Collectors called that GE motor the fireball of doom. I have a Patton high velocity 12 inch fan and it has that motor and it seems to work just fine. It’s mostly the reversible export motors with two speeds that have the problem.

This is very similar to mine. Mine has the switch in the center behind the handle like most Hunter box fans from this era. My handle also doesn't have screws visible from the top, I believe it's a clip on handle. I have to get mine back out and take a look at it, I haven't had it apart since the summer of 2016 so I'm not quite sure how the handle mounts, I just know that it doesn't have screws on top. I used to have the stand and box from mine, unfortunately the stand and box did not make it through moving, at least the fan and the original paperwork are still around. I really don't use full size box fans that often, I usually use the smaller ones more. Very cool and I'm glad you were able to find one. I thought these were Hunter (Robins and Meyers) motors in these. The GE export motors weren't all the "fireball" motors, just the 3 speed reversible ones, if I remember correctly. I have three 12 inch Hunter box fans (one is a Montgomery Ward, one an EXL, and one is a straight Hunter) that use a mini version of the export motor with a mini version of this blade. They're cute. I have a video from 2016 of the Montgomery Ward fan, I wanna do a video of all three together soon.

@@brunoshow124 I'd like to see a video of all the minis. Apparently the mini fireball motors are still problematic. A friend of mine had a small Lakewood with one and recently it went up in a puff of smoke as he was using it in his window. I never knew that your Duracrest came with a stand and box. You probably said it in the video but I believe the last time I actually watched it was around 2020 or so. By any chance do you know what store sold these fans? Maybe if I re-watch the video it will answer my questions.

@@theericfreeze1493 I have no idea who sold the Duracrest brand. Mine was the first one I ever saw with that brand on it. I'll get all 3 of the minis together for a video. I've been using the Montgomery Ward one for 8 years and never had a problem, and I really don't maintain that one at all.

Ah yes, Duracrest. That was before it got bought out by Kaz and changed into Honeywest. XD
Never seen that before. That looks like a Lasko D-blade. Lasko should've used that blade on its 80s Galaxy 20" (3713), to match that Galaxy 12" box fan with the 7 blades (3712).

@@Xyspade this blade is most commonly seen on the hunter EXL box fans. These predate the Galaxy D-blade fans so I wouldn't be surprised if they knocked off this design. The early wind machine had a 7 wing blade set, id like to see how that performs on the box fan.
