I seemed to have lucked out. My F2 has screen material on the front door which I understand was one variant. I also looked far and wide for the extra seperate rainfly and found one for my tent. At the time they were very scarce. All in all I really like mine
There seems to be several styles of this tent. Mine has only one door but has a screen door also. I would recommend putting a rain fly over this tent because why not. The only down side I have found with this tent is the sag in the center. I have thought about possibly adding some loops along the ridge of the tent for a ridge line. I have had some condisation but like you said in one video what do you expect. I like it.
Yes the is a few differences. Normally you only get the bug door with the single door model. I have only seen the desert one with the single door, but the could always be a green one too. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. 👍
Marc's tent should be the F1 with a cotton main tent and a rubberized nylon flysheet from the 1980's maybe earlier. The full nylon version is from the 1990's. There are some with two doors too but without moskitonet in the doors. Before using in the rain the seames have to be sealed by the full nylon tent without flysheet. When that's done it's a very good simple tent. Regards from Northern Germany Thomas
hey mate (idk if u still reply to these) any recommendations on if this is ok to use in the Scottish highlands, and what alternative would you use instead of the extra tarp over the top, love the video and the review of the tent.
They are not the most bug proof. I personally would use the OneTigris Backwoods Bungalow. More waterproof and living space. Also about half the weight.
Great video and thank you for the information. I camp a lot in the Scottish Highlands where you have to deal with this weird mix of temperate and moisture.... eg ...relatively warm warm days with cold rain beating down on your tent. It can turn a lot of single skin tents into condensers, with water dripping down on the insides. Those massive vents seem to handle that situation and negate the temperature exchange issues. I have not yet tested my F2 but just looking at it out of the box its tough as hell. Thanks again.
Nice one lad's. It's not so easy to get Euro surplus down under. There is army and outdoors but they rarely have clothes in my size these days. That MTP works well eh? I will keep an eye out for the F2. Chilli is one of the best camp foods. Thanks for all the great material chap's. Cheers 🍻. I ripped my MTP trousers yesterday. I was gutted. It's my only pair. So comfortable to wear.
I have an F2 tent and use it all through the year. Had no problems. Yeah, I know it's French, but it's wonderful in every way. Loved the video by the way.
@@jim-bob-outdoors there's a camo for every season and type of woodland, i spose, there will always be something new coming out, u deff got the combination right that day :)
Nice camp and enjoyed the little walkabout in that beautiful woodland Allen. You had a result with no condensation - thought that might have been an issue. Cheers 🌲👍
If you remember I used this tent with you many years ago when we camped in Northamptonshire. Absolutely love it. I would love to get my hands on the flysheet (very rare apparently) if you find one please let me know. Great video as always
Cool video Allan, like the look of the tent, though I need to get out in my German army puptent yet ,good health and safe travels my friend, cheers craig
I say Allan Old Chap! Splendid transmission I've been eyeing up the french Army Tent for a while. Looks a great big of kit! Love the British gear to counter balance haha! Bit of the old Entente Cordiale 😜 🇬🇧 🇫🇷. Glad you enjoyed the chilli Old bean! I do agree Spring and Autumn best months. We are lucky in the UK for that. I'm glad you reminded Marc of "Allan's Mobile Military Surplus supplies" When is your shop opening? 🤔👌😁 All the best and thanks Old Chap! See you soon!
Nice one JB, my imitation version of the tent was sound as a pound after cealent and fab spray, stayed dry through 3 day tropical storm. Good set up as you say. The jobs a good un. Harry...out
Should be the other way around, but even the F2 has different versions depending on age etc. Some have doors just one end or come with a bug net inner door.
The fly sheet came with the canvas variety (f1??) in general the synthetic material on the f2 was deemed waterproof enough to use as a single skin. Would a basha, dpm of course serve as a suitable fly sheet?????
Always fancied getting one of those tents ! As for the mtp jacket and trousers , i still prefer the dpm and cant get used to it ! Does'nt blend in as well in brittish woodland .

Its a great tent design, even better if you have found the extra fly sheet.

Thanks for that Thomas. 👍
Nice stove! 😉 Good to see it getting some use. Always liked the F2, very good sized shelter 👌
It works well mate, thankyou.👍 The F2 is bigger than I expected to be honest.

It will leak in persistent rain, as I recently found out. Still like it though and will use a tarp over it if the forecast is bad.
@@jim-bob-outdoorsThank you for the warning mate.
I do love the big green slug. It's one of my cheapest bags but the warmest bag I own. Makes me smile everytime you use it in a video.
Its a great bag for the money, just a bit bulky to pack.

Beautiful area, it's amazing how well that camo works in dappled sunlight
Lots of people were not happy when the moved from the old DPM to the new MTP. Both have there plus points and work well.

I was half expecting the baguettes and a wee bit of escargot coming out Al.
I was tempted. 😂

Glad you enjoyed it Giles. The tent performed better than I expected.
Looks like you guys had a lovely campout. I've never seen the French F2 with a second fly over it. That is very Interesting. Thanks for sharing mate
Glad you enjoyed it. I had never seen the second skin on one, Marc didn't order it, it just came with one.

I dont remember mate, chemo has messed with my memory. Apparently the fly came with the original F1 in canvas. I have never seen one for sale. 😒

Yes its about time I got mine out too. 👍
The extra fly sheet usually comes with the F1 canvas version if your lucky.
Good info thankyou. 👍
Tent looks like it does the job, wall to wall carpet is nice to 😂. Chilli sounded nice . Take care JB 🏕 👍
I enjoyed using it at the weekend. Quite impressed for the money.
The extra fly sheet was always part of them, it’s just that for some reason, they’re nearly always missing.
Interesting. 🤔👍

Excellent video
Thanks Dave.
French Tent no surprise Two doors Front & Back. Nice spot always
Its a spot we use a fair bit, going to a different woodland this weekend if the weather is ok.
Looks a good tent matey another good camp with marky 😊
Glad is wasn't today, weather is shocking here. 😒😒
@@jim-bob-outdoors yeah I was hammocking in it 😂
I guess the ventilation requirement in the design of this tent was for 2 Galouises per hour 🙂
😁👍
What more could you ask for!
Blue Skies good Company good Scran and Saxon playing in the Background!
All the good ingrediance for a weekends camping.

Excellent video Jim Bob. I quite like the F2 tent. I understand it's canvas? Where the F1 is nylon?

Nice camp and nature. Have a F2 tent too but is me to heavy for using on my tours 😎
For me its worth it for the extra space. This spot is only a 15 minute walk from the car though.
There is usually a Whit label inside the F2 that’s says year on it
I will have a look next time its out. 👍
Cheers and good morning
Morning to you, but its 7pm here. 😁👍
Spring 👍 autumn 👍 agreed 👍
Absolutely 👍
Would be nice to see setup

That was my thinking Pat. A basha would be about the same size.
A 3 x 3 tarps what I use if need to for rain
Lets see it used with hours of rain
Have done and it did leak, but not badly. Looks like the water comes through where the door tie back are stitched on.
@@jim-bob-outdoors could set a tarp up above it if you encounter heavy rain.
