can see on the controller overlay. I fully expected to get no recognition for my efforts, and I would have been fine with that as it was originally aimed to be a personal achievement, but I'm glad so many people enjoyed my fight.
@@Quarkk11 Hey, happy you feel pleasantly seen! Yeah, I've done a bunch of poise math based playstyles. I have a playlist of much sloppier, more general Radahn kills on my page, with my Square Off one being particularly ridiculous. 40 poise x 3 practically cheeses him, because you can always get an extra SO off after critting him, the straight sword is fast enough to not let poise recover in his open combos, and then you can hittrade the final one to get the stun. Getting him to start with Light of Miquella is usually a distance thing. If you're too far, he'll often use a re-engage first. If he's too close, he'll start using regular melee tools. It's still not 100%, so planning a stagger around it is more flashy/do it if you can than consistent. Still awesome to see. For the clones, they each have clean defensive patterns. The horizontal smacks downward can be dodged by rolling the first one rightward, running the next three, then rolling the actual attack. If it's meteor, the attack is the final slam of the Core Combo, so you just continue as that. If it's not after meteor, it's just any combo that can follow a slam down. The clone that zips around you at an arc can be dodged by rolling into it twice. The clone that just zaps straight forward you can dodge by standing where it starts. Avoiding terrain mess-ups is tough. For more casual, less flashy kills, I like to just run straight backwards at the start of phase 2 to bring him back to the flat at the start of the arena. For the cross slash, there's a lot of ways that work. Even midrolling works if you're positioned aside of his knee, but the timing is rough. Too much to one side and he'll spin too aggressively. Blind spot can dodge it, as can double quickstep or raptor of the mists. Running backwards also works if you're not right up against him. It's probably his toughest attack! I briefly tried to hitless him, I just found it less satisfying. I much prefer being okay with getting hit by him SOMETIMES and meeting him head on. All the more I'm impressed seeing a hitless run!
@@paigelove2666 Now there's a person who also knows his stuff. I see Radahn's no stranger to you according to your channel. Square Off is busted and feels so good to land lol. I find the clone attack where he arcs at you annoyingly tight to dodge. I think he lags my game or something. The rest of the clone attacks are fine and the clones that come after the meteor would be 10x easier to space out if I could just instantly start running away instead of lingering to cast Rennala's Full Moon. I've seen Ongbal and others use the Fine Crucible Feather Talisman to dodge the cross attack. Since I'm currently doing an RL1 Wretch run with the club, if the knee dodge proves to be difficult/inconsistent I'm gonna have to look into that. Or just eat the Quickstep pill. If you weren't uncomfortable with no hit runs I'd urge you to try one, the adrenaline and the release you feel when it's done is unmatched. You clearly got what it takes :D
