Been using these tents for some time now. If you do not mind carrying the pole and pegs seperately you can stuff the tent into the British Army Jungle compression bag and squash it down further for more bergen space I also managed to get hold of the rain flysheet but you can always use a basha. Will stand up to a light shower after that either fabsil the thing or get a rain flysheet of some sort. Am off the woods this weekend with mine.
I have the green one and the biggest flaw OF IT... is that there are no mosquito netting doors. Which, if you ask me, immediately eliminates it from Summer use. Why? Because you have to close those front doors. You are now counting on the side vents and the top vents to move air. This tent will work FINE in Fall and Winter and Spring. I like the color. The poles and stakes are strong.
They will leak like crazy unless you waterproof the "entire tent" to include the floor from the bottom. Also seam seal all of the seams with a mixture of silicone and mineral spirits. then make sure you use a ground covering such as a heavy-duty plastic. You will have to put some work into this tent to make it waterproof.
Would you consider making a video on how to use the tensioners on the lines for this tent? Every tent I have ever owned never had tensioners, and I never had anyone to teach me knots or anyone that goes camping, so I just pulled the string tight before I drove the stake. I looked online, but all the videos for the tensioners that I watched were different than these style, I am just confused as to how to work these tensioners. To me it feels like a 3 hand job just trying to hold tension while also trying to get the slack through the plastic tensioner. Any advice would be appreciated!
Use any that suit you? The middle guys from the roof, I replaced with fine bungy cord, which enable tha tent to be set much much better, flat on the roof. I am referring to the polycotton version. The plastic ones leak very badly. The polycotton ones don't.
You shouldn't have to seem seal it doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of having the tent in the first place, shouldn't it be seem sealed and waterproof from the manufacturer? I've got one of these in green and I'm just going to get a rainfly 10 ft by 10 ft for about 25 us it comes with its own poles pegs and cord just set it up over the tent for an extra layer of protection and that put something on the ground for an underlayment and you'll be good to go. These weren't designed for ultimate comfort they were designed for a hasty shelter don't really think that the government gave a damn about keeping their troops dry otherwise it would have been of much better quality. These should have come with an integrated ridge vent and a lightweight rainfly for an added layer of protection.
You're gonna get your friend soaking wet and turn them off from camping suggesting this tent to him/her. Great plan. It seems your reasoning is solely to be contrarian and not use the one everyone knows works, the lanshan. Lemme give you some sage-like advice bud, if you're gonna re-invent the wheel you don't do it on a budget. If you're on a budget then you get something tried and true and proven. You however want to steer clear of anything proven and why? Because all the RUclipsrs already use it lol. Your poor friend, I feel sorry for them considering you their guide on this matter. If you buy this tent you need to seal M seal this entire thing and you'll also need to silicone coat it yourself at minimum. Keep in mind a proper job silicone waterproofing this will add significant weight also. Personally I think this tent is cool and not overly heavy for two ppl and gear. I am actually considering buying one for $50 and trying to seal and waterproof it myself just as a project and fun tent to have. If your friend is on a budget get a proper my modern surplus tent. In the United States for example you can get the improved combat shelter for under 100 bucks and the lightfighter 1 for under 200 both next to new condition. If you really need a two person tent then the lanshan is probably the best budget deal because the two person lightfighter and TCOP military tents jump in price

I would suggest if one was it would be the olive but both seem sturdy

I’ve not used it in wet conditions yet mate, if it’s seem sealed in the areas I mentioned I w would think it should withstand most rain we get here
