The beginning stroke me a bit. It's quite high-paced as compared to the melancholic feeling of Departure songs. But by the end.... OMG, this is a massive song with so many twists. Have to have the album right now!
I've been listening to Departure Songs on repeat over the years. It helped me get through tough times. A little late, but I'm happy to see another album has been put out. :)
Given what their music did for me, i blindly ordered the album. Then I listened to this song....and had s nice confirmation of what I hoped it would be like. 😁
Man, this was something else. You guys continue to produce some powerful pieces of music that are all unique in tone and style. I love it! I hope I get to see yall live someday!
The video is absolutely amazing. I feel that it enhances the music in such a powerful way, while still being very simple and leaving a lot of room for interpretation. Personally, I got some symbolist poetry vibes.
Only just discovered it, because I was listening to Diary Of My Misanthropy (give it a listen, you might like that as well) and it recommended me this band. Amazing. I really love this!!
These guys have slowly crept into my top 3 favorite post rock bands..my favorite is still newer Mogwai, with the electronic nuances, so awesome. Gotta put God is An Astronaut up there too. Cheers.
YESSSSSSS!!! Ok so i’ve listened to it about 3 times already. Bring on the whole album. I feel like I might’ve heard this one when WLTS opened for Russian Circles. Correct?
If this album wasn't originally written about 9/11 and altered to avoid upsetting thin-skinned people i'll eat my hat. Just look at the track listing and listen with that day in your mind (assuming you're old enough). Seems to me track one is about the construction and the attack on 9/11 starts some way into track 2. Distant shores = Iraq, Afghanistan.
a 15 minute song to open an album?...Yes!
Yes, please!
Whatever
I realize I'm pretty randomly asking but do anybody know of a good place to watch new movies online ?

I always thought you could never reach Departure Songs levels again... I was wrong O_O
Can't wait for the entire album!
Thought the same!!!!
doesn't reach those heights for me unfortunately, still a good album though.
well, they didn't. but it's decent
These guys aren't musicians, they're storytellers! 😁
Well I think it's safe to say that we have a post-rock album of the year contender. Thank you boys!

I really like We Lost the Sea but have never been able to really get into Godspeed ... Any good album or songs to make me change my mind ?

I like this stoner rock vibes from the first riff :)
best thing about "We Lost The Sea" is how music goes exactly as you want it to, as if they asked for your opinion before producing it.

Meticulously crafted, literally breathtaking. Cousin Mose loves this as well.
No wonder dwight loves Post Rock
Unbelievable follow up to Departure Songs! I really didn't think you could top the previous album, but this song may be one of your best works yet!
Existential despair never sounded more alluring. Loving this so much.
How great the concept is. Eagerly waiting for full album
The first track is as long as some EPs... I strongly approve. :D
A black marble stone. Absolutely incredible.
The strenght, the power in this.
You did it again. This goes beyond words of how amazing it sounds. Can't wait to hear more.

Too bad the last time they were in france, the sound system where they played was too bad, I left 5 mins in, otherwise i LOVE the band!
Crushing beauty.

You should also try Yndi Halda.
Hearing this, can you formulate and express a full imaginative scenario with this music?
The album is about climate change and the end of the wold ,the water drops in the song are the last drops of water on earth
Chill inducing. I've ascended. This is incredible.
This is such a masterpiece! I love it
Thank you guys this made my day!

nikoff008 correct ;)
Kieran Elliott thought so, thought I had the same feeling I had at the Russian circles gig of “oh my gosh, I loooooove this!”
When I heard it at the first time, I didn't like so much. After 20 listenings I think this album will be even better than Departure Songs.
7:52. I crapped my pants.

Better warm up that hat and get it on a plate. It had/has absolutely nothing to do with 9/11.
Officially - this has absolutely nothing to do with 9/11 but I can see why your mind went there.

It's a great song and all but I kinda expected that it would be beautifully depressing like Departure Songs
